***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Panda said that Google will handle the updates to the GNex, directly; and that this was a "must have" term in the negotiations between Google and VZW.

this leads to my question (and i don't know the answer): would a locked BL prevent Google from issuing updates directly? in other words, if the BL was locked, would the updates HAVE to come from VZW? it seems to me that they are probably separate issues, but i just don't know...

given the system app list that was released a while back, there wasn't any vzw bloat on it. to me, that signals a pure Nexus device, with an unlocked BL.

Locked bl will not have any impact on Google pushing updates.

I'd much rather do it this way than have to hope that the delivery guy hasn't just left it on my stoop during the day.

But is anyone afraid of having the store employees play with it and then put it back in the box? I think I read somewhere a while back about a guy getting his Bionic and finding a picture of a Best Buy employee in it flipping off the camera.

Just by the length of time at a Verizon store it took for the guy to come out of the back with the device in an opened box had me raising an eyebrow years ago. I buy online now. I would feel better if he had opened it in front of me. Call me paranoid but I believe opening the box in my presence would have been a professional courtesy.

No. Please stop asking these questions. Nexus devices are not treated the same. Everyone please stop asking these questions. The thread is getting needlessly watered down.

lol. You're standing in a lake!

The only thing that isn't water around here is the Steven-updated OP. :D

Where did I miss this? And did it include a flashlight?

Actually its a great question I think. I want to see if Verizon will in fact allow a totally open handset on their network. This will be some good theatre no matter which way it turns out.

Was this the box from the SNL skit?

Well they also got Atrix 2 with OMAP4, non-pentile qHD LCD screen. And they will get HTC Holiday, similar to Rezound spec.

As for GPS issue in SGS2 you keep mentioning from your store experience, I'd say that one might be defective demo unit or some setting. SGS2 AT&T forum doesn't seem to be upset over GPS at all.

+1, I read some British reviews about how much better the GPS is on the GSII than the S. Some with video reviews demonstrating the improvement side by side.

Well here's MY 0.02:

SOMEONE at Verizon is going to make a commission on me. A big commission. My terms of that person earning it are:

1. Dig down deep in the stack and bring me a virgin, untouched Gnex that hasn't seen human hands since it left the factory.

2. Give the box to ME, unopened. I will open it, install the battery and give it first light (telescope term for all you astronomy geeks out there ;) ).

3. I will set it up and activate it. If I need help, I will ask.

And if they're unwilling to do that? I'll find another rep who wants to earn the commission. They don't have a "right" to a commission just because I showed up with money. They will sell me a phone... on MY terms.

It will probably be handled the same way as the iPhone. The boot loader will be locked but the updates will be issued by Google.

But you have to understand this is Verizon we are talking about and without a Nexus phone on Verizon previously these questions are going to pop up from not only me, but everyone reading the internet.

Verizon is the only carrier in the world to lock down the bootloader on the RAZR so sometimes I wonder what else they would do to their phones.

Your leaving yourself Wide Open with that one around here, heh!

Please stop asking me to stop asking questions,,,,,,, Oooooh Nooooo! Boo Hooo.

Speaking of the box. What will be in the box? Just a phone, battery, & charging ware? A Dock?

Where is Costco with the package deal eh?

I was going to give the sgs2 an 30 day trial and see how it is in real world. I really don't have any other real issues with my captivate, well other than Samsung's refusing to update it.
The one thing I was worried about was when att mentioned the rest of their android line up the holiday wasn't listed , so I wonder if its coming this year
