So now that Verizon is (pretty much) confirmed to get the PRIME (love that name), I'm worried because I'm on AT&T. I know we saw the FCC stuff with the AT&T radio but I'm just worried... Someone please convince me that I dont need to be! Do it now!

The leaker at the other Android forum also added this:

THANK YOU, android has needed this feature badly.

too true.. good night

edit: I think that I give out thanks too easily, everybody else here has more posts than likes and I have many more thanks than posts.

BTW what is the point of keeping track of how many times you have liked another post?

Ok. So i'm trying to catch up. I saw the list of info on ICS and the device in general. What's the verdict on the reliability? I don't feel like trying to sort through the posts on my phone. Can someone spoil the ending for me?

I am on att as well but I don't think we are getting subsidized version Thu year at least. I have an feeling the version that passed FCC was the gsm version for every country other than us. I could be wrong but not holding my breath on that

Why don't you just wait until Tuesday evening 7pm Pacific time and everyone will find out for sure, instead of all this speculation; that's one of the reasons I've tried to stay out of this thread.

Right... but wouldn't only American carriers go through the FCC? It is the Federal Communications Commission. Hmm, I dunno. All this going back between carriers it making me crazy, I guess we just need to wait. I would love to see a definitive answer as to "who gets it and when?" very soon hopefully (like Tues night). I just wish everyone could enjoy it at the same time. :D

Eh the speculation adds to the phone IMO. Its gotten a little addicting trying to find out about it. Kind of like the thrill of the hunt. But I feel like I know as much as I will before Tuesday.

I'm honestly more excited about the changes in ICS. Devices come and go, but Android will last. I hope they are taking steps to ensure it gets more appeal. And it sounds like they are. I like the idea of a touch sensitive bezel to bring up the software buttons.

I really don't think there is a point to keeping track of how many times you have thanked various posts other than it can be tracked so why not? It does provide an indication of a certain person being a very "thankful" person or not. If someone has 10,000 posts and has only thanked 10 posts...maybe that shows people that it was a REALLY helpful post if they thanked it.

The real thing that matters is how many times your post have been thanked. Clicking on the
post_thanks.gif
button just tells the poster that you appreciated his/her post. It's nice to know that people appreciate what you are sharing and people that have a good ratio of thanked posts/total posts are probably people that you might want to take notice of because they are helpful in one way or another.

Something like that :). I personally use the thank button to show appreciation for information I didn't know previously or to express that I agree with what they had to say. Kind of like the "+1" feature but without having to make another post to simply say "I agree".

What UBRocked said, plus it's OK to thank for meritorious posts, where you may not agree, but appreciate the effort or thought put into furthering the discussion in a positive fashion.
Just wanted to add that it's always a good idea to thank a Mod. Think of it as a down payment on a forum indulgence, should you need one in the future. Quoting or otherwise flattering the Mod also helps. :cool:

Okay, one last tip then i'm going to try and steer this train back on track for the people waking up in a couple of hours :)

Thanking a Mod thousands of times won't help you if there is ever a "situation" you are involved in. What WILL help you is your post history and believe me...they will look at that. If you are generally a helpful member and respectful of others, that will go a long way to get some leniency. If you consistently talk down to people or are flat out disrespectful, may God have mercy on your soul! :D

Seriously, that thought process is part of the reason that this is the best Android forum! This is a friendly and helpful forum and that's not gonna change anytime soon.

~~~~~ Back on track ~~~~~
I have a question that I can't answer myself. I have a Honeycomb tablet so I am very familiar with the benefits of on-screen buttons vs. physical or capacitive buttons. Plain and simple, you want them to change to where your hands are (portrait or landscape orientation). Does anyone see a benefit to these keys on a phone or do you just think phones will go to on-screen buttons because tablets will be running the same OS?
I mean if we have a touch sensitive area below the screen, why wouldn't the capacitive buttons still remain. Just seems redundant but I am thinking this is to ensure 1 OS for both tablets and phones.
Thoughts?
The latest youtube video got me thinking. You know I think the only thing that would make this phone better would be a white version of this phone. Make that possible Google.
Or make it black on the back and front with a white band in the middle/white trim around the edge. :p
Special thanks to Connormoore 725! I don't have to use Viagra tonight! I don't see any feature or lack thereof, that would prevent me from buying this gem. So it is plastic, but the OP says that it has a much better feel. The screen is so big on the front that the back probably has to be transparent electronically for the various antennas. Pentile, but it looks as good as retina. My only question now is what time to get to the Verizon store on the day of the release.
Hi, I'm a new poster who has been following this thread like a hawk. My OG Droid is very afraid.
Anyway, to go on about the docking port speculation that I have not caught here is the idea that it may have something to do with Android Open Accessory that was announced at IO this year: developer.android.com/guide/topics/usb/adk.html
Think of it as "Made for iPod" meets makezine.com for Android, i.e. some sensors and external hardware that can communicate with the phone (based on the open source Arduino controllers). FM transmitters, heart rate monitors, bike computers, etc.
It was supposed to connect via USB (and later Bluetooth), but perhaps a new connector was necessary (for more advanced functions?). I'd hate to see a special docking port with no vision forward.
I have no special knowledge whatsoever (just some embedded tech experience), but seeing as this was talked up and sort of forgotten about, with which product do you think it'd come to fruition for? ;)
There was also their Android@Home home automation at IO, which talked about using embedded RFID tags. NFC is designed to be compatible with certain RFID standards.
Tuesday should be fun.
Getting ready to download some of my old friends from Droid X days: When I get the Nexus I need to download these, plus more I can't think of:
1. Real Signal- shows db strength
2. Better Cut- Easy way to put widgets on home screen
3. MyBackup Pro- Not sure if this works,on the Nexus with no SD card, since it used to make copies of everything, including the OS, onto the SD card of the Droid.
4. Keep Screen- keeps the screen on while you are in an app, bypassing the auto screen off settings.
5. Notification program- kind of forget what it was, but it allowed me to color code the led for email or text etc.
6. MixZing- pretty good player
7. Google Voice Actions
plus the usual suspects, Rhapsody, Pandora, Skype.
Will I miss my IP4?
What to expect on Wednesday(Tuesday night for US). We will get pretty much all the specs on the phone, including the exact processor and release dates. We'll have good youtube type video of the phone and some limited ICS demos. Probably the only thing we won't get is the call quality info. It will be a zoo. I hope Samsung has enough product to let honored guests play with it and report.
If the reported approx 1900maH isn't enough, trust me, Seidio and others will have an extended battery out, probably before Samsung, although I wouldn't be surprised if an extended battery is listed as an accessory.
