I got the Nexus notification about two hours AFTER I successfully placed my order online with VZW.

Derp!

Funny enough, I actually got the Nexus notification e-mail right at 1 AM EST. I thought to myself, "Wow, they're actually on time!".

I guess that's not the case all around. :o

Sooooo pumped for u all, getting mine as soon as I off load the little ones to school. Hope to be in before the lock. Congrats to all!

Good Morning. First and last post on this thread.

1) Thank you for all of the information, I have what I thought was an "inside source" in corporate, he still hasn't called or texted.
2) Ordered my Gnex at 12:32 AM Central, should arrive tomorrow by 3pm.

Hopefully, I can find where to order the extended battery, car docks, etc. on the new thread.

Happy Holidays to all!!!

What is everyone with the phones opinion on the external speaker? Is it loud enough for things like speaker phone, pandora, music, etc?

This is my main standing concern. I'm happy with my Droid X and noted that some people thought he Nexus was too quiet.

Thanks!

Just ordered mine over the phone! For $150 savings, I can wait a few more days. I got Verizon to give me my NE2 discount 14 days earlier and the $100 3g to 4g discount! I'm in California btw.

FYI, the system wouldn't allow the specific discounts to be applied to the order. The CSR said she would just over ride the system and give me a credit for $170 (extra $20 is the early upgrade fee that they waived).

See you guys over on the development side!

I signed up three times for the Verizon information. Have not yet received anything.

I actually have 3 separate e-mail accounts that I signed up for notifications...and from 3 separate places (google.com/nexus, vzw.com, and samsung.com). Guess how many notifications I've received so far?

0. Zilch. Nada.

Man, if I was relying on their e-mail to be "one of the first to get the Galaxy Nexus", I'd be a saaaaaaaaaaaad panda right now

Mine is activated. I drove back to work and just finished the update. It did update all of my contacts and downloaded the apps. Just starting to play around with it. Looks beautiful. Coming from OG droid, this is bigger but it's lighter but still seems solid. Doesn't feel too light but not a brick either. I will have to test the camera but so far so good.

i just wanted to thank everyone that has contributed to this crazy, wild ride we've been on the last few months. i feel like i'll be leaving a small part of me behind when this thread is locked. i've checked in here everyday for the last 2 months and frankly i don't know what i'll do to pass the time at work lol. happy nexus day everyone and enjoy your phones!

Well, I did have a long response about the reason to get a Nexus right here, but it didn't seem to save so I posted a blank post. EMBARRASSING!

Help me decide!

So I finally got to see this in person. It is very nice. My Verizon store had it hanging there with the thin plastic back off.
I tried to snap it back in and it wouldn’t hold. This didn’t make a big diff to me, but it made the phone feel awkward.

Got to test the camera. I know megapix aren’t important, but a few test shots and it was clear to me that the camera compared to the 4s or the rezound is pretty bad. I put weight on this feature, a lot of people might not, but I do. However, if that is outweighed by other features or benefits then I want to know.

I know I am risking starting a sh*t storm and I don’t want to spoil the party. But can someone in simple terms tell me other than the camera what I am gaining with this phone over the Rezound?

What is the benefit of having a nexus phone?

The chief benefit of a Nexus phone is that you'll get Android updates first, from Google rather than through the carrier.

Along with that benefit comes an ability to easily unlock the bootloader and permanently root the phone (equivalent to Admin access on a PC - more freedom) - and also - almost no carrier bloatware on the Nexus and what's there can be removed once you have root.

Permanent rooting isn't out yet for the Rezound and it's a generation behind in the OS versions - the Nexus is the first phone to distribute with Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich.

Fans of both the Rezound and the Nexus will argue the finer points of their hardware preferences - both are great phones, with offsetting features and advantages.

Hope that helps!
