Question though ?! I never grabbed a phone from Bestbuy so will it come with all the accessories or just the main ones like charger and the phone itself if you get it from Bestbuy ?

Oh and speaking of cases and etc Case-mate.com has some of the best cases . They have cases for phones that just came out so I'm sure when EVO lands it will have some for that to . I just need a very nice fitted gel skin and I'm going to get one of those screen protectors that actually cover the entire (really called CLEAR ARMOR) phone not the screen . But it's a nice coat on the phone and is actually used to cover helicopter blades when in the desert to protect from sand . So you know that's hot . Link : Case-Mate HTC HD2 Clear Armor (Case-Mate CM010443), HTC Clear Armor - Invisible HTC Cases, Screen Protectors, Covers, Shields, Skins .

They give you nice descriptions of the products and all .

Does anyone know if Android will sync to hotmail contacts like gmail does? What I am trying to say is you can sync or download your contacts from your gmail account to match your cell phone. I currently am on win mobile and I use hotmail the same way as you would your gmail to do the same.

I don't think android pulls in your hotmail contacts like it does with gmail. But you will be able to get your hotmail e-mail. you'll still need a google account to use the phone though.

My Touch Pro was a normal, retail box. Came with the cool, LED lit HTC wall charger, some crappy headphones, a USB cable and some crappy screen protectors that were bubblicious. Also a CD and a manual. I think that's what that book is...haven't loked at it :D

I have never bought a phone at Best Buy. I've always gone to my local Sprint store. But I would think that you would get everything thats included with the phone that your buying just like you would at the Sprint store..but than again I am assuming..so forgive me if I am wrong.

You know I'm not really sure if it would sync with hotmail . that's a good question . I know on the boot up screen it gives you options to put all your info in from gmail and microsoft exchange and any other email accounts so I know you can set it up but sync wise hmm idk bud . would have to look into that. I wouldn't be to surprised if they had an app for it . I'm sure it can be done some way .

It's cake. That's where I purchased my TP a while back...they gave me all the regular discounts and service that I would get with Sprint. Plus, there's no MIR...whooop!

Just thought I'd contribute a little. I don't want to get into the argument about LCD vs AMOLED and if it's possible for HTC/sprint to do a last minute surprise. But in case you guys are wondering, most of HTC's screens come from a company in China (duh) called Toppoly. They manufacture LCD screens for different phone companies. Their site is down right now but here it is:

Samsung, Nokia, LG, Sony Ericsson, HTC, dopod

Here's their 7" screen:

Toppoly 7" AMOLED display at FPD international

And as for Samsung - yes they manufacture their own screens:

Samsung Mobile Display

And in fact their LCD TV screens are manufactured in a joint venture with Sony. So if you're wondering why their qualities and even features are eerily similar, that's why:

EETimes.com - Joint Sony, Samsung LCD factory opens

I'm an electrical engineer and I'm an active member of IEEE so I get a bunch of parts magazines and used to source parts for HP/Agilent. But been out of that world for a while now...just wanted to add some info in case you guys were wondering

My brother got a job at HP, back in 80, right out of college. HP transferred him to the medical products division, then HP spun it and instruments off into Agilent. Then Agilent sold med prod to Philips Medical. He has worked the same job for 30 years, but worked for 3 companies, lol.

Ok, so that was completely unrelated to the Evo, so I guess I will add my Evo comment, to keep this post relevant.

I have been involved with engineering companies and manufacturers of high tech products, for about 20 years. Every product from all the companies I have worked for have been delayed at some point. Usually 2-3 times our internal NDA only schedules get set back, then once we start telling the public an official release date, that frequently gets set back. Reason is, we are ALL optimistic and EXCITED about some great new thing, that is going to crush all competition, so out go the press releases.

The reality is, until a product is 100% complete and all QA is golden, there are still things that need to be worked out, before giving it to the rest of the world. So, Sprint is no dummy. They did not give us a solid release date, because they don't want to break that promise, should issues arise. Instead, they give us a general time of Q3 (Summer) and internally, they tell engineering to have it ready to go on the 13th (I am making assumption, based on Jackson's friend Dan).

Sprint did not tell us the 13th. That is an internal target ONLY. I suspect this is not a popular post, but I think it wise that we all take proposed release dates with a grain of salt.

I love that Jackson and others are giving us the inside scoop, but I am fully prepared for Sprint to tell us a July, August or even September release. If it happens in September, they were good on their promise. I am also prepared for a Q4 2010 relase. I am very used to technology set backs like that.

If this happens, try not to get mad and bad mouth HTC and Sprint. Trust me, set backs like that are not a bad thing. I have worked for companies that felt it was better to ship on time, than be sure it was working properly first. Companies that do that are a F-N nightmare!

Setting the right expectations is extremely important. Just the other day, I told a client that our Mac client was going to ship this month, but found out a few days later, that it was now going to be in December. Holy crap was the client ever pissed. If I had never set that expectation, I'd have a happy client and no problems. lesson learned ;)

So, lets hope and dream of May-June release dates, but don't bank on it. I am hoping just as much as anyone here!!:D:D:D

well said gekko . i see you went and took a look . but i think one thing wasn't stated . even though premiere customers get an early upgrade i think that upgrade is just 150.00 off and when we wait the entire 2yrs we get the full upgrade off . that's how it was for me when i upgraded to the hero back in october . unless they changed it . but i doubt . i could be wrong

As a premiere customer you are entitled to do as it has already been stated from sprint web site. New customer pricing every 12 months. with a 2 year contract extension.

Oh okay guys and ladies (don't want to call a lady a guy again lol) thanks much . But this is random .. I was turning on my HERO to listen to music and a text popped on the screen (SMS POP UP) and that can go in landscape mode . But I didn't want to reply at the moment and backed out it and the home screen was in landscape mode for about 5 seconds lols . It showed half of one screen and another . Wasn't functional as I tried to tap something really quickly to see . was just a minor glitch .

I hope they push landscape to 3.7 screens and bigger with and without physical keyboards on the home screen in future phones .

So your saying since I'm a premiere (even if I wasn't one but since I am) customer I can get 25% off like I would on accessories in a Sprint store and any other discounts that I would be qualified for at a Sprint store t Bestbuy ?

I don't believe so. I just meant purchasing a new phone. I believe the only way you can receive the accessory discount is in a Sprint store, or perhaps online/the phone.

no. the 25% Premier accessory discount is for Sprint Stores only. what he's saying is that Best Buy will give you the same Premier Upgrade Pricing as would Sprint.

for Accessories, i will be going to Sprint Retail for the 25% Premier Discount and for the OEM factor. UNLESS Best Buy sells an HTC-branded wall charger and car charger. i'd prefer HTC OEM vs. Sprint OEM for accessories but both trump that Rocketfish garbage.

Even though I am eligible for the $150 off I am going to best buy because of the extra discount up front instead of going through the MIR process with sprint.

Best Buy will give you the $150 discount. They just don't give you accessory discounts.

i think the Best Buy sales people are SLIGHTLY more professional than are the Sprint sales people. also the clientele is slightly better too. walk into any Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, or T-Mobile store and it's like the friggin Star Wars bar in there - both customers and staff - of course that's most of planet earth these days. i hate retail stores period and would prefer to make all my purchases on the internet so that i don't have to deal with the masses but unfortunately internet purchase adds to the wait.

Oh okay thanks polkadots gekko . Only thing I don't like about HTC accessories is the USB to the pc . It always comes apart at one end for me . Not really sure why . I'm always about taking care of my stuff . Or I get a shortage in the wall charger . Well, the old ones they had . But the new ones are better but the cable use comes apart on me ? All I need is a new car charger , gel skin , clear armor , headphones , and I'm good to go . If needed I hope they make the 3200mah battery for it to and I'll order it . It will look oh so bulky with it cause they give you a special back cause clearly the battery is to big . But then I could charge the standard battery while using the 3200mah . But I'm not to much of a heavy user . I just text a lot more then anything . When I get deeper in my profession I'm sure I will be .

Gekko , yea internet is smooth and I personally wouldn't mind waiting . the wait is usually a couple days for me even when ordered over the phone from sprint . and i learned from a youtube video on how to properly charge your battery to get the best use out of it when you first get it . and i also wouldnt mind the wait i mean you know it's coming right :-)

obviously charge it fully using the wall charger and don't use it when you first get it . but i heard when the light is green still give it 2-3hrs more cause it goes into a trickle mode and it's not exactly 100% just yet . then after that your good and use your phone until it dies then charge it the same way again but using the USB to the pc this time. I heard that's the condition part of charging then after that you can either condition it again after it dies of use or use it as you please and charge when needed like normally . just a tip for anyone ;-p

I really wish there was a filter that would allow me to block certain people's posts in this thread from appearing on my end. It's pretty obvious that some people just want to write something negative or combative about everything they see an opportunity to react to. And with the lack of real new news to discuss there is some pretty mindless back and forth chatter that looks like a sprintusers.com chat room.

Oh well, it is what it is, and even this post is pointless and off topic. I just wanted to say I don't approve of how this is turning out and I wish I could block certain people. Thanks to Jackson and all the original regulars who continue to contribute, you make it worthwhile to continue to keep up with this thread.

[end rant]

100% agree with a block user option. I use it all the time in the Yahoo stocks message boards. I could really have used a feature like that in the Incredible forum. Here is a million times better, but as the story of Evo gets long in the tooth, politeness is often overlooked.

I'm trying to figure out what the best place to buy from is, I'm looking at Sprint, Best Buy and Walmart. Looking at doing a 5 person family plan when the EVO comes out, none of us are on Sprint.
Both Best Buy and Walmart seem to have lower prices than Sprint, Walmart looks to be the lowest but it looks like it might just be a sale right now. I'm digging the fact that Walmart and Best Buy don't require mail-in rebates. The other thing is I know you can often get the activation fee waved but I am not sure who does that usually and under what circumstances.
Any suggestions?

I could be wrong (it does happen from time to time! :p), but I am pretty sure that most newer batteries don't need this conditioning phase. Basically with newer batteries, like the ones in a Pre, TP, Hero, EVO, etc... you don't have to condition or train the battery. You can charge it whenever, just to top it off if you want and you don't have to run them down low and recharge to full capacity. They don't have a "memory" like old school NiCad batteries.

What kind of batteries to the Pre, Hero, etc...have...NiMh or something like that?
