I'm tempted to order online. Even though I'm off all day tomorrow, I called my corporate store and told them I had to run in and out to get to work and I wouldn't have time to wait for them to activate my GNex. I asked if I could activate it on my own. The guy gave some line about them having to activate it to make sure it is working. I asked him if that's the way it is for people who purchase online. He said no, they enter a code to activate it. He then contradicted himself and said they are pre-activated for online buyers.

I not a pushy consumer and I know if I buy in store I won't be able to talk them out of opening my phone and activating it on the spot. I don't want to wait though. I guess I just have to live with the fact that I won't be the one to open the box. :(
 
The news broke while I was on my way home from work! YEAH!!!!! :D
By happenstance, I missed the shuttle from the subway to my apartment, so took my other route by city bus...which happens to stop right next to my BJs across from my apartment. Stopped in and saw my rep who had just himself gotten the news! Also, he'd just gotten in a working demo unit! So, at long last, I got to briefly hold and play with it and evaluate the screen quality. Conclusion....

It's good enough!! Rezound's being traded in at 9am!!!

I hope. Ironically, asinine as this sounds, he said they haven't received ANY actual phone shipments yet and they hope to get some in by the time they open tomorrow. So, I'm going to hope it's there else I'll just be making myself late to work for nothing and be stuck waiting til about 7pm otherwise. (My place doesn't take reservations nor appointments).

Also found out that crappy $50 mailer was just my New Every Two, as others have said, so I'll just have to eat the $35 restocking fee. Oh well. :)

Oh, and my rep did confirm that the external speaker on the GNex is definitely lower than he expected. I guess that's just a tradeoff I'll have to accept. Anyway, it's been a hell of a ride up in this thread!!! WHOOOOOOO!!!!
 
How early are you all going to arrive? my store normally opens at 10, but tomorrow (this entire week, holiday hours?) they open at 9. I was going to aim to get there at 8:30. If there are people outside already, I'll join the line. Otherwise I'll hang in my car and as soon as I see someone line up, I'll join them. Worst case, I will be #2 in line. :) Or do you all think 30 minutes early isn't enough?

Some verizon stores are still playing stupid. The two I called couldn't confirm they had any stock. So I asked, "IF it were to launch tomorrow, would you have plenty in stock?" they said yes, and I said I'll see you at 9

This would be VZW BS. When you order it online and have it shipped to your house. You would need to activate it on your own.

What is everyone's experience as far as early upgrades? My upgrade date is 12/29 but of course I can't wait 15 more days to get this phone. What I'm being told is that they cannot adjust the date. Said I qualified for an early upgrade for a $20 fee, but I'm not eligible for the $50 discount until the 29th.

Should I just keep calling back until I get the right CSR to change the date? No luck so far with the two I've spoken with.

True, but being this is a BJs kiosk instead of a full store, I'm not terribly shocked as they don't have much room to store stuff. I'm optimistic, though...and a few blocks away from another full store at worst. I think what I've learned over the past month with my Rezound is....

I can't stand SenseUI!!! :D Not that it's a bad overlay (it does have some nice features), but it's just in my way in a manner that Blur never was. I wonder how ICS will look all Sensed up though...

Local corporate store confirmed 'plenty' of stock, and selling at 10AM opening.
Thought about buying online tonight, but I want that thing in my hands and waiting till Friday would be agonizing.

Will be one of many reporting that their Nexus has landed tomorrow AM.
