My boss (female) came to me about a month ago b/c I'm the "tech guru" aka staff geek and asked me about upcoming smartphones. I did all the research for her. I gave her pricing plans across carriers. I showed her the iPhone 4S, Galaxy Nexus, Razr, Rezound, I told her about the Galaxy S II, etc. After all of my research for her, all of the articles I sent her, all of the advice I sent her after EVERYTHING I did for her, she walks into my room today smiling and said she bought her new phone this weekend. She was VERY excited about it. She was in Circuit City (I didn't even know those were around anymore) and picked up the Droid Incredible 2 and fell in love with it. She said the kicker was she got it for FREE!!! I told her that she should have gotten it for free, it's 7 months old. She said she loved the way it fit in her hand perfectly. Of course it was all that I could do to pretend to be happy for her. I helped her sync all of her accounts and set it up. She walked away happy as could be. She won't need a new phone again for another 2 years and she won't even know that she missed out on anything.

I think that is how it is with 98% of the population. They walk in, pick up a phone or two, play with it for a few minutes and choose; and they are happy. Genuinely happy with their phones.

It drives me nuts! ;)

So that leaked roadmap with the late November date is definitely fake considering the double data promo starts tomorrow and that schedule had it starting around Black Friday (I think -- it was hard to read as it is).

Verizon’s “Double Data” Promo Signs Arrive in Stores For Tomorrow’s Launch – Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

Interesting. How would a "fake leaker" even know abt the promo though? Have those rumors been circulating for a while?

Put in an order for SGSII from T-Mobile....says it's backordered till the 17th.

Ball's in your court Verizon/Samsung/Google....although either way, Samsung and Google are getting my bizness

My GF is the same way... She has an Inc right now and when the Inc2 came out she wished she had an upgrade to get it and I was telling her its not worth the upgrade but she dont care. Hopefully by the time she gets her upgrade (couple months) the Inc2 will be EOL and I can talk her into the Nexus so we can Beam each other ;)

I wish I was still that ignorant. I was happier then. :(

Why should we care though? If they're happy that's all that should matter. Not to mention that they might consider us diseased fools who refresh the internet multiple times an hour just at the glimpse of another rumored release date for a device that none of us have held or seen in person. Who seems more silly now?

Those were the days....I got my girlfriend a G1 and that set the ball rolling. By the time I got my Incredible I was obsessed.

At this point I am currently suffering from some sort of OCD relating to the GNex...

P3 just posted a picture of two SGNs side-by-side. He's just rubbing it in ;)

Edit: *shakes fist at Hans... again*

lol.

sorry, I'm not doing it on purpose. The boss isn't in the office today, so there's a lot of free time.

Maybe they're a Verizon employee trying to stir up something.

Here are more internal documents about the promo:

Verizon confirms Droid RAZR release date, improved tiered data plans | Android and Me

From my experience the common Verizon emploee wouldn't have access to this kind of info. If they did we would likely hear about it in advance. Again from the places I've worked the common employees usually only get training and become aware of this kind of stuff the day before or the day of.

Bottom line?: I'm trying to get to the bottom line.

I admit my experience isn't from cellular companies though....

Not sure about happier - more blissfully ignorant would be my preferred term.

(Foregoing all of the 34 comments that would get me censored. Sorry, slow day at work and this thread is not giving me anything about which to dance.)

Same here. I actually got most of my filing done :(

Hmmmm. Nope, not convinced it's us.

You know, after spending waaaay too much time lately on these forums and this thread, I keep forgetting that, to the average "Joe Schmoe" smartphone user, none of this is really a big deal.

When this thing finally does launch, we are collectively going to be Steve Martin and the Nexus is going to be.................. A PHONE BOOK. :p

When watching the clip, just replace "JOHNSON. NAVIN. R." with "SAMSUNG. GALAXY. NEXUS"...........

:D:D:D

The new phonebook's here! - YouTube
