***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Thanks Jasaero for even reading my post. I have seen your name over at the HOFO and kbman and Sussuro always have good info. I hope there is nothing wrong with the Nexus as I'm very much looking forward to a PURE Google phone on Verizon. Hopefully we will know something tomorrow night.................

I really would like to hear all the detail behind the scenes on all of this. Wouldn't be surprised if VZW had hoped for a Droid Prime follow up to the Charge with exclusive on Vanilla ICS and all in the mold of OG Droid, but somehow got all the deals cut without actual agreements about device naming, marketing angle, and such being part of the initial agreements. Then when Sammy/Google said this IS a Nexus and you are going to do nothing about it as that wasn't part of the original deal. Then things have deteriorated from there. I am sure they will still go through with it and we will be able to get our Galaxy Nexus, but at this point I am not expecting the Nexus BEFORE RAZR.

Don't expect a huge announcement and marketing push from Verizon, either. They're too far invested in RAZR to make Nexus a "flagship". WE have to do that by word of mouth.

Agreed. Ironically, so is Google, but this device launch is great PR for Google pointing out they are not giving pref treatment to Motorola.

The Razr will not change my purchase intent (regardless of NP release date):)

If its after 12/28 I get a NE2 discount as well:D So long as I know the NP is officially on the way... I'm good.

I'm with you. RAZR will be a cool phone, but unless it is announced as unlocked from DAY ONE, it's a 100% no go for me, unless there is no Nexus.

Unlocked is only part of the equation for me... I will not buy another android phone that is not Vanilla!!!!!! If a vanilla android phone does not come to VZW I will go to the carrier that offers it when my contract is up!!

Do we actually think they will announce that the phone is for Verizon tomorrow, or do we just think they will show off "the Nexus".

Both the Nex and Razr should be fine devices. Folks should be thankful to have strong options. Was not so, this time last year with VZW.

eyetek please don't misconstrue what I'm saying. I'm not trying to bring you or anyone down. I want this device just as bad as you do. I've waited close to a year for it. (no exaggeration)

There's just A LOT of hype going on right now and underneath it all there is a lot of missing pieces and things that don't quite add up. Again, I want this handset VERY badly but I'm having some serious questions about all this.

Step back and look at the whole picture without any emotional attachment and you will see that there really are some things of concern. It's not being negative.....it's just being cautious in the midst of a TON of hype.

sorry if I am coming off as negative it's sincerely not my intention. I'm just trying to open up dialogue with people to get some more input.

I fully understand your hesitation and uncertainty surrounding the Verizon announcement that they are going to carry the Nexus. I also have moments of second guessing if it will happen but I have been around long enough to know it really is out of my control and if it happens great....but if it doesn't then life will go on and I will find another device to meet my needs.

From the moment I began posting in this thread I have stated that there are reasons this release doesn't look like other phone releases in the past. Those reasons are still in play...Apple, Samsung and Google are still at war because Apple is loosing market share to Android and Samsung they are suing the hell out of Samsung because they feel the heat. Verizon has given up some of it control to Apple in the last year because they felt the pressure from the public to have the iPhone on their network. Well I believe they entered into an agreement with Google and Samsung to carry the Nexus device...they are one of the few carriers that have yet to carry the device and they have the network that Google and Samsung needed to show off their new flagship device...what other carrier has a 4G network capable of providing the stage they needed. Plus Verizon is pissed that Google and Samsung choose to schedule their Nexus / ICS event on their already scheduled announcement of the device that they are in control of...the Moto Razor. Moto is the company that Verizon is really in bed with...and this does not sit well with them but they have no power to control Google and Samsung in this situation.

All of these events create an environment that gives us the feeling that something is wrong or different, I agree things are different this time around...we have five large corporations all competing and all trying to gain an advantage in the market place. There are billions of dollars at stake and the game has changed, it will continue to be different going forward but that is part of corporate America.

I just refuse to allow these events and peoples negative or speculative moods to take me to a place I choose not to be a part of. It's a phone, there will be other phones running Android ICS and if this one comes to Verizon I will buy it day one, but if for some reason it falls through I will find another phone on Verizon that meets my needs and I will buy it and wait for the next holly grail to come around.

I have a 16 hour day at work tomorrow and I should be home right at the time the event begins and I will grab a beer and watch it and then go to bed and hopefully know my next phone. I also know that when I log on to this site there will be members that will be thrilled and members that will be pissed and screaming with disappointment but for all of us I hope this event will not be the end of the world.

Moto is the company that Verizon is really in bed with...and this does not sit well with them but they have no power to control Google and Samsung in this situation.

Let's not forget that Google is in the process of buying Moto. So Google has a ton of leverage if VZW wants to stay in bed with Moto!!

That will be one function to wake people up that a 2gb cap is ridiculous. One 90 minute movie and $30 of data gone. That is one expensive movie.

very, very true. im sure that in response, the carriers will just say that netflix needs to be run over wifi, or they may even make netflix a wifi only app, much like apple did facetime

Well he's not one to just spout off random things like that.

+1, definitely!

the thing that concerns me is that he says "the Prime is having some serious issues..." he doesn't say Samsung/Google/VZW is/are having the issues, he says the Prime. of course, he could just be typing in shorthand, but his statement signals to me some tech issues.

i think i'll just stay guardedly optimistic, but not get my hopes up too high. the RAZR continues to intrigue me, but i'm still gonna wait until both are out.

Do we actually think they will announce that the phone is for Verizon tomorrow, or do we just think they will show off "the Nexus".

There's no way they DON'T say which carrier(s) its going to. It affects too many people's decisions. It may not be a major focus of the event, but they won't get out of it without saying who it's going to.
