Guys, I had a less than desireable experience at the vzw corporate store. First off, they dinged me $20 for an early upgrade fee even though I had my final new every 2 coming up in only 2 weeks. I found out that is normal and needs to be credited by calling vzw on the phone. So if you find yourself in that boat, call and ask for the $20 to be credited.

Also, the CH4GE promotion is still valid for the Midwest region, whatever that encompasses, until the end of the year. I was denied this in the store, but easily got it over the phone and the rep even said the store is crazy for not actually promoting it b/c it's a way to increase business for them.

So my whole story...I got $20 credited for the early upgrade fee, $100 credited for the upgrade from 3G to 4G and they threw in another $50 loyalty credit b/c of how I got jacked around in the store which I didn't even ask for. I was very calm on the phone and did nothing but express my disappointment as a long term customer. Thought this may be worthy info for many people.

Also, I am now playing with my brand spankin new Galaxy Nexus. Life is good. :D

I thought you were getting some strange service from that guy. He seemed pretty nervous! lol. Nice meeting you and good luck with your Nexus. I am loving mine (although the signal strength blows compared to my Rezound but I kind of expected that).

Thanks everyone for the last few weeks of humor, frustration, laughs, and finally relief. I feel like we all "know" each other somehow now. It's like a big dork fraternity! LOL
 
I'm not really good at writing long posts full of heart, but I definitely needed to post something to end this thread.

I registered for AF two years ago when I got my OG Droid and never really came around because school got in the way, but then I heard about the Galaxy Nexus. I came back to AF and found out that I already had an account here and this site wasn't blocked at work. The thread seemed to be pretty friendly so I figured I could stay and hang out for a bit. I thought I would post a few times a day at the most and just try to get as much info as possible, but boy was I wrong.

I have made so many friends and contacts in this thread its crazy. I know there are a bunch I talk to off the forums and cannot wait to meet some of you in person as we meet up to Beam or even grab some drinks and gawk over the Nexus. I'm sure at some point people got sick of my posts, but I hope that I was able to help some of you as well as provide information from over at XDA (another forum I frequent) as some awesome development goes on over there.

I really, really enjoyed spending this time and these posts (90k) with you and it was an honor to post alongside some of the forum legends here. It was an awesome ride and I would do it again with every single one of you. There are way too many people to thank so I just want to send out a HUGE thank you to everyone in this thread.

See you all in the watering hole. Until next time, I leave you with this.

Some say he's had a Galaxy Nexus since Novemeber 17th, and others say he uses an iPhone. All we know is, he's called The Stig.
 
GOT IT!! Nexus 2 of 40 at my joint. It's activated and downloading the update right now! Thing is sick, huge but still very pocketable and feels great. Thanks everyone for the experience, I hope I never go through another one of these again lol.

It has been great everyone! Thanks for this thread Steven, mods... I have enjoyed being here and following this thread. There was some drama this morning and I almost didn't get my Nexus (BJ's sold out before they even opened, but went to a another corp store), but I have it now and it's awesome, the wait was worth it. Will miss many of you from this thread, even though I hadn't posted much, I followed religiously...

Update: I got the GNex for $199 from VZW after being told by a supervisor "it wouldn't happen". I also got free overnight shipping (instead of 2-day).

Within 2 minutes of dialing the number and not saying a thing other than I knew there was a $100 regional discount, the CSR applied a $100 credit to my bill (not a discount for the device price). She also changed the shipping to overnight and credited my bill for the $12.95 difference.

She has worked there for 10 years and after a little investigation determined why I had been denied the NE2 discount(s). Apparently when I moved to FL from TN, the CSR created a new account instead of a simple transfer. In the process he changed me from a 2-year contract to a 1-year which eliminated the discounts.

The CSR I spoke with this morning was more than dismayed at the actions of the perpetrator of the switch and stated that it was not unusual for some CSR's to do that for the new contract commission they used to get.

In any case, my faith in humanity and particularly this CSR, has been restored. VZW, on the other hand, has a L-O-N-G way to go before the same can be said (2 years to be exact).

If you want/need to speak to a CSR that knows the system, pulls no punches, understands what customer care is really about and still can get you what you want with 'good business' underlying the rationale, PM me. I have her direct # and would be more than happy to share it with anyone else that is in need of a very helpful hand.

Just got back with my baby....SWEET phone! I didn't get the $100 3g to 4g promo...but will be talking to VZW about that.

Anyway, when I was picking up my phone, the manager advised that as of 5pm yesterday, they were still talking about possibly moving the release to January!!! Thank goodness VZW made the right call to release this beast!

Doing my update...I think it's important to do that right away.

I hope everyone enjoys their Nexus today!!!

p.s. the boot animation is awesome! LOL
 
Well, it's been a long hard journey. I know I had to do plenty of drinking to get through these times (alright, maybe I just do that anyway :rolleyes:).
