I really hope this isnt real.

Yeah, me too. It's odd how much praise it is getting, but I really don't see what's so exciting about ICS if that's it. The task switcher looks like Honeycomb, OK. Separate apps and widgets. And .. what else? Hopefully there is more to ICS than this. Or better yet, hopefully it's fake ..
I'm not really sure what you guys expected, but this is exactly what I envisioned. I always pictured Honeycomb on a phone.

I think the biggest impact of ICS is that (hopefully) devs will finally start making one app to function differently on a tablet and a phone. Start using those fragments Google is talking about. I think that will create some better app functionality for us.

Clearly there is more behind ICS than that 2 minute video showed us. I'm still really keeping my hopes up for BlindType! I think that will revolutionize on-screen typing.

we can only hope.

I'm running around with a $20 phone in my pocket which it takes me 10 minutes to get to look at my email with a 1x1 screen, hows that for trying to put off on a new phone :( each device is always 2 weeks away from one another I'm getting desperate and something needs to give

I see the Skin as a 2015 launch. NOT a 2012. Where's the battery??? Transparent batteries are not up to scale yet. I don't think...

I don't think the renderings on the website are what it's going to look like at all. They say that it will be as thick and wide as an SGSII at 221mm x 67mm x 8 mm(plenty of space for hardware and battery).

So, imagine an SGSII with a normal looking screen, except it folds out (probably towards "east, west, and north", to make the screen double the size, which would be tablet size. Like a satellite unfurling its wings.

That would be sweet indeed.

I honestly don't think I'll want anything for a while after I get the Prime, but if this baby comes out any time before my next upgrade, I'm snatching it up regardless of price, I think. It would be awesome!

Edit: Here's a link to video of the display's capabilities. Wow.

Edit 2: Looks like you're right, Chief. Sorry for jumping the gun.

Still, hopefully this is available when my next upgrade is up!

I think all carriers are getting this with Verizon getting it first. Which is why they didn't get the GS2. I have no idea when the other carriers are getting the Nexus. I have a feeling its going to be early 2012. By then GS3 announcement will be around the corner.

thats incredible. I would totally start saying 'welcome to the future' if i had a screen like that.

BGR is still sticking to their sources info with the Nexus being announced at "Google Episode" and more importantly it being 4G LTE.

The insanity of it all :) I have bouts of excitement with flashes of despair topped off with unknowing

I'm just going to remain somewhat optimistic and really not expect anything coming out of Verizon. If it's not the "real" Nexus for us perhaps it will be something similar. I'll sit with that these next couple weeks....

I just have to share that we cannot believe how insistent you guys are on being pessimistic.

You have the pieces of puzzle set out before you, and you guys still refuse to simply look at it for what it is.

Trust me, you guys will be very happy!

I hope you're right

I'm sure some of the pessimism is from Big Reds past strategy regarding Bloatware and Locked boot loaders and not allowing android updates to come directly from Google, so some of this is expected and in fact Verizon's own fault.

BUT I believe that anyone can change and for what ever reason...$$$....I believe that Verizon will change their stance on all of these issues for this Pure Nexus release. I may be proven wrong and if this is not the holly grail of phones on Verizon then so be it.

I am with you in that there has been enough info put out there and all the signs indicate that Oct. 11th some of our questions will be answered about the phone and Android...the only piece of the puzzle that will need to be addressed is what side of the game Verizon is going to play on this time!

The poem that was tossed around last night seemed to be more related to the Verizon aspects and their new Nexus strategy than the phone itself, and that was good news if you choose to believe the info that was suggested.

You have to understand why we are so pessimistic. You guys have been screwing us for 2 years on Android handsets. It's pretty hard to be optimistic when all you see is all the great handsets going to other carriers. We have come to expect to be screwed over which in and of itself is pretty bad when you think about it.

With that said lets also assume you really are a VZW employee your words indicate we are in fact getting the real deal and to that I say "you are correct we will be VERY happy"

On the FCC thing, is it possible that Samsung and/or Google would hold off on it until next week? That way, they get to release just enough to get some people to hold off on the Iphone. Like, they conveniently get it through the FCC right as Apple announces their thing?

Probably not. Whether iPhone gets announced Oct. 4 or not doesn't matter, because it's scheduled to be released mid October. By the time it's released, we'll know when Prime is coming, and so will everyone else. Then it will be up to them to decide whether to wait or get the other.

That would be great strategy to steal some of the thunder away from Apple...so maybe have an FCC release between Oct. 3rd and Oct. 6th!

So your saying the iPhone is scheduled to be released mid October? Then if the FCC thing is such a big deal and takes 30 days from FCC to release then logic would indicate that the iPhone has already passed the FCC?

Is there some info indicating this?

If you know the score behind the scenes I can understand that response. However, many of us who have been with VZW for the long haul are at a point of "pics or it ain't happening" for reasons already stated. Anyone can post words on the net about a release but many, myself included won't be appeased until we have enough hard evidence to rule out fail. Yes it's pessimistic, I admit that outright, but there's a chain of events that have led some of us to that end. FWIW, I DO believe you are legit which does slightly increase my level of optimism.

Of course everything is rumor until Oct. 4. But the feeling around the tech sites is that it will release October 14.

Apple Confirms IPhone 5 Event on October 4 - Forbes

AT&T and Apple have both blocked customers from taking vacation during the first two weeks of October. So it seems logical.

I'm not sure what the FCC pattern for Apple is. For most of Verizon's handsets, it's usually right around 30 days. Although the iPhone 4 was less than that.

I agree with this 100%.

VZ_wired, I do believe you're legit, too, if only because you haven't been exactly a glory-seeking troll. But you have to understand that Verizon has been behind the times on the tech department for a long time, and really, really pissed a lot of us off when it passed on the SGSII only to claim that the Charge was a similar experience.

We're all hopeful that you guys will release a vanilla ICS device with no bloatware and an unlocked bootloader, for $300 max, but we're not holding our breaths. You've got the best network, hands down, for probably the next 2 or 3 years, but when companies like Sprint and T-Mobile are getting better phones than we are, that network advantage is looking less and less preferable.

Most people are in the game for the brand name and do not know any better. There are a few people that are tech savvy and will get the best product. Apple will still sell a lot of units because of this factor.
For the Android market to gain more ground. There needs to be more advertising and word of mouth. Which is starting to work because of Samsung and Google. The Galaxy line of phones and pads have made the big different in this market.

Example; I am a Samsung fan and that will not change for some time.
So I will buy Samsung. Samsung makes the best tech devices in the market at this time. That is why Google choose Samsung for this launch.

Killjoy! :p

Here is a rumor that is a little off topic;
What is going to happen to Verizon when Google takes over T-Mobile..

That's not going to happen. If the government would ever allow one company to own the software source, phone manufacturing (Moto) and the carrier, Apple would have done it by now and Android wouldn't even exist. :p
