I can't understand how anyone can be disappointed if the new specs are correct. It's essentially what we've been hearing all along. As in the reason we were all drawn to this place to wait around and see if it was true. Did anyone here seriously think they'd pop out of a cake with a 12 Mp camera and quad core? What were some of you hoping for anyway!?!

Certain people still think megapixels matter. Newsflash, they don't.

A 5MP camera can produce a 2592x1944 image, and an 8.1"x6.1" printed photograph at 320dpi.

1.2Ghz OMAP4 and 1750mAh are slightly disappointing to me, but not too bad. My confidence in BGR's credibility got damaged when they claimed iPhone5 will be unveiled as Sprint exclusive just a day before Apple event. So this time, I hope they got that wrong.

I noticed, for some it would be still good if it had ICS despite the fact it is poor, old SGS i9000. And they just can't understand that is just another phone which is available for about 7 months, but.. It has ICS, don't you know!?

It doesn't matter if it costs 400 bucks, or just 299, it has ICS, and HD!!

I was speaking of the new, new rumors which are the ones that I tend to believe. The BGR rumors have been questioned by some:

What's better, specs or real world capability?

A dual core phone with a nice big HD screen running the Vanilla version of the latest OS is fantastic! Most apps aren't even optimized to run on dual cores. They certainly won't be optimized for quad-core processors, or whatever else you wanted.

My feeling is that ICS will be optimized to run on a dual-core device, which might result in much better battery life, multi-tasking, who knows what else.

These are exciting times, my Polish friend. Now, go eat a Polish hot dog and get back here with a smile on your face!

He kinda writes in a very sarcastic and coded manner. It would be wonderful if we could get a sure enough confirmation on the actual legit specs from someone who actually has been using the phone and knows for certain what the specs are. I highly doubt that BMX will ever give anything concrete. He frequently tests the latest phones, works for Google, and has multiple contacts within Verizon. If I was him, I wouldn't release a single thing. Who would want to risk that job? Not me.

Assumed, but not confirmed (or maybe it is? I forgot what the bluetooth and wifi certs said). My feeling is that initially, the CDMA will be for Verizon, and the GSM will be for Vodafone (Verizon's other half in Europe) and other carriers elsewhere in the world. Eventually the GSM will be released to other carriers in the U.S.

Verizon's (short-lived?) exclusivity, I believe, is only as it relates to the United States.

+1. BGR doesn't seem right, if it seems out of place it probably is. If we are right, I would have to hope everyone is "happy" except those hoping for what cannot be.

Not only that, but it's very hard for him to give concrete hardware specs even being in his position. Sometimes hardware is varied between testers. If the launch is in October, the specs are probably hashed out well, but if this is just an announcement with a delayed release, he may not even be testing with a 100% spec'd phone.

I don't blame Sprint one bit for throwing money at Apple to get the iPhone. Look at it from their perspective. They put most of their eggs in the Android basket with the Evo, and they are stuck in 3rd place. They took on some WP7 and some new Blackberry's, and they are still stuck in third place. Now, that third place is about to turn into last place if the AT&T-Mobile merger gets approved. The only way they can get close to Verizon and AT&T is to compete with them blow for blow, and the only way the gap can be closed is by offering the iPhone. People will buy it. Some people will leave Android to get it. Some people will switch carriers to get it with the unlimited data plan. Maybe 20billion is too much over the years, but they had to do something.

the processor speed is adequate for me. Look how long other nexus devices are still being used, look at how long the DX has lasted with it's processor and that is WITH the crippled bootloader

Battery...ehh this to me is kind of an unknown. The fact that no on knows how ICS affects battery life leaves this one in the air. As it stands i feel that the battery will be enough

seriously though, a lot of us are holding on to ancient phones (I'm still rocking an OG Droid1) until something comes out (on VZW) that is actually is worth paying money for. so, 1.5 ghz vs 1.2, no micro sd card slot, blah blah blah. this this is still CLEARLY what I (and a lot of others) have been waiting for (with the exception of the guys in the Vigor camp). i'm getting it (and so are all of you!)

I'm pleased with Lee Johnsons specs if they pan out. Dual Core @1.5GHZ w/ 1GIG of RAM Nexus. That will easily last me 2 years. Dev community will be all over this thing. This is my next phone if everything pans out on Tuesday.

Asymmetrical how? Dual-core Snapdragons have Scorpion cores that can be clocked independently, which is an advantage.

Or is it like w/the new 4+1 quadcore chips that actually have an extra hidden low-power fifth core that automatically swaps in when the chip has only a minimal load on one core?

Perhaps I did just eat myself, Jungle. Perhaps I did just eat myself.

But what I'm trying to say is that just because the specs on the Nexus will be on par with other phones (SGSII HD, Vigor, etc.) doesn't make it "non-special". There are much more things involved in a phone that make it special. ICS, Form factor (sexy),HD resolution on a Super AMOLED screen and, if it's a true Nexus device (which I believe it is), updates directly from Google and not Samsung or Moto (after they've put their crap skins on it first).

All of this points to a very special device. Whether it's a 1.2 GHz or a 1.5 GHz or a 5 GHz device, doesn't really matter at this point. If they tried releasing it with 512 MB in RAM and an 800 MHz processor with a crappy qHD screen then yes, I'd be pissed. But these specs are great and on par with what I've expected.

And yes, I'm entirely too self-confident. But that's neither here nor there. And I don't use a pop-gun. I'm currently using this:
