You may be giving them more credit than they deserve. In my experience, at least with the VZW stores in my area, they wouldn't know Ice Cream Sandwich on the phone from a real Ice Cream Sandwich from the freezer section of the local grocery store.

I have met exactly 1 knowledgeable person in the 5 stores in my area. 1! The rest look at me and ask why I don't have a piece of fruit for my phone. I tell them fruit gets rotten. ;)

Morning. All caught up. What I understand from last night's banter is:

1. The screen is too big
2. The screen is took blurry for those times you use a magnifying glass.

Steven shakes his head. ;)

What's that? I can't hear you, I was too busy turning the volume up while sitting two feet from my 72" LCD. ;)

Perhaps they should give out real Ice Cream Sandwiches at release day on the Verizon store to promote the new OS.

Last night I was wandering through a local mall when I happened upon a BestBuy Mobile store. Seeing several phones on display I dragged my lovely and talented wife into the store to check them out. Because she's fond of me, she protested very little.

I focused on the Samsung phones for obvious reasons. Their screens certainly have extremely saturated colors. With TouchWiz, they look too cartoonish though. I was duped by one which had the crappy sticker on instead of a working display, so close were the Wiz phones to cartoons.

I care not, for I am interested in a Galaxy Nexus which has no such abomination!

I then sauntered over the a Nexus S to see what the big fuss with the curved screen was all about. I had to peer down it's long axis to even see the curve. If the GNex has a similar curve, it's a non-issue, non-feature. I couldn't see the point.

The poor automaton working there greeted me at this point and asked if I needed help. Remembering chicks dig tech nerds, I turned to her and said something designed to impress:

"I'm just checking out the Samsung phones because I'm considering a Galaxy Nexus!"

Her stunned silence and vacant stare could only have been caused by one of three possibilities:

  1. She was enamored with my long locks and was rendered speechless.
  2. She was overwhelmed by my technical foresight and yearned for me so deeply she was struck dumb.
  3. She hated her job, was sick of geeks and felt slightly nauseous.

My wife felt it was #3 but I know better!

Or like most reps she had no idea what you were talking about because it wasn't printed on a memo, card or computer screen.

Just emailed a supplier in the UK to check on their expected stock levels for the GNex, what do you reckon, shall I place an order?

Hi Charlie I can confirm that we have 21 units left from our first batch that are due. If you place an order now you will be in the 1st batch dispatched. Kind Regards Li***

So, what's the verdict Steven. Nexus or Razr for you? :D

I'm still torn, myself.

A little? I've pushed past impatient. I need this phone in my hands in order to return to any semblance of productivity at work. It seems like it's been a YEAR since the unveiling, and it was only NINE DAYS ago. Enough already! I can't take it anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Heh! Chief? After the Galaxy Note presentation mention of the GN release are you gonna make it? Nov 24th?
Nov 17th across Europe and across the globe shortly there after? Shortly?

Mercy! Perhaps we can look at it as they are the beta test guinea pigs? Mm? No?

And he was specific in the thickness being in relation to the HSPA+ version.

C'mon larger battery and better radio!

Haha. I have a very boring job right now, so a little forum addition helps pass the time for me! I don't know what I'll do when I have the Gnex in hand -- wait, I'll just play with that instead! :D

9 Days? The 17th in the UK and across the globe shortly there after?

All I can hope is he is playing on words in meaning the HSPA+ version and the Verizon CDMA is a different release? Argh!

If i buy now, I definitely prefer the g-nex. Motorola promised to give out the encryption keys to my dx and didn't follow through. So, I vowed never to own a phone that limited my freedom to modify it. Moto has encrypted its razr for Verizon, so it's a clear choice for me. I'd get the g-nex.

The Razr is a bit to " yesterday" for me because it has the dedicated menu keys. I need the absolute latest and greatest, so if i upgrade now, it will be to the g- nexus. Period. :)

Nine days...well nine and a half...since it was unveiled. Not nine days til the release. And that nine days has seemed like an eternity.

I'm highly debating trying a new stance on this whole GNex wait. Pretend like it doesn't exist, save my F5 key the wear'n'tear, quit searching "Galaxy Nexus" in google for new results. This wait is killing me and the official announcement was only last Tuesday!

Then whenever I do find out, it'll be such a pleasant surprise!! "Wow! what's this? A Galaxy Nexus? Never heard of it. Best phone ever you say?"....

Yep, I'm going to try my hand at this approach...

If I do decide to get this phone - and the more I participate in this monster thread, the more my mind is made up - it's going to be tough to decide whether to preorder it and wait a few days, or walk into the store for instant gratification. I'm leaning towards the preorder, because the FM's at my Verizon have proven to be clueless time after time. I don't go to the store unless I absolutely have no choice.

Good morning G'nexers.

Not sure if this quote was posted before, but it just worries me a little bit.

"Reports from a Samsung event in London and a product page on Amazon.co.uk indicate that November 17 is the date the Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be released, first in Europe and rolling out to the rest of the world shortly thereafter."

My poor, senile but Beloved Droid is hanging in there. She really is a trooper.

I think we're all hoping for the 17th. But if it's the 24th... well, that's only another week. We can hang.

Very much doubt that it'll be the 24th. That's THANKSGIVING DAY and people are not going to go out and buy a phone that day (except maybe us :D ). Next day is Black Friday and everyone will be at Walmart and Best Buy from 4AM on. After Black Friday? Everyone will be too broke to buy a phone! Verizon would be crazy to wait that long... they'll lose way too many sales.

If there's a drop-dead date for release, on a Thursday, the 17th it is. No later than. Verizon undoubtedly knows this.

I think the point was more simple than that. Even taking away the name of the OS they would simply go with 4.0 being newer (therefore better) than 2.3.

3.7 to 4.65 *is* quite the jump. Just thinking about it makes me worry a little. I have small hands :S

I have to agree. The only thing about this phone that bothers me is the size. Going from a TP2 to the GNex might be difficult. Am I going to need two hands to hold the thing?

I honestly don't think they even know what operating system is in what phone.

I want you to know that I was thoroughly entertained by your story! :D
