***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

OK, So my girlfriend ran to the grocery store tonight and ended up leaving her T-Mobile MyTouch 4G on the roof of her car... After a lot of searching, we finally found it..... in several pieces...

View attachment 23754

I'm now trying to talk her into ditching T-Mobile for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus since her phone is demolished. :p

My brother was able to "park" his old T-mobile line for $5 a month... Hopefully she can until her contract is up... and then we can add a new line to our family account for $10 mo + $30 Data... then we can divide the total bill between her, my brother, and me... Win Win Win situation!!! :D

Wow..that looks worse than when my DINC fell out of my pocket and I proceeded to run over it twice and then leave it out on a stormy October night (last year). In the process, I am convinced a dear tried eating it, as it had what looked like teeth marks on it when I found it the next morning.

Good luck with that...it is a truly awful situation to be in. Luckily I had insurance.*

*I know insurance was debated here, but I have to say that (for me, personally, IMHO, I think, etc) it is worth it. It is a bit expensive, but being able to submit a claim online and have the phone in my hand by 9am the next day is worth it. Even if I use it once (that is the only time I have used it), the convenience was so nice. I went on with my life as usual, and my phone appeared as soon as possible.

I have come to the conclusion that the Samsung galaxy nexus is nothing more then a conspiracy implemented by Verizon to drive us insane...

I think its working :D

I was about to say Goodnight, but then my mother (over the phone) asked what I was doing. I started to say "Tucking BabyBlues in". Lucking I caught myself...that would be a hard one to explain. So, instead, you get to laugh at me. :p

-Nkk

Lol. That's great. And I'm definitely not laughing AT you because I have had to stop mid sentence with people before I say something from the thread they just wouldn't get.

Ok, ok. It has been a fantastic ride watching everyone banter back and forth waiting for our precious. This has legitimately been the most exciting and aggravating wait for any product that I have experienced. I'm a tech lover and have always been on the Google/Android train. Honestly, I think most of that is b/c of the connex b/w Google and UMD. (Brin, Duarte) Quick random fact, Sergey Brin's parents live down the street from my neighbor's parents. He still teaches Math at UMD.

I can't wait for ICS and the GNex to come out. My wife has no idea why I'm so excited or why I should spend $300 for it. She totally makes fun of me for how much I've been geeking out for this phone. I watched the ICS/Nexus press conference live on my computer, which was a tech geek first for me...I thought it was a big step! Then I saw Matias rockin' the white sport coat like Leisure Suit Larry and I was hooked...had nothing to do with the OS at all! :p

Can't wait to share experiences and apps and roots and everything else that will be on our new toys! I'll try to contribute, but really I look to you guys for guidance.

Awright, Steven58, since you insist.

I'm looking forward to going from my WinMo 6.5 Omnia II to joining the Android revolution. I started researching upcoming Android devices back in March, and quickly pinpointed the Galaxy S II as the one I wanted. Of course, six months later, Verizon smacked down those plans. I figured I'd wait another couple months and see what else would turn up, and of course wound up joining the Nexus roller coaster ride.

Been following this thread since the beginning of October, and I honestly can't wait to see it end... because that'll mean I've finally got a Nexus in my hands :)

Welcome to the forum!

Since I'm bored & the thread is slow right now I will ask some ?s:

1.)If I order this online how do I activate it(I'm not the main line on the account)?

Can't think of my other ? right now

You would just dial *228 and option 1.

Welcome to the forum! My girlfriend makes fun of me for my "obsession". :D

No longer lurking, been following this thread since late September I think. I've been waiting for a new phone since last summer. I was leaning towards the Bionic but was unimpressed as launch neared. Wanted a Galaxy S2 but Verizon said no. My GF who is on AT&T got an S2 and that phone is exactly what I was looking for. If the Nexus gives me an S2 experience with an HD screen and LTE I'll be happy.

This is one of the more mysterious tech releases I've ever witnessed though. So much secrecy. This reminds me of the Sega Saturn release. Didn't hear anything about it then all of the sudden it was in stores with no warning. I'm on an OG droid running GPA/BB 19 OC'd to 1.2ghz. I can't complain to much, my droid runs great for a droid but after using the S2 it is painful to wait as apps load. As much as I've enjoyed this thread, I'm looking forward to the day when I no longer have reason to check it. I'm always hoping that day is tomorrow.

Looks like Verizon got the branding on there after all

For 4g phones, that does not work. What you do instead is activate the SIM, and any phone said SIM is in is thus be default activated. So you call a number given on the instructions that come with the SIM and then type in your phone number and order # and then stick the SIM in your phone and you are good to go. Then, whenever you need to switch 4g phones, just swap the SIM (like people in the rest of the world have been doing forever on GSM networks) and you can start using the new phone.

Thanks nkk. I learned something new today.

Interesting. If the battery is not different then what is the one "tweaked spec" (according to source) the VZW versions will be getting?

Edit: I guess the 32GB storage option?

If you look at features it also says extended battery door needed, which seems to indicate this version is different than the standard one. hmmmmm.....

So much of what you said mirrors my situation.

I had never watched a phone announcement before - never thought I would!! But this phone has got me jacked!!

Good to know - I would have just *228 and been angry it wasn't working. haha

Me too. I was hoping for 1850mAh as we were told last week. Still not a deal breaker but I would feel better with 1850 than 1750mah battery.

I don't think it's going to stop any of us! Can't be nearly as bad as the ReZound with it's 1620?mAh battery. I would prefer 1850, but 1750 isn't going to make me flinch.
