***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Screw it, I'm going to try to get a Galaxy Nexus tomorrow.

Stop #1 - VZW Authorized place down the street from me.
Stop #2 - Best Buy
Stop #3 - Radio Shack.
Stop #4 - VZW Corporate Store, force them to take my money and give me the damn phone.

Seriously it's coming out any day now, it's in stores, this delay is so stupid. We've been waiting forever for the phone, Verizon should just let stores sell the phone if they have it, it'd help them out immensely.

Good dreams ehh! Thanks for sharing it's a special place indeed ;)
Well It was a strange one.. I was in a restuarant (of a big hotel, having breakfast) with my Mom, next then I noticed some people standing next to me (we were still eating btw). One was a customer asking about phones, another the Verizon rep (who was the same one I just saw yesterday IRL, lol) and he busted out the Gnex from the breast pocket of his suit jacket-- except it was HUGE (really it was cartoon size!) and while they were admiring it, I couldnt help myself, I butted into the conversation and asked if I could hold it..initially the rep didnt seem to hear me, (or care) then finally said ok and nonchalantly handed it to me, yet as I was about to actually hold it...I woke up:mad: Yeah that was it! Not only is Verizon denying me this phone, my own mind is playing tricks on me...Errrggg!!

I like this attitude lol :)

Whoever this manager is at Radio Shack...I don't know about him. He said the truck hadn't run yet, but he saw no reason why he couldn't sell one Friday if they got them in today, lol.

hey buddy, doubt coscto will be selling them. I called my local one and he said, we're supposed to but we're not sure if it's being released tomorrow. So your costco probably just hasn't gotten the news yet.

I called one before that and they said no. The second said yes. I'm calling them later to confirm how many they receive. And please don't call me buddy. It can be taken as you talking down to me.

These .10C apps/games are surprisingly keeping me preoccupied from stressing out about the GN. Been playing a lot of Flick Golf, GLWG, and now Reckless Getaway.

If this is true, it brings back the last minute change of heart by Verizon to include Wallet in the release as a possibility. If downloading from the market is not possible that is.

Feasible reasons for delay:
1. OTA required upon activation not ready
2. LTE outage results in poor service on newly launched device
3. Changed mind on including Wallet, and are rushing an addition to the OTA going out on launch day.

Not feasible reasons for delay:
1. Verizon execs upset their thunder was stolen, and threw a temper tantrum, delaying it and locking down info so they are the ones who get to break the news.
2. Steven called up and asked for a few more days, cause he loves this thread too much.
Your "feasable" list is what I have been believeing (hey, it's my perogative, right? ;)). The GN requires an OTA within 2 hours of activation (per the now squashed December 9th materials). If the network or the update have any issues, they would push it back. As for the GW issue, I think I am just wishing myself. :)

They're denying you the phone in your dreams how cruel!! My dreams, although rare, most often come true. I wished I had the crazy kind like that :p

Forgive me if this has been asked before, but are there any drawbacks to purchasing a phone from an "authorized Verizon retailer" vs. a corporate VZW store?

There's a VZW retailer very close to where I work that would be much easier to get to than the nearest corporate store. It's a Cellular Sales ( Cellular Sales, Verizon Premium Wireless Retailer | ) store.

One thing that I can think of is that VZW Retailers dont have to honer ne2 $50 discount. Many do but some dont.

I think any of the indirect or third party retailer stores saying it's still coming out tomorrow probably haven't got the memo/word of the delay. It would be great if some people scored one Friday but...yeah, not sure.

But it should be emphasized if you need a phone for calls and can't get it activated, you're without a working phone for voice calls. Personally that just doesn't work for me.
Good morning all nexiholics!!
Ok, I must explain myself. I am now certain I have lost it! I finally had a dream about the phone. (Thanks, Cincy, lol!) So, my first inclination when I woke at 8:30, was to share it with all you! Instead, I decided to try to catch up the thread to this morning....Bad idea! I gave up around 9:15AM (that's time of post, not actually 9:15AM) and tried to scan til now. Even so, I realize this is a rediculous amount of multi-quoting..
I have gone so deep now that I have logged in on my PC as I type from my phone so I can try to time this reply so it doesn't get buried. I apologize to the new members that I have missed this morning, welcome to you all, too!

Finally, just gonna reiterate, how special Android forum is. I have read about ( and began to myself) share more real-life details with the fine folks here than anywhere else on the internet. That is a special thing! Now, to catch up on what I missed while writing this....
Believe it or not I haven't had a dream about the phone but after listening to me talk about this phone nonstop for the last three months my wife had a dream about the phone for me. Do you think that means she wants one also. :)

Is that the one in the Southpoint Mall? I'm here on business and was thinking about stopping by to see if I could at least check out the phone, not buy it since I promised by buddy the commission. I've got nothing else to do tonight, so figured it'd at least be worth a shot to try and get some time with the Nexus.

Not Southpoint, but check it out ... all the stores around here seem to have stock. So just a matter if they let you touch the merchandise. They have it!

Not really. Although in my experience the re-sellers don't get the latest greatest in stock as fast. That however might not be the case for yours. Cellular sales is in ATL as well and I have purchased through them (Bionic)

I have a crazy story for everyone!

I was at Starbucks this morning at about 9:30 AM and there was a Verizon Premium Retailer next door so I decided to stop in. I asked if he had any demo units of the Galaxy Nexus and he said no but they received a bunch of units to sell yesterday and could sell me one today.

I played dumb and said "I'll take one right now". He went into the back, got one out and started getting it ready for the sale. We confirmed it was 32 GB, placed the SIM card in and started proceeding through the activation and sale. He said it showed up in his system to sell so he could sell it to me! As I'm waiting for him to finish up the paperwork I'm having images of me taking a picture of myself with my new Nexus and posting it on here. I was thinking "I hope that doesn't close the thread!" I kept pacing in the store waiting for the sale to be complete. I thought I was about to pull off the swindle of the century.

Well unfortunately we got to a point where he didn't know if the upgrade price should be $299 or $399 so he had to call his manager. He called and the manager told him he could not sell me the Nexus today and that Verizon had asked them not to sell the units yet. I said "come on, I won't tell anyone" (yeah right). He said he couldn't because it would show up in inventory and he'd get in trouble but he took my number and said he'd call me as soon as he received the OK to sell them.

I WAS SOOOOOOO CLOSE!!!

Well at least this confirms that there is no "LOCK" on activating the SIMs or the Nexus and if you can trick someone into letting you buy one then congratulations you get one early! I called a few more stores after that but unfortunately all of the others were more knowledgeable than this one... Good luck Nexus pioneers!
That is so (almost) freaking awesome!:p

These 10 cent apps are really making this wait much much worse... I would like to purchase them and use them at 10 cents... but either the app is not compatible with my OG Droid or I don't have the storage space for it, so I can't actually buy it now to have at least for when I DO get the Nexus... sigh...

Come on Verizon... enough - make it happen, I am so disappointed in you right now it's not even funny anymore.

I have no doubt that there are going to be a few to get this phone tomorrow. It will be the final nail in the coffin for a failed launch by Verizon.

I think I might get lucky in that aspect but Im trying to not get my hopes up. My rep asked his manager and said he would sell me it today if they came in. I would piss myself. :p

Ha! I said the exact same thing in one of my first posts. :p

I think we joined around the same time. I remember that string of "More cowbell" related posts...man that was so many pages ago. We were still even debating as to whether this would pass the Droid Incredible thread back then! Silly us:D

That's dangerous in Boston :)
I've been living here for 6 years now, I go to Opening Day at Fenway every year in my Yankees jersey (Rivera, obviously). Never been hassled once.. of course, it probably helps that I'm 6'2. ;)

Enjoy the next Dice-K. As a Red Sox fan, I know I would enjoy the Yankees having him.
