***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Point is the Razr will have to consume more power and produce more heat than would have with a 4460.

Are we sure the Nexus has no sd slot? Yeah, I know.

Do you know the voltages of the two processors running at 1.2 Ghz?

If they are running at the same voltage, then there shouldn't be any difference in power consumption.

The whole presentation wouldn't have to be rewritten; are you kidding me? If it was Verizon-centric, of course. But from the outset in the CTIA invites, it was always going to be about Samsung and Google, that's it. They didn't announce U.S. carriers for the Note event in Berlin, but AT&T is definitely getting it, and who knows who else. Samsung's Unpacked Events are about the product only, not about carriers.

Also, they said it was coming to the U.S. Who else do you see getting an LTE device from Google?

I know you refer to those who think it's coming to Verizon as "wishful thinkers", but I honestly feel that it takes more effort to conjure up these terrible thoughts of Verizon not getting it, than it takes to simply see with your eyes and know that Verizon's name has been all over this thing since Day 1 all the way up to the day it was announced.

Hans you're assuming they wouldn't be mentioning Verizon and I'm assuming they MAY have. I'm also assuming at the very least a brief mention "It will be available exclusively through Verizon Wireless in November (or whenever) and then to our other partners shortly after" You get the idea. Anyway we are both assuming and I'm sure you feel the same way as I do about assumptions :)

More importantly. From what i'm gathering from you is that because there has been rumors, pics, web pages etc etc with Verizon branding that the device is certainly coming? Is that a safe assumption? You think it has to release based on these things?

OMG I wish I could leave Verizon and follow this phone if they botch it!

But they are the only carrier with voice and data service in my area... the only carrier to speak of, anyway. Plus they know they have me over a barrel with my deeply discounted data plans.

You know, I really don't CARE if they make Sammy lock the bootloader. With ICS onboard, I doubt I'd be rooting the thing anyway. Plus, I'll probably only have it for a year at the most...

So go ahead, Verizon, do what you guys have to do... just release this phone!

For a long time the Mustang was built on the same platform as the lowly Fairmont and boaty Lincoln Continental(!), but it ended up as the best pony car of its day. :p

Yes, but neither of those look like mustangs. Now, if they had stopped making mustangs and a few years later made a continental with a few minor mods, but still looking the same, and called that a mustang? Then it would be similar. This device is completely unrelated to the razr line. Like I said, this is just a stupid marketing ploy.

Also, were a car company to take an existing model, add a carbon fiber trunk lid, and give it the same name as some older, more popular model, I would find that just as ******ed as moto's tactics.

If they are running at the same voltage, then there shouldn't be any difference in power consumption.

Power consumption also dictated by number of discrete junctions within the chip, efficiency per clock cycle, and layout efficiency for waste heat considerations.

Power = volts times amps.

I know.

My point was simply that deleting a mere mention of “Verizon is getting it” would not throw the entire presentation off. If Verizon had backed off suddenly, that wouldn’t be a reason big enough to cancel the event at CTIA, because other carriers are on board.

(FWIW, I think the event was cancelled because of glitches with ICS, as Steven’s Love Tunnel alluded to. The fact that build 4.0.1, used in the unveiling, was built only 5 days before the postponed event in Hong Kong lends credence to that.)

Yes, I’m assuming, as you are. And I’m not saying you’re an idiot for thinking the way you do. I’m just saying that the circumstantial evidence strongly points to Verizon getting this device in early November.

Take it like this: If your house got broken into and all your valuable stuff was stolen, and the police come along and find the fingerprints on the inside door handle of a guy who you’ve never seen before, don’t you think they’re going to track him down? And, given that you’ve never seen him before, yet his fresh fingerprints are all over your house, don’t you think that the police are going to find him hawking your stuff at the nearest pawn shop? You better believe it.

Well, Nexus has never seen Verizon in her house before. Yet Verizon’s fingerprints are all over her goods. What is a reasonable person to think?

(And it's Han, dammit! :p)

Me likes the RAZR. I think it's a huge improvement over the Bionic. Matter of fact I MAY just buy it if the Nexus falls through. I said may though...the bootloader is tearing my heart out. If the bootloader were unlocked I'd purchase it over the Nexus in a heartbeat.

Damn, why can't somebody make the perfect device. It's really not that hard is it? :)

If a company made the perfect device what would be the point of upgrading? I would assume it would be the same reason Apple did not include cameras in iPad1 and put them in iPad2 (along with the upgraded processor/gpu). All in the efforts of creating and maintaining profits, which I'm sure you are quite aware of as you seem to be quite the intelligent poster.

I just wish they would announce what providers this phone is going on so I can stop coming back to check this site every half hour or so (okay we know it is more like 10min) I know I am signed up on the Samsung and Nexus websites already to receive notification when the phone is available but people on here usually find out before they send out the email.

Take this or leave it - totally up to each of you - but as of right now, I'm PSYCHED!!!

I decided to call my VZW rep pal (same contact as from the Incredible days) and expressed a feigning, passing interest in the Nexus. We made some small talk about the specs and so on and after about 5-10 minutes, I decided to casually ask, "So when are ya getting this thing?"

With ZERO hesitation, he says, "Oh it's looking like next week or the first week of November, at the latest." That ONE sentence - with NO hesitation, mind you - instantly clarified that not only is the phone coming out very soon, but it is definitely coming to Verizon!!

We're getting this phone, everyone!!!!!!!!! :)

I digress...the SGSII was/is the "perfect" handset. But yes your point is taken....

I heard it's sitting in a brown box in his office:D

I believe it is coming to Verizon (part wishful thinking? sure). The only thing that threw me off a little was Google mentioning that Japanese carrier. Why? It would make sense if you were going to announce a few major carriers in each area but why only that one? Proximity? Hardly makes sense as this was a presentation that was meant for North America a week earlier. I don't know the reason but I believe the hard feelings had more to do with Google scheduling the event on the same day as the Razr.

Maybe they mentioned the Japanese carrier due to where the announcement was made?

Obviously there was a miss communication as I am pretty sure all VZW employees brains have been wiped of all memory of the Galaxy Nexus being intended for VZW from the beginning at this point! Surely he just assumed you meant the RAZR and replied under that assumption!

I get it now. Maybe VZW is getting the LTE version exclusive and the rest of the carriers will get the HSPA version. Wishful thinking?? ....maybe.....
