***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I'm excited about Prime in that it's really the best of both world, top notch hardware and software. When google releases new major OS update, it also needs to raise bar on hardware too in my opinion. Nexus S was criticized for having nearly the same hardware as SGS with only curve design, NFC. Some folks on bionic forum are saying hardware spec is not as important as software refinement. Though there is some points to it, these days who wants to go back to OG droid, nexus one like spec to have battery lasting three days?

Wow. That looks brilliant! 5.3" is really pushing size for phone, but it's also like mini tablet with stylus pen, HD display. I don't see it fits in pocket easily but it wouldn't be hard to carry around.

When I saw 5.3" on GT-I9220 spec leaked a few weeks back, I thought it was typo for 4.3". Looks like they just nailed it. Then probably they also got 4.65" on GT-I9250 (Prime) right. I can see some people nit picking on its screen size then. But if bezel is designed properly with software buttons on bottom, it wouldn't be problem for me.

I've been catching a couple of the hands-on videos of the Galaxy Note.

I'm a fan of big screens, but that's just too big. I think people are going to look like idiots walking around with that thing up to their ear, unless they're morbidly obese and over 6'4" with huge catchers mitts for hands.

Before I thought 5" would be the limit for me, but I'm thinking 4.5" would probably be it. That thing just looks huge. Forget about putting that thing in your pocket unless you're wearing pajamas or slacks with deep pockets. No way that's fitting in my jeans.

Oh come on Bluefire. Just go to the store and buy some straps, superglue them to the sides of the phone and carry the phone on your back like a backpack. It's not a big deal.....

I saw some guys even hacked original 7" tab to add phone function to it. you can also use bluetooth headset for voice talks.

I want more leaks here, guys, or I'm gonna telling mommy on you.

On a slightly different topic, does anyone know what the Droid HD/Spyder is supposed to finally be? Do we know the model number? Obviously, with the "Droid" moniker, it's going to be a Verizon phone. But the interesting thing, which I never noticed before, is the lack of capacitive buttons on the Droid HD. I thought that was only for ICS at this point??

Does anyone have any thoughts? It just now occurred to me.

Edit:

On this one, you can see some kind of buttons on the bottom, but I can't tell if they're capacitive or software on-screen buttons.

Edit 2: Looks like those probably are capacitive buttons after all. In the other pics you can see where the screen ends, which is above where these buttons are. Never mind, everyone. False alarm. As you were.

curious...why don't you just wait instead of wasting that upgrade?

Because I have 3 total upgrades. The phones change major hardware specs every 9-12 months, so even if I burn two within a couple of months of each other, I still have the last one to burn in a year if something comes out then that I can use.

Plus, my current OG DROID is on its last leg, battery life has gone down the tubs (yes, battery reset performed, on both batteries - they're just old, and have used and charged daily, so...), WiFi keeps dropping every 3 minutes, and 256 MB is not enough for me to even keep the Phandroid App b/c I'm already running GV, BW and Swype. Anything else and the phone starts lagging horribly.

I want more leaks here, guys, or I'm gonna telling mommy on you.

Leak - VZW will be offering a new version of the iPhone 5 (a second release, not the first one) around February. This time the phone will be a real upgrade, not just a color upgrade.

lying to me is totally ok, too. :)

OK, Mommy likes me better than you. :p

(At least now I know how Steven has 10 times the number of posts as God....

I was rummaging around and realized that the fabled GT-I9250 and the SCH-i515 are basically the same phone, for 2 different carriers, Verizon and Vodafone.

So with the GT-I9250 passing through wifi certification and popping up on a support page at Samsung, I'm wondering if we might see something similar with the SCH-i515 (Droid Prime) soon?

Bluefire, what did P3Droid & BlackmanX say? I don't do Twitter and it's asking me to log in.

Is he saying that the Prime passed WI-FI certification? Or did you mean Bluetooth? If it has passed both now, that's great news!

I don't do Twitter either (don't have an account). That's weird.

They are only referring to the 9250 (not ours).

Anyway, what they're both basically saying is that the Prime is being released in both GSM and CDMA variants. Apparently the 9250 is the GSM version (for Vodafone) and the 515 is for Verizon's CDMA network.

Also, it should be noted that P3Droid leaked long before BGR did that the SCH-i515 was Verizon's version of the Prime. So he does definitely have credibility.

Unfortunately, he has been saying not to expect it until late November through late December. So I'd also like to call him a filthy liar.

Screw the name - they can call it "ICS bring jollies to every geek's underwear" for all I give a damn about.

Just sell the #$%^@%^ @thing already!

If someone asks me what kind of phone that is, I'm not calling it that, or ICS-BJTEGU.

It has to be a dignified name, or I'm not buying it.

Either Droid Prime or Droid Maximus.

Nothing else.

Interesting. I want a damn date, though. Can you look for that instead, bluefire? I mean, I like all these little leaks you and Chief come up with, but how about you go out and you don't come back until you have a damn date?

:p

I share your frustration. We're just bringing back any scraps we find. ;)

Nexus Prime FINALLY officially announced and will go on all major networks with simple different names. . due out November 15th ! ! !

OK OK, lol relax I'm just messing with you guys. . i was for a moment considering making a long thread just to mess a bit, than at the very end ruining it all, but I decided that just a little bit was good enough. .

Well I'm glad that there is this forum made just for the Prime, so I couldn't hold back from registering.

Really can't wait any longer so I thought I'd join you guys here.

I was really waiting on the GSII but considering it got released so late into this year why not wait for the Prime. . So now I am really impatient. .like the "I'm loosing it" kind. .they just need to make an announcement already.

The GSII had their announcement at this time for the simple purpose of trying to beat others to the punch before ICS is officially out.

I think that Google should do the same with Apple, and try and release it before apple does the iphone. OR maybe they are waiting to see what apple has to offer, and see if the Prime would be good enough competition. .I say this because most of Apple's customers in "MY" opinion are not really spec readers type of people, but more of hooked on them because of looks and the UI, which is understandable. And since apple's main customers were normally business people considering their laptops, and desktops they will stick with apple all the way without ever reading any specs, or inner workings of the device, as they simply don't care as long as it looks good and has a smooth UI. .Plus owning an Ipod/Iphone/Ipad/Apple Laptop/Desktop has been the cool thing to have either to carry it around at the coffee house, or simply show it off to others. .Therefore I think the Iphone will again not have a problem selling devices no matter what its competition is. .I have used Iphones all the time as a lot of people around me have them, and I LOVE the smoothness of the UI, but I am still not really looking forward at looking to get one, , instead I am going with the Prime for personal reasons. .

and as far as UIs go, apple has a smooth UI because it uses its GPU for drawing, instead of CPU as Android uses, ,but isn't Ice Cream Sandwich suppose to use the GPU as well ? ? can somebody confirm that ? ?

I personally think that the Prime will be just as the GSII was just announced, meaning they might just have different names for different carriers. . and that's why we see a few different model numbers out there. .maybe some have been downgraded, and some have been upgraded going by whatever control the carriers might have over them, who knows.

This website shows the Roadmap of release dates for samsung . . . http://limitlessdroid.com/2011/08/19/new-samsung-roadmap-leaks-this-time-with-release-info/

I have never owned an Android device, and have always been a Symbian type, but after doing much research I have come to decide on the Prime.

One other question, does it bother you guys at all the the Prime might have a 5 megapixel comparing to the 8 that phones are being released at now ?

I have personally had a 5 megapixel Carl Zeiss on my Nokia for many years now, and was expecting something a bit higher. .at the same time I know that its the sensors that would matter. .but after so many years of a GREAT 5 meg camera on my phone I don't feel that this camera on the Prime would be any upgrade for me. . .Just wanted to get your thoughts on the camera part of this phone considering where other devices are at.

And this thing BETTER be on T-mobile.
