[Official Discussion] Huawei Ascend 2.1 - 2.2 Firmware Upgrade (Info updated as received!)

will I have tired both and I have come to the conclusion that CM6 is the winner more shit works with it will the shit I use works and that is all that matters. I also found no phone is ever truly bricked as long as you can get into CWM and you have a good backup thank god I had 3 backups because 2 of them were no good.

you have to know what you doing also...nobody shouldnt jump on a motorcycle and drive it 100 mph if they never rode one before...:D

after installing CM6 I have noticed that the camera shutter button no longer works you now have to tap the screen which I find quite awkward my question is there a way to map the shutter back to were it should be I have the ADW version of CM6 and I have been going through the settings looking for a way to fix this problem but have not found it yet.
some one please help if you have and answer

Can't even try that, because the phone always goes back to the firmware update screen, I have tried hard resetting it, I tried wiping the memory, nothing works  any clue as to how I can fix this? I will probably just have Metro fix is tomorrow

take your phone to Metro and have them do it.

I'm still having issues with those damn apps auto runing. I've been using the AMM with the settings that were suggested, but I've seen no change in the system at all. Am I doing something wrong, or have others had no luck with the app Auto Mem Manager? Also I was under the impression that with the 2.2 upgrade that the phone would now run the app Angry Birds smoother (which is the whole reason I stumble on to this site lolz), but I've seen VERY little improvement in the way the app runs. Is it just that the Ascend itself can't handle the game?

That's the gist of it...

disable background in angry bird, and also if you using metro 2.2 why not go with cm6 which is 2.2 but faster and better and all bloatware remove and is clocked @ 710mhz compared to metro 600mhz.

my hauwei accend froze after installing android 2.2 from metropcs.com. anybody know what can do to fix. please this is my only phone and dont have money to buy another one. Thanks.

I don't think so. I think it's the standard 2.2 kernel. Just not sure if Cricket users can use that file..

Eagle...

playful is trying to get cricket going...might want to check out cm6/ which is better than the official 2.2 and is oc at 710.

kernel has nothing to do with it, it will be the same when cricket releases a update.

Its the APN settings and a sql file n maybe more edits that need done.

Really wish Cricket would just get on the ball and release 2.2 but I wouldn't be shocked if they never released it at all for the Ascend.

Would love to see PG do a Cricket version of the Metro update if that's possible. I have issues with time sticking in cm6/7 and it caused my alarms/notifications not to work properly and it just was too much of a hassle for me as I need that to work normally. Other than that they're great ROM's. I'd say go CM7 and OC unless your phone absolutely won't do it.

Is info on how to go about doing this on this site? I've only done the basic rooting of the phone on both 2.1 & 2.2 (which is a lil more detailed) so I got a lil bit of know how. Besides people all over this forum seem to be pretty helpful to the point that if I screwed up I could get a lil help :D

thanks bud!!!:D

Really you should all flash CM7. The issue with time not working was fixed by enabling system persist while using ADW launcher and I did lock in home memory as well under CM settings ( Which alone wasn't working for me before. )... And that was just me personally and a few others with that issue so it may not even effect everyone.

Sonasam, you should really try posting a new thread with your issue, as it's unlikely that your question will be seen and answered in a timely manner by posting it at the end of a thread about a different issue.

As for the MMS/Data issue with PlayfulMod, you have to flash your phone to stock, then update to Metro's official 2.2, THEN flash PlayfulMod on top of it for everything to work. I verified the process myself, and created a NAND which PlayfulGod has converted into a flashable zip file so that you can shortcut the whole process, instead of going through what amounts to three flashes and about 30 minutes of your time.
