***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

16 and counting.......
Lets start the countdown clock again!
I'm just starting to fell a little excitement again for the Gnex after several confusing and disheartening reports about dates, specs and problems.
I really want the Gnex again :D.

Don't split the sections please. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that it will make it harder to find information.

Admin tends to split a device into various sections when it's apparent that the model differences need proper Support and Rooting areas, based on hardware or carrier differences.

Too early to be terribly concerned about this, but not too early for staff to start providing input to Phases for mapping out how the site ought best respond to special needs.

We like to plan ahead. ;)

Honestly, the only thing at this point that MIGHT trump the Nexus are the quad-core devices. I say might because it is going to take awhile for anything to really take advantage of 4 cores, aside from a few games that NVIDIA is showing off.

But, even if you were to say that the first quad core mobile phone will be an overall better choice than the Nexus (which in my opinion is very unlikely), you aren't going to see a quad core phone in the US until the very least March/April, and there's no telling when one will come to Verizon.

Even if the Nexus were to be released December 30th, you would still need to wait quite a few months for anything worthy of waiting for to come out.

A nice thing about the quad cores is they're supposedly going to improve battery life greatly, with 1 or 2 processors being very low power consuming ones and the others being normal. So I'll be curious to see how well they perform and what battery life is on them. And who knows if displays will be better in a couple months... but this can be said for all technology since something newer is ALWAYS on the horizon.

The nice thing about getting the Galaxy Nexus is we know it'll be supported with quick updates from Google and we KNOW it has an unlocked bootloader (which for us who have rooted our phones is needed). :)

So as the release date slips further into the future, is there any consideration for just waiting for the next round of Verizon ICS phones?

What is the next big phone on the horizon?

That's what I'm debating in my head. I want to have the latest and best phone for my money but if Verizon decides to release the GNex late December or later, might as well wait till next year for better ICS phones to come out.

Anyone a little worried about scottg? Quite a sudden disappearance.

Not anymore.

Well I haven't been on since last night, someone keep me up-to-date; any news or possible theories? (11/22) I read about the 720p FFC and the Verizon BF deals... but anything else besides that will be thanked :D

Nope. All We know is nothing more than what you just stated

I posted " Will you please quit giving canned robot responses or avoiding the question all together? When are you going to release the Galaxy Nexus?

We are tired of you pushing Droid X remakes and Droid Incredible variations on us. We pay a premium price for service and devices, how about some premium customer appreciation?"

It's still there. And I liked it. Lol.
I think they only take down things they deem offensive

I'm going to Black Friday...Got to be careful of Soccer Mom's. Soccer Mom's do that Zumba. Isn't Zumba like Brazilian Death Dancing?

Watch it there bucko, I love Zumba. :D And I am NOT a soccer mom by any stretch of the imagination

That's what an SSH tunnel is for ;) All work sees from my personal browsing is encrypted bits flowing to my server at home.

I may have just found my new best friend.......

Long term lurker, first time poster, this brought me out. Busines Insider cofirms December release from Samsung...

welcome to the party!

Just to clarify your description here: Quad-core does not mean dual-processor.

What do you guys think of the reports of very laggy launcher performance with certain Live Wallpapers on? Personally, I find laggy performance with Live Wallpaper to be one of the only disappointments of my Droid X experience. I, for one, refuse to upgrade early (at great expense) to a device with similar graphical limitations as my current phone.

For me, the only reason to wait would be for battery life reasons, notably the 2nd generation LTE radios. LTE in its current form is a battery hog, and I'm hoping the 2nd gen LTE radios are a vast improvement. But the only way I'm waiting is if the SGN gets pushed into January.

For what it's worth:

Just spoke with vzw csr rep at call center. I'm interested in locking in the double data for the SGN.

Me: When does the double data promo end.
CSR: It's for the month of November.
Me: So it will be over at the beginning of December.
CSR: That's correct.
Me: Let me ask. I'm interested in getting the SGN, but obviously would love to lock in this promo. Is there any way I could sign up for this promo, even if it means signing a contract?
CSR: We're currently having trouble with out computers. Would you like me to call you when the phone is available and you'll be able to get the promo?
Me: So, when the SGN becomes available you'll give me a call and honor this promo?
CSR: Yes.
Me: Sounds great, thank-you.

---------------------------------------------

Overall it was a rather strange conversation, as the employee seemed a bit flustered (maybe they were actually having computer problems). But that's my situation.

I just don't want to lose the double data. I've had a family plan with 5 people with them since 2004...they OWE me double data when they finally release the SGN! (in my humble opinion)

i just can't wait for this phone was gonna go with a rent-a-rezound but in case of a preorder i'll wait my rooted droid 3 isn't so bad at the moment since i trashed the bloatware

I found this funny. As I'm sure many of you do, I use Swiftkey X for my keyboard. It has learned that whenever I type the word 'Hans' the next word it always predicts is 'sister'.

Anyone else have this happen? :p

Hasn't happened to me, butI find that so funny. I love that app, haha.

I may be one of the few people that hates using live wall paper. I use a 'live' wallpaper that actually locks my wallpaper to one screen because I don't like it scrolling either

Speaking of which, did we end up beating the DInc thread? I don't remember how many posts that had...

Not yet. 47k and change to beat it
