***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Bezel is a bit thinner and slightly different shape at bottom than in the leaked vid/photo. Not sure why would someone put in the effort to fake something like this though ..

Specs released don't make sense. It would be crazy for them to go from 2/8 on the SGS2 back to 1.3/5. Something isn't adding up right.

I don't know guys. Maybe I am imagining it, but I can still see the outline of that bald guys dome and his specs in the screen. Zoom in and look. So it looks fake to me. A render. Not willing to bet that that is the real phone.....

I'm with you. Perhaps I am just wanting to see them, but I can see his glasses. However, I may just be going crazy with anticipation.

Does Japan have LTE? I know Korea does, not sure about Japan, though. Maybe they put the SD slot in the non-LTE version. Our LTE chip took up the SD slot space. Well, I'm looking on the bright side here: I'm not going manic again, not today! :)

Wow, did something happen this morning?? Why is this thread going to go negative??

Argh, going to read the pages I missed. Be back shortly.

After seeing the images of this phone, I'm a bit disappointed, but it has also allowed me to realize something -- this phone isn't for the masses, it's not even for the geeks, it's for the devs, who contrary to popular belief don't need the absolute best hardware out there.

Follow me on this:

Apple, for all it's bravado and arrogance, has done a good job (not perfect, screen size for example) of figuring out what the masses (consumers primarily) want in terms of hardware. Primarily a thin device, with a great camera, and high resolution screen, with great battery life, and very good/solid build quality. The iphone, no matter how much you hate it, delivers on that.

The nexi, IMO, were never meant to be sold to the masses, as evidenced by a lack of marketing, and a lack of availability on all US carriers. The Nexus 1 was at the forefront of design and specs, but the Nexus S was really just a rebranded GS. So while we are all looking at the Galaxy Nexus Prime as the end all be all premier device in the Android world, it is very possible that Google sees it as just another good device which sets the starting point for where ICS devices should be. This could explain why the camera is only 5MP, because devs don't care about that much, and why the processor isn't a 1.5 but 1.2 instead. The screen is high res because it needs to be as that's what Google wants all future ICS devices to have. If this device is truly that large, I unfortunately don't see it selling that well, and I see quite a few of us being disappointed. I also think that the DOCOMO leak will be correct on specs and will be primarily the same as the Verizon device -- Occam's razor.

Just my thoughts and a bit of different perspective.

ok...first of all i'm glad i have work to do today at my desk, all this cell phone rodeo stuff is starting to get on my nerves.

secondly the pics in that "leaked" hong kong magazine are horrible in my opinion. I'm not sure if its a bad angle on the image to the right but it makes the phone look huge imo

thirdly i don't have a good feeling about the news we're going to get tonight concerning G-Nex/VZW/Availability i'm actually kind of turning my attention to the RAZr for a little bit today because i am curious what will come out of that.

have a good day dudes and lady dudes

Gonna have to say its definitely legit. Don't see anyone going out of their way to try render something like this. Also the icons are correct as gmail and google+ apps in Japan do have the English labels while maps and market are labeled with katakana.

Seems a given that VZW will not be announced for the event, especially since VZW are with Motorola today.
The event in Korea is probably 80% ICS and 20% Nexus specifics. People here assuming otherwise?

Added:

BTW, if they are offering both a 16gb and 32gb, VZW has so far always picked the lower option.

Let us see how perception changes about no sd slot if the 16gb is released by VZW.

It's definitely a render or another phone than what the bald guy had. Compare where the screen and curve of casing meet lower right side corner. Also bezel is thinner around the screen.

Uh oh. This doesn't look very promising, does it.

I can handle every spec in this except for the 1750mAh battery. That is going to majorly SUCK if true. 720p resolution and LTE? Unless ICS is a freaking miracle worker (and no software is), we're going to get like 3 hours out of this thing. :(

I know BMX and the Love Tunnel have said 6 hours, but who knows which phone they were handling. They probably had prototypes that didn't make it to the final design. Do we know WHEN all these testers and their leaks actually had the phone? If last month, fine. But if they had it back in March or something. . .

No need to welcome me. Been lurking since this thread started to blow up and I know the love exists. So I'm about to stir the pot...

All of these specs, from the people who've leaked info to the Japanese poster, are all based on some early prototypes that were built to gauge ergonomics, battery performance, etc... The only reason Google let these things out to be played with is because they knew that the specs were changing. Why would they let loose lipped Verizon have access when they're trying to run a tight ship and build suspense?

When the OMAP 4460 looked like it was going to be held up (long before announcement regarding Archos), Samsung pleaded with Google for permission to use Exynos 4210. So that's what we're getting.

I know this dead horse was beat a while back, but the argument that this isn't possible due to the limited amount of time to re-engineer is invalid. Like I said these devices that are being played with were EARLY prototypes.

Anyway... if I'm right some of you who read this will say, "How the heck did he know that!?"
If I'm wrong, I get thrown into the pile of all the other wrong rumors. It's big enough for me to not worry about being heckled. ;-)

Point is, we can all rejoice now. I saved the attitude of the thread for short period of time.

Looking forward to my Nexus rocking Exynos 4210 on Nov 3rd. :D
