***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Moto have better done their homework or that sealed battery will be a huge fail.

Certain people have certain issues with each phone and some of those issues are deal breakers. I was recently on the fence and something happened this weekend that sealed the deal for me...or at least helped confirm a suspicion.

I was on this thread late Friday night flying to Vegas using WiFi and talking about hating flying (some of you might recall)...while there my TB was my main source for photo taking and keeping in touch with the world while I was away. Monday, the wife and I took a day trip away from Vegas to the Grand Canyon. LONG story short...I took so many pictures that of course I needed to change batteries. Sure, some can say "well what if the RAZR's battery can last..." Listen, the way I was using my phone there was NO WAY any single battery could handle that. And to boot, one of the times I put my phone back in my pocket the camera was still on, so that took some juice too. My point is EVEN if I'm the cause of battery drain, even if I'm the error, I can always pop in one of the two spare batteries I brought and all is well. I can't imagine being there and not having the beautiful shots I took to take home with me. For this reason alone, I can't get a non-removable battery phone. That's my deal-breaker.

I agree that is the case for some, but there are a variety of battery packs that you can charge the phone with when not being near an outlet. For me the razr would have to easily last a day with heavy use and still have some juice left for me to consider it with the non-removable battery, but that is just me.

Totally fair enough. And believe me, with the way the RAZR is built (or at least with how tough it sounds like it is built) I would love for it to have a battery that blows our notions of LTE battery life away. Time will tell. If it does have this amazing power, then it is going to be one hell of a phone. And don't get me wrong, ICS is really cool, but getting it at a time (let's say a couple of months from now on the RAZR) when you are maybe getting a bit bored of your new phone is not a bad thing. I think people will be very happy with the RAZR. Me personally, I just can't get passed the battery. But, I'm going to be honest...I didn't know there were a variety of battery packs that can charge your phone when you can't get to a charger, so perhaps I need to keep an open mind. I just can't spend that kind of money for an item that I want to play with all day and not be able to play with it when I want to because I'm tethered to the wall...or car.

Moto does make some good cell phones. I even had the Moto Q at one time and that was a great phone. But Moto really droped the ball in 2011 and from what I have read and seen I would be afraid to take the plunge for a Moto device. I truly feel sorry for the peeps that got railroaded on the Bionic.

Samsung has stepped up this year with their devices and I hope this will shine in the Galaxy Nexus.

Now Verizon, well what choice do you have. <<<<<<:mad::p:eek:

I agree you should not have to spend even more money just to make the phone last. Will be interesting to see what moto did and if it worked for battery life. I mean who cares how thin the phone is if it has crap battery life. I would take a phone that is a little thicker and has the option to add a different battery than one that I cannot.

This is going to be a stupid question, but what the hay...
After reading your reply to me I searched for said chargers (I think they are calling them emergency chargers) and I found a Moto one. It plugs into your usb and can give you up to 2 life cycles worth of juice before the charger itself needs to be recharged. Okay, now for the dumb question...you have to keep that emergency charger plugged into your phone in order to receive it's juice, right? It isn't like you plug it in and within a very short while (ten minutes) it boosts your phone back up, right? {waiting to be slammed} HAHA. Thanks and sorry for stupidity.

Is this thread gonna end when someone finally receives the phone. Meaning, whoever sends in a pic with them and their shiny new toy is the winner and gets to end this monster thread with a pic of their ugly mug. Kidding-Im sure everyone in here is beautiful. If thats the case all of u can have the 18, 19 and 20,000 milestones, my mug will be the last thing you see! :p

The charger is going to charge the battery of your phone. So you have to leave it plugged in until the battery is charged - how long that takes will depend on how much you're using the phone while it's charging, and how many amps the charger outputs.

edit: it's really no different from charging it any other time - if you plug it into the computer, it charges slowly. If you plug it into the wall charger, it goes faster. If you're using it to stream video while charging, it charges slowly... etc.

Haha, that would be awesome (for me to be last that is ;)). Yeah I think Steven and Early have stated that once the first people have their phone, this thread is locked. They mentioned they might go through it for the really valuable stuff and move it to other threads, but I think for their sake, if you post something in here that would be valuable even after the phone is released, go ahead and post it in its own thread (or a relevant pre-existing one) to save the Mods the trouble. And I know my mug is ugly... so no offense taken, yall can make fun of me all you want when I am the last post, haha.

Growing up in Florida, I have a set-up that can be used during hurricane season. It is actually a battery charger (for rechargeable AAs) in normal use, but it has an USB port on it that will discharge the batteries in it, if the power goes out, I can just keep throwing non-rechargeable AAs in there and charge up my phone, until I run out of batteries.

Oh yeah, what makes you so confident you're going to get it first, hmm? Do you know something we don't know, or did you order a European one? ;)

I think the thread should end once we've got a confirmed owner of each version, GSM/HSPA+ and CDMA/LTE. :D

I will bum-rush Fed Ex as soon as the doors open to get the phone so I can be first(or in this case last to post). And no I definitely dont know anything. And Im on Verizon so no I didnt order Euro.

I felt like I just got prosecuted on the stand by Hans. (Han) :D
The day it ends will truly be a great day. Not great in the aspect of this thread being cut off but we will all have Christmas early. New toy, new toy, new toy!

If they do it like the DInc thread then it will stay open until multiple people have the device. (or our mods can change the name of the thread and it stays open until most people have it within a reasonable time)

While this thread is fun, and I have enjoyed the camaraderie, I think we all can agree, the first impression thread will be much more enjoyable, since we will have our phones in our hands when that one is going.

Add to that Moto camera vs. Nexus camera and I think this is my deal-breaker too. Nexus wins.
