***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

So how silly are we going to feel when this phone is released on Monday :D
I think we should do what others have done, not put 100% emphasis on one day but spread it out over all the rumors. At this point I go 80% for the 21st (with so many stores claiming to not have stock or demo models I'm betting Web only) and 20% on that we wont see anything till the 8th.

*We know Google expected it this month. Lots of stores are saying Monday (not clarifying if that's in store or online only but they are saying Monday. I don't think we would get this much chatter from sales people if it was just all the online rumors they were reading.)
*Someone made the point that the screenshot with 12/8 might be for the independent stores and not the corp stores. I could agree with that idea.
*Han can certainly talk more about a breach of contract than I can, being that he is a lawyer, but what I can tell you is that contracts WERE signed (to protect all parties) to get the deal on this phone. I don't have insider information to tell me such but I have a firm belief that this is how things work in the phone industry.
*Here is where I speculate: Samsung/Google was probably betting on strong Nov sales and if it is pushed back to Dec VZW would have to pay out for breach of contract. Now I was scratching my head trying to figure out how suits would justify B.O.C. over bugs in their two apps that can be easily disabled in 4.0 and could easily be updated thru the market. Now with BMX claiming that the phone doesnt have issues with the 2 bloatware apps and it is essentially ready to go I have to ask myself, and all of the readers, is it really worth selling a few more Rezounds/RAZRs and breach contract on the Nexus? [that is if my speculation that there would be a Nov clause in the contract.
*If my speculation is correct then they also knew when they signed the nexus contract many months ago they knew when the RAZR/Rezound would release. They knew they would have 3 superphones all at the same time. They didn't have a problem with that then or they would have forced google/samsung to agree to Dec.
*The delay has only caused more people to take notice of the nexus, more people than if they had just stuck to 'original schedules' and released all 3 roughly one week apart, but quietly launched the Nexus with little excitement.

Just my thoughts.

Got to leave in a few minutes but am sitting here reading all of this and wondering..............

IF the Galaxy Nexus only came in a 16gb version WITHOUT ICS, would it be enough of a phone for all of us to get this excited?

NOT going to be pure vanilla.................

After all, the ICS is at best a temporary exclusivity........in a month or 2 it really will not matter..............lots of phones will have it.

watching the Verge Podcast (refuse to call it the vergecast) and even those guys, who arent android fanboys like us, are stumped about whats going on..

Something is wrong with Verizon; they have the best Android phone in the world and they are pushing the Droid Razr.
-Joshua Topolsky

Both Josh and Nilay say that they are considering completely switching from AT&T and going to Verizon.

I mean these guys aren't just some random internet blog... they are some of the best and most respected tech journalists on the internet.

When I was at Verizon today I smiled to myself at how hard they were pushing the Razr. I didn't like it. It felt like I was holding a cardboard cutout.

Who's to say they are not already sitting in the backroom of every store?
If they were I expect there'd be leaks all over the interwebz to that effect. I have a feeling that we'll be among the first to know when boxes of GNexes start showing up at the stores.

Does anyone think we will see in this forum people posting that they are chasing down UPS/fed-ex delivery trucks to not miss their G-Nex delivery. Anyone remember these numerous posts with the DINC

We were already there - yesterday. Somebody was parked in front of a Verizon store when a Fed Ex truck pulled up. A few minuteds later a UPS truck pulled up.

I called around a bit today to see what local stores said. All of the corporate stores I called said they know nothing and tried to sell me a Razr. The one premium retailer I called said they were told the 28th. I want this phone as much as anyone but no one knows anything and there is no point getting excited about someones source telling us dates. No ones knows what the date is until we see a press release about it.

That was just a "rumor roundup" tweet. Not Kellex's opinion.

It's already been debunked by BMX.

Oh Ok! It's been debunked by the guy who said it was coming out on November 3rd. I feel a lot better now! =)

Sorry folks. Google.com/nexus is the only legit source we have, and it says it is 16gb. I say we all point our agravation at google and give verizon a rest for a little bit. They are just as bad for not having the balls to announce information either.

To be honest the only reason I want this phone is for the ICS. I really couldn't care less if it has 16 or 32gb. If it wasn't going to have ICS I would have a new phone by now.

When did BMX debunk it?

All he said was

"As for the storage question.. would vzw release a cheaper less mem model and still charge the same amount? Does that answer your question?"

The way we saw Verizon handle this launch. I think that answer might be yes.

This thread moves fast, maybe I missed something?

It still has other things going for it besides ICS:
NFC
4.65" 720P Display
5 Megapixel Camera (that's right) with near zero shutter lag, panoramic mode, editing tools, etc..
Updates straight from Google - First

Having said that - ICS is a big selling point :)

The updates will come from Google but I am not expecting them fast. With the Verizon bloatware I am expecting all updates to have to be approved by Verizon first. Expect it to be like any other phone where Verizon holds up the updates longer then needed because they are testing them.

Holy Smokes.......

Everyone should just relax and settle down. The December 8th release date has been in place for at least 4 weeks now so sending letters and stomping your feet on twitter and FB isn't going to change a darn thing.

You guys are looking at the earliest a December 8th release. Yes that's right it could go OVER a few days.

It's a phone. Move on with your lives. It's coming in a few weeks. You've wasted hours and hours of your life on this thread and will never get that time back. Go out and live life and you will see that in the grand scheme of things this is meaningless. Go out and have fun for crying out loud. It will give you a whole new perspective on what is important in life and I can assure you a phone is not even on that list.

Get outta here and live!!!!!!!! :)

Can someone let me know what writing a letter will accomplish and what VZW has done wrong?

Call the White House and the President answers! :D

Hiya compadre, nice to see you! :)

Yep, I think we have some sanity on the letter approach restored.

I almost thought that the second part of your question was to recall the Thunderbolt launch. ;)

I was reading that Google chose the 5MP camera because it had superior low light performance. Make sense and I'm glad someone is designing for the results, rather than just for spec sheets.

Oh no, now I sound like an Apple fanboy. :(

What has VZW done wrong to even get a letter?

Because it's a phone that's already out in certain parts of the world, has a known release date for Canada, and asking for a firm release date for Verizon isn't too much to ask?

Unless they're specifically trying to have a surprise release date, they should announce when it's coming out especially if it's supposed to be within the next 3 weeks. It seems unreasonable that they wouldn't know which makes people believe that they're just doing it for a money grab for people who buy a Razr or Rezound.

And getting a letter is not the worst thing in the world. I'm sure they'll get over it.

The biggest selling point imo are the straight from Google updates, if that is not going to be the case and everything will be prolonged in testing by vzw, then this phone has lost its appeal to me.

Oh yeah. I was thinking of the Windsock's tweet. Sorry.

CK, I don't think now's the best time. :p

Besides, it's gray and freezing in Chicago, and my wife's pulling a double shift today. Nothing else to do.

But on the topic of the 8th, I highly, highly doubt it's been "in place for about 4 weeks now". According to every other source, dates have been changing constantly. Your Apple developers, sorry to say, aren't "in the know". Every date from Oct. 27 through mid-December has been "confirmed" by one source or another.

CK coming back to try to bring some sanity here. :D

I see you've been pretty happy with your RAZR, congrats.
