***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Not open for further replies.
Well, it's the start of another week and we still don't have an "official" release date. I won't say I am starting to lose hope, but it is getting a little difficult. I have had 4 different phones in the last 6-8 months and have been waiting for this phone to finally get me through the last year or so of my contract. I know there is nothing we can do, but it is quite frustrating that nothing is being said by big V. Taking a deep breath and trying to keep the faith that next Thursday I will be holding this beauty. Good day to you all.

Good morning as well.

But let me address another point for you and others. Verizon never said anything but before end of year. We are all disappointed in Verizon, but for what? All speculations of early release have been rumors. We should direct our anger at the rumor mill, not Verizon.

It will come when it's ready, and we'll all look back at this tiny wait and laugh. Even now, people who were just as testy in the DInc thread look back in fondness.

Do we honestly believe that verizon is going to release this phone on the 8th? I could be wrong but I have serious doubts..heres why a phone of this magnitude with no marketing and no leaked videos ( lte version) a week before its released goes against all marketing principles. Also droid 4 is slated for the 8th ( which seems beliveible based on the marketing trajectory and velocity) could verizon release these two phones together? Yes but I doubt it..

Same thing happened with the Dinc. We knew absolutely everything about the phone with only the release date in question. Preorder announced. 2 weeks later phone in hand.

the sgn will only be my second verizon phone, the first being the original droid. in your opinions, which is the best way to order? online overnight shipping, in store on release date, or a third-party-esque store like bestbuy?

If the preorder period is longer than 2-3 days, you might wind up with the phone a day or two early by preordering over the phone or online.

It seems to happen fairly consistently, at least a few phones always get shipped out a day or two early.

Otherwise if its a short preorder period, or none at all, I'm just planing to go to the store and pick it up.

I wouldn't be worried by impending Droid 4 release. Verizon has released multiple phones on the same day several times this year and the two phones are fairly substantially different in the target audience that would buy them.

Mass chaos was missed. Probably for the better honestly. It was ugly and made for a tense evening last night. Today we are playing nice though and will not be throwing any sand in the sandbox.

Kudos to Princess Leia.

But your right. Tensions are starting to go through the roof. People need to take a breath and realize this is just a phone. It will come, and it will be great, and we'll all have more fun.

As Tom Petty sang:
The waiting is the hardest part.

Well hopefully this week will be a little more fruitful in terms of information. This interesting, if albeit unbelievable, rumor from AC last night from one of the forum admins (if you guys know Jerry/gbhill).

***RUMOR ALERT***

BOULDER SIZED grain of salt, btw.

I personally think the Nexus Prime name change is a load of hogwash. It was announced as Galaxy Nexus, all leaks (aside from the Best Buy ads...later corrected) indicate Galaxy Nexus, Google's and Verizon's site indicates Galaxy Nexus...I just don't see them changing it this late in the game. If they were looking to ship by Christmas, then it would seem likely that packaging and production should have already been completed by now and the phones should be en-route to the US (if they aren't already here).

Number 2 and 3 is plausible but given that I don't believe number 1, I would consider those other two suspect. Not saying it's impossible but just really hard to believe this one.

I don't find it as difficult to believe the name change. Of course, that may be just because they did it to my Dinc. My ORIGINAL box for my Incredible simply said HTC Incredible. The second round of boxes said Droid Incredible by HTC. This may well be the case with the Nexus. As early adopters, we will likely get the original packaging. A rose by any other name . . .

You missed:

1. Radio bug fixed, shipments begin anew to Europe.
2. We still know NOTHING other than it did not come out over Black Friday or even on Cyber Monday to this point.
3. Han was slapped with an infraction, left a LONG diatribe and has left our company (for real this time)
4. People blew up and the thread was locked
5. We still know NOTHING.

Hope you had a great break!

So you're saying I didn't miss anything? lol :p

But then the have is not as good as the want

Hate that Han is gone... good thing I missed it all. Love the avatar by the way... my dream girl *drool*

Didn't know that! I suppose then it's possible but I still find it suspect as any rumor.

Good Morning Gnexers! :D

So what's new? Oh, THIS is:

That's for sure, Chief has his own "special" kind of math for counting the days.

"Don't count today, don't count the day it releases and since today is almost over, let's not count tomorrow either." :D

j/k my friend.

HAHA - 1 day to go! Well, we can't count this week or the week it closes. j/k

Okay, so for the record and all kidding aside, here's the Chief's official philosophy in counting days:

Don't count the day it's released. Don't count today unless it's SO early that Verizon isn't open yet. As the day progresses, you can count down the day and insert xx number of hours instead as a partial day.

Therefore: since Verizon isn't open for business yet, we have 10 days to go. Once they open, it'll be 9 days and change.

Call me technical (I am) and infinitely optimistic (I am), but that's my method and I'm sticking to it :p

10 days to go! Almost 9! WHOOT

Plus I know we are all down right now, but the massive swing when Verizon announces the date will be whiplash inducing. Then it will be like the days before Christmas, the excitement will be uncontainable. I want to be here for that.

I would agree if both phones had the same os version ..because it would a hardware and form factor choice..but the nexus is the next evolutionary step in software..do you really want to release an old software device on the same day?

Yeah 2 weeks preorder for the Dinc..we are pass that window now..

I use this as reasoning. They would've had to announce the preorder right over black friday. You don't want to mess up the potential sales there. So they can go with a little shorter preorder by announcing it today or tomorrow.

Just how I reason it while being optimistic. That's assuming it does do a preorder. It's possible it doesn't even have a preorder and the phone is announced by verizon 1-3 days before launch. I'm sure we'd hear more leaks in the upcoming days if no preorder occurred.

I like your one day to go method better ;)

Wow  I miss a few 1000 posts and all that! sorry to hear we lost Han...

If you're counting that way, you're gonna be saying 0 days at 10:00 am on the 27th.

I shamelessly stole BB's changing avatar technique and consulted with Big Bird, Elmo, and Count Von Count on the correct number of days. :D

Hey BB. My vote, today is your best Avatar yet. I especially like it when they interviewed her and found out because it was metal and not flexible, it tended to, um, have a gap, and the puppet operator for jabba the hut got a show...

I bet your accountant has a suicide watch on him at tax time. "Chiefematics" now being taught to scientists at NASA

Thanks. You all know I haven't seen any of them yet but it seemed fitting. Love the tidbit of info about the inflexible material.
