Well thinking of the GPS and Costco I may back up a tad and see if Costco will be getting it soon enough.
I rely on the Navigation app in my OG on a daily basis to earn my living so much so that any kind of inherent problem will be a deal breaker for me.
Costco will allow me to give it a longer trial and a better chance for an OTA fix.

In reading the British reviews on the GSII I seen they were getting firmware updates pretty quickly to deal with other things.

I will have to give it an test run it seems like if the gps is tremendously better. The gps on my captivate sometimes works sometimes doesn't, if the att version of gs2 gets gps working i guess its the only alternative for me, since no ics devices on the horizon. I really wanted to try and hold off upgrading phone till an ics device arrives
 
Locked bootloader means nothing encrpyted is what is to this day uncrackable. People need to learn the difference. Plus id take a locked bootloader with updates right from google anyday. It wont be encrypted so it will be easily crackable.

Just curious (not argumentative), but why?

I've always liked going to buy a phone and having it in my hands immediately, rather than ordering it and waiting a week for delivery. And it's not that I'm incapable of setting the phone up on my own (though, I've never done it myself - I'm assuming it comes with instructions) - It's always been a convenience thing with me. That being said, ever since I bought my OG Droid(which I'm still using and was set up by a VZW store employee but I've always been too lazy to do a hard reset to try to fix), I've had issues with the way my contacts sync and I'm thinking I might order my next phone and set it up on my own.

I am just curious do you think 3rd party retailers will be able to sell the phone also? usually you can save 50 bucks or so buying from 3rd party so was kind of curious

Because they are paranoid. Funny you dont know what haooens to your phone when its shipped to you or who touches it/ opens it up.

Build Quality (Kevlar, Gorilla Glass,Splash Guard, Stainless Steel Chassis), UI (Motocast, Smart Actions etc etc), Aesthetics (in my opinion one of the baddest looking pieces of tech to come along in a long time), I do like the non-removable battery and last but not least 4.0 (when it drops it will level the playing field).

I know it sounds crazy but i just cant stand the aesthetics of the Nexus and how darn cheap it looks (my opinion). It was literaly a deal breaker for me.

I use 2-step authentication for my google account, which requires a device specific password to be generated when signing into any Android device. I think it would be a hassle to have to pull all that up at a Verizon store (especially since the leaked MAPs suggest they still use internet explorer). I plan to buy the phone at a store, but set it up on my own for this reason.

oh, i'm sure there will be a flashlight app that will work with ICS - it's just not a pre-installed system app.
 
If they put it on pre-order, that's the route I will go. No stranger's grubby mitts all over the device, and hopefully will receive it a day or two before it's available in the stores.

I'm self employed so when it hits the door here at the shop... time to take a day off :)

If no pre-order, then I'll be knocking on the door when they open, advise them of how the transaction will go down, hand over some cash, collect an unopened box and be on my merry way!

I remember the OG DInc being sold out before I could get one. Not this time.

I'm hoping to preorder too. It would be nice to get it early... but even so, I have a long weekend November 10, 11, 12!
