What about the pictures I have saved on my OG Droid?

Backup via google/picassa, or dropbox, or a million other things lol

If we're talking photos, your pictures will be on the SD card under a folder structure that begins DCIM (for digital camera images, it's an industry standard).

Find your pictures there for transfer over to your new Nexus! :)

Whoever sees the Galaxy Nexus PR or finds the online order/preorder first should put it in hide tags to give those who read all of them a slight advantage on getting it first! ;)

We are possibly 2-3 days from launch and still nothing...

Cmon VERIZON!

Alright, regarding NFC payments and Google Wallet vs. Isis. At first I was thinking this was no big deal. Isis will probably work just fine. But with all the talk I got to thinking. What right do ANY of the carriers have to determine what app I use to make NFC payments. They are not a banking company. Wireless tether, data caps or throttling, I may not like it, but I can buy that. It's their infrastructure that they paid for, if something has an ability to degrade their service, they reserve the right to deal with it. NFC payments, no way, its none of their business. Verizon, You have your hand in my wallet for my monthly bill, because I allow you to. Get it the Hell out for anything else.

Rant over.

Not only this, but the Nexus will ship without ANY way of using NFC to make payments, right? Isis is not ready to go and won't be on the device. This is most frustrating to me. I would at least try Isis if it were on the phone.

So the next question is, will the Nexus ever get Isis and how long will it take if it does? Pardon me if I missed any info that explains this, but I haven't seen anything.

Verizon really should have allowed Google Wallet on this phone if its intended to be a true "Nexus" phone with a pure Google experience. I don't mind the extra couple apps but they handicapped this phone by restricting one of Google's services that I was very excited about.

Bingo! This is my biggest issue! If they don't allow us to install (without rooting, etc) thats anticompetitive, and I don't see how that would fly past the FTC. Well put!

Sort of OT:
What's the best way to transfer contacts from Android to a fruit phone? Not for me, my daughter wants one when I get my Nex. I'm thinking Backup Assistant, or maybe letting the Verizon guy do it, but maybe there's a better way. Thanks.

Set up gmail as Microsoft Exchange (rather than gmail) on iPhone and you can sync contacts, calendar and get push mail. Use m.google.com for server, domain blank.

Agreed completely. I'm holding out hope that the WSJ article is correct and that Verizon will allow users to download Wallet from the Market, it just won't be pre-installed.

I hope this article is right. But I don't have much optimism on this subject at the moment.

Connecting to your PC via USB is probably your best bet, just drap and drop all the files from the DCIM folder. Also, Dropbox is very easy as well- download from the market and its pretty self explantory- it will show all your local files and ask you what you want to load to the cloud. Dropbox is probably your best bet if you want to keep your files for overall backup, incase your HDD on your PC fails :).

Also, like someone said above the app DropSnap will do this all automatically for you as soon as you take a photo, but youll still need to load up all the content you currently have.
Thank you! :D I'm not really tech savy. Can you recommend a good app?

Talked to my corporate store and he had heard Friday too but couldn't officially confirm it. Took my name so he can call me when I can swing by and get it (when its official of course).

At this point if it were to come out on Friday why would they even do a pre-order.

Report: Galaxy Nexus to cost $299 - The Washington Post

Says it will be $299, no date so far.

They do mention this about google wallet:
"One of the Galaxy Nexus’s functions, however, will not be a part of its U.S. release: the ability to pay with Google Wallet by using the chip. A report from the Associated Press said that Verizon is not enabling Google Wallet on its phones, likely because the company is involved in Isis, a competing payment system that uses NFC technology."

The part that troubles me the most is "not enabling... ...Isis, a competing payment system"

It's only Tuesday, so if they're going to have pre-order they will HAVE to make an announcement tomorrow at the latest, otherwise they can wait until Friday morning to announce it and if it's going to be available on the 9th and you want it then you'll have to walk in to a store to get it (if no announcement today or tomorrow). :)

Was there a PR when the Rezound came out? Didn't it just "appear" in stores without a word? Hopefully Thursday is the day they release, and if so, I wouldn't mind them skipping the PR. It will sure make it easier to get one on release day without waiting in line.

OT Beer:

A little late to the party on this one, but my friend just sent me this:

Might be the best beer name ever!

Evil Twin Soft Dookie - Evil Twin Brewing - Valby, Denmark - BeerAdvocate

Although i would probably refrain from drinking it.

Still like this name.:D
