I think instead of getting the Nexus, I'll go and pick up the ZM1983. What? You guys aren't familiar? And to think.. I thought you guys actually knew about cell phones.


Fiiiine. I'll clue you in. The ZM1983 is the best of the best. More commonly known as the Motorola DynaTAC, the phone helped Zack Morris out of more jams than you can even imagine. The ZackMorris1983 also is a complete chick magnet. So why sit here and drool over a phone that keeps getting delayed, when you can have a real hunk of technology that is sure to get the ladies to look your way? Just sayin'!

That is one of the rumours. The 4s and RAZR are both on the iconic list, but they did push the rezound on me so it must not be. I'm still hoping the SGN won't be so I can buy one before Christmas.

Surprised they say a phone is iconic that they continually refuse to admit even exists...

You have me freaking out... like literally, heart-pounding, walls closing in... complete panic mode. A quick Google search showed others with similar issues when the iPhone4s came out. I haven't gotten a grasp on the exact terms and conditions that go along with it, but I'm too panicked to read.

Please tell me that I haven't been waiting for nothing. Please tell me I didn't just sell my Droid X on eBay because I knew I could get the Nexus anyday now... please tell me what I need to hear so I can live to see tomorrow, lol. (kidding of course)...

But seriously, what's the deal with this?

The Razr is an iconic device? Ha. What are the guidelines for labeling a phone with this stupid title? Seems they will just be using this term more and more loosely until you can't use discounts on any phone that someone would remotely be interested in.
 
I wonder how long Verizon has exclusivity with the GNex, I am sure there is a time limit in the contract?....Is there a chance another carrier would be able to sell it before Verizon (or closely thereafter). I know BigRed has a great network, but for spite, I would go with another carrier. I know a lot of people are like "Well Verizon never promised any dates!" I don't give a flip, I think it is wrong that the phone has been released in every other country except for the US....that is wrong on so many levels. Good job Verizon, way to F up what could've been a positive thing for you!

Call *611 and ask about moving your upgrade date up. Make sure to mention you want to get a GN when it comes out. They'll tell you all about the ICONIC list. I'm out of contract, so I can do the upgrade no issue. I was trying to get it done on my other lines, so it's not that big of a deal to me.

They expect based on demand the GN will be on the ICONIC list for many, many months. Right now the iPhone 4s is still on the ICONIC list!

I believe it's based on demand. The GN is VERY high demand according to 2 CSRs I've talked to. Both have indicated it'll be on the ICONIC list for a loooong time.

I wondered the same thing a while back. How Long was the nexus s and exclusive before it went to other carriers?
 
Morning all. I don't know about you, but I'm glad its Monday. News and leaks slow WAY down on the weekend :) After two days of arguing the same old stuff, I hope we see some new info today, or at least a few more phone sales, to talk about!

I'll call when I can. Again, I'm without a cell phone at the moment so I'll need to wait until my gf gets back. But what do you mean about moving my upgrade date up? I currently have an upgrade available. Will that alter how the ICONIC list affects me?

Right this very second, I have an upgrade available and $300 in cash that I had planned on using on the 9th. Plus we also have over $1,000 that can billed to the account. We have 6 phones and 2 tablets on our family share plan, so I'm thinking that gives me some leverage, no?

Any help/advice is appreciated. I'm so worried right now that I won't be able to get the phone that I can't think straight, lol. I've done nothing but read blogs, articles and tweets about the phone for the past month... and in the last week or so it has completely consumed my life. I've never run into this issue in the past so I was not even aware there'd be a chance I couldn't get it when it finally came out.

It's for the people that have upgrade dates in the future. For example, I have a few lines that are March/April. You can call and get an exception made to allow an upgrade today. However, since the GN will be on the ICONIC list, the exception won't allow me to use the upgrade to get the GN on those lines.

Clarification question... But, if we already have an upgrade available, will we be able to use it on the GN (assuming the GN is ever released)??

Have Droid or i branding. Mainly does seem like a marketing plot

I don't know anything about iconic phones. My upgrade was moved up for the Razr and my wife's is being traded and upgraded when the Nexus comes out...

Is it a early upgrade or your do for an upgrade?
My upgrade is due 12/29 so I'm not sure if I can purchase before then.
 
I'll either take a hit now or later, meaning I pay full price now then I'm month to month in April or take the hit later and be stuck under contract for another 2 years.
It's probably cheaper to take the hit now and pay retail for the phone that way I have options later.
 
Morning everyone -- my fellow Nexians.

Had a busy weekend away from the forums, but I guess it was good to get away, take a step back and enjoy some real life stuff instead of obsessing over the phone since I know that's all I will be doing this week.

Did I miss any major news this weekend, besides people getting phones from BB and RS? Didn't seem like anything crazy -- mostly caught up, but just wanted to make sure I didn't miss any huge news.

Here is to hoping that the release date is actually Thursday and we can all post to the Phandroid app from our Nexii (??) in our new lounge thread.

Off to work -- catch up with you all from there.
 
Morning folks.

I had dreams all night that I would be able to walk into the store today and be sold a Nexus. It wasn't just one dream, but many. I really hope a soft launch kicks off today, and they're putting them out this morning.
