Siri alone is making me want to buy the iPhone 4s...which I know is a stupid reason, but it is just so dang cool!!! I need to hear the announcement so I can appease my appetite for new technology!

Siri is just software. I'm sure Google and other app developers have taken notice and will improve the Android voice interface and even innovate beyond what Siri is capable of.

My friend got at iPhone 4S and was showing off Siri and to me it seemed a bit glitchy at times.

I understand that many people have problems with the TB, but sometimes it makes me feel like I am the only one who loves this phone.

People who love their TB, who have had no more than the normal problems all cell phones face, we need to speak up.

I think my TB is in every way better than the DINC. I could do with it being thinner, but I also accept that many factors including the first gen LTE radio prevented that. That is my only complaint. Oh, and the fact that we do not have a mainline CM distribution. But that is hardly HTC or Verizon's fault. It is hardly a fault to begin with.

My main reasons for going to the prime are the continual need to upgrade, ICS, and the hardware jump. When I got the TB I knew it was a filler, the 2nd gen snapdragon was not too spectacular though it was a generational improvement. But I think even if this comes with OMAP 4430 (and that is not a debate I am starting, just a statement :) ) the fact that the OMAP 4xxx is the reference platform for ICS means that it will be an improvement.

I feel identical to you. I really like my thunderbolt. I came from the incredible, I was forced due to a trip through the washing machine rendering it less than capable (still worked, marginally, though). But the GNex is what I had my eye on the entire time.

So today is the day. I know the chat is up and running, but for those of us who are working and can't use IRC, we should be able to run it up past 11k easily today. And don't forget to pick up your ice cream sandwiches to celebrate tonight.

Making backups: When I had my Droid X with a SD card, I used My Backup PRo and it saved my butt a few times. If the Nexus doesn't have a SD card, I guess I could use the online server option from MyBack Pro.... Any suggestions?

There is still going to be a dedicated partition on the phone that will not be affected by a wipe/hard reset. If you can get the phone into any kind of working order, you can copy your data off the partition. That means if the phone is anything short of a cold, hard, brick - your data is safe and obtainable. Thus, you can continue using your MyBackup Pro app to back it up to your "SD card" (in this case, not a separate card).

It is, admittedly, not as obtainable as popping out an SD card. With SD card-based phones, you have the option of not fixing your phone at all. Here, you have to (or Verizon has to) fix your phone before you can copy the data.

15 hours and counting!!! Going to be a long day. Guess I must search out that IRC chat... newbie to that... if you see me congratulate me!

I think there is a huge point people are missing, the lack of an SD card doesn't mean no internal storage. All you need to do is plug your old phone into a computer/laptop and transfer your stuff there. When you get your new phone plug it in and transfer it to the new phone's internal storage.

Its not like the Galaxy Nexus won't have any storage for you to use and I think people are totally skipping over this step with the whole Google Music / cloud storage thing.

Yeah, all rumors point to 32GB of onboard storage, with most likely some of it partitioned to act JUST LIKE an SD card, except that it is not removable. I personally don't use the cloud storage thing yet, but mainly because my data connection at work when I would use it is awful. But conveniently I will be getting LTE coverage on 11/17, so its almost a sign that I am ready for a non-SD card phone.

Haven't seen this here yet: goo.gl/kYwaB

If those specs are true, the size will be quite a turn off for me. Compared to my SGS2, this will be huge - 136 x 68 x 8,8 vs 125 x 66 x 8,5. That 1,2 GHz cpu doesn't make me happy either.

That also mentions '11.5mm'. Looking at the hump, it might be measured at the thickest point. I sincerely hope it's not that fat!

The screen will look amazing but I need to resist buying this phone, I don't think the SGX540 even with increased clockspeed will be enough, nowhere near enough to compete with the new iPhone 4S, not even enough to compete with Mali 400MP.

Also the lack of sdcard slot and the 5MP camera is something I can't ignore, why is nobody else but apple using the faster GPU's from PowerVR? :(

Making backups: When I had my Droid X with a SD card, I used My Backup PRo and it saved my butt a few times. If the Nexus doesn't have a SD card, I guess I could use the online server option from MyBack Pro. If I have a catastrophe with the Nexus I guess I could do the following:

Hard Reset- gets the OS back, phone is like it was in the box.
GMail- when I log on to my Gmail account, I get my contacts and emails back.
Android Market- My purchased apps will come back. Not sure if I have to download them again, or if they flow automatically. I guess all the data with the apps is gone.

Is there anything out there that works as well as the sync feature of Itunes where you can just plug an Iphone in and it will backup everything and be available to restore, just as easily. If I have 25 GB of media on my Nexus it could be expensive to try and store it online. Any suggestions?

Ooh, good call! I hadn't thought of the "no SD card" as a problem before, but you make a good point. Restoring your device could be a big hassle should you need it. As much as I don't want an iPhone, I've always been jealous that they simply plug in and make a back up via iTunes.

If you root your phone you can make full back-ups (the process isn't quite as simple/automatic as plugging into iTunes), and I guess just store them on your PC instead of your non-existent SD card. Of course, this sort of requires that you "predict" your catastrophes and make a back up in advance....

That 11,5mm is the hump surely, same as with the SGS2, that part doesn't bother me, I like that thing. What bothers me is the 136mm height compared to the 125mm height of the SGS2. Even the Infuse is 132mm only.

Is it just me or does the side profile of this phone look funny (compared to the other renders we'd seen)? Kind of looks like the old iPhone teardrop shape instead of the sleek body + hump at both ends that the renders indicated.

Certainly doesn't match the teaser picture:
