It seems to me - just thinking about it - that several States Attorneys General may be interested in knowing that a phone company is trying to manipulate ad control how its customers spend their own money on non-phone-related things. I mean: who is Verizon to tell me that I can't use Google Wallet, that I HAVE to use Isis? They could be opening up a legal can of worms here... and THAT may be the reason for the delay: running Nexus through the VZW Legal Department.
 
If the other carriers had VZW coverage, jumping ship would be easy for me, but they dont. Also, think if a company offered REAL unlkimited data, and forced the other ones to do the same. We just need more compentition. Were stuck with VZW, ATT, T Mobile and Sprint, pitiful. The consumer gets screwed without getting kissed first.

I do agree the SGN release is all about sales of other pre existing phones and the contract. Gotta clear the inventory. VZW has the best selection of phones. Look at Sprint. Get a Ipone or a Evo and that's it, plus shitty coverage. ATT isnt much better. Top all that off with a two year contract (which should be against the law) and were stuck with what we have....kinda like Congress. Its all about the contract. VZW is going to make $2088 (87 a month ) off me, plus the price of a phone over two years.

I'm really thinking of shopping CL for something to tide me over, my Eris is on its last leg. That way it puts the ball back in my court, which as consumers, is where we should keep it.

If you've ever been in a strip club....they make more off the beer than the dancers, the dancers just get you in the door. Well VZW dancers are the SGN and the beer is the contract........

Isn't there something wrong with this picture though, how is it that Verizon allows Apple to do whatever the heck they want (I know it's Apple and blah blah blah but they still suck imho) while Google can't release their darn phone already?? Meanwhile Verizon is adding their bloatware and possibly removing NFC and Google Wallet completely (what if Verizon wanted to add or remove apps from the iphone, or change it however they wanted to?).... Ugh, If I wasn't on a family plan and if Verizon's 4g/lte network wasn't so much better than the competitions in this area I would seriously consider switching providers.

I wish google could sell the phones and verizon would just sell data/voice plans and that my life would be simpler and happier.

Higher demand for the iPhone 4 than any ONE android phone.. They wanted a piece of the pie and getting the iPhone would put a hurting on AT&T in places where their customer base is marginal.

I don't think it's really mentioned in many reviews.

Google Wallet is only available in the US...haven't heard anyone who shipped it over mention it

i'm not a fan of it either, but verizon can say no to the nexus easier and just sell any of the other 20 android phones on their network vs saying no to the iphone, so at this point in the game apple has a lot more pull. they still have some things they work with carriers on, like how at&t didnt want facetime on 3g, and they were ok with that. also tethering without paying more (the biggest scam goin next to paying for texting AND a data plan) is something else they are working with carriers on.

carriers have too much control overall, and eventually they will all offer the same service at the same price and compete with their coverage and phones.

If Verizon is wanting to push Isis or whatever it is they want to use the NFC capabilities for, then no, it could not lauch with Google Wallet. They could open up a HUGE can of worms by launching a phone with an advertised feature and then take it away to make you use their version. Now they could launch without anything and disable all NFC Wallet type activities and then activate it later....but I'm sure that will be a selling point when they launch it. Having some sort of mobile wallet capability will set it apart from the other phones.
 
So, no preorders for today it looks like. Unless they do it later today which might happen but I kinda doubt it.

Guess we're on a cold trail now? No leads, rumors, nothing?

Just a hopeful Dec 8 date..

That is why forums like this exist. They are here for us to discuss all aspects of the device as well as speculate rant and obsess.

This forum would not have a third of its posts if we didn't speculate moan and discuss. Thanks to the utter black out of info from Crapizon.

THIS IS NOT A PERSONAL ATTACK JUST AN OBSERVATION.

If the thread does not contain enough fact blame VZW. If the obssesive nature and complaining gets to you again blame VZW.

This is the nature of threads like this and you are only the 900th person to say It's just a phone" we know :)

i'm pretty sure isis is also the reason why the t-mobile and at&t versions of the nexus s don't have wallet either. its odd that it would come up this round and possibly delay the phone coming out without freezing sales of the nexus s as well, so im not so sure about that one.

Isn't this also the kind of thing that Google and Verizon should have worked out as part of the negotiations to even have the phone on Verizon in the first place? This doesn't seem like the kind of thing where one or both parties could be caught by surprise.

This is why I think people shoule not direct their anger at this site, at people who provides "tips", or even at Verizon. The only party they should be mad at is Google. Apple can work with all 3 US providers to get the iPhone ready for all 3 networks, and release the phone less than 10 days after press conference. Yet Google failed to release the Nexus in US 2 months after announcement.

Look at Moto and HTC, their flagship phones RAZR and Rezound were ready for purchase/pre-order days after announcement. Why can't Google/Samsung do the same?
