***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

My local VZW just told me that they're selling the nexus tomorrow. Pretty fired up right now :)

Spoke to a rep in Rochester, MI who said they don't have an exact release date until later today. Not sure if that's significant, but maybe it means something.

What is this $20 upgrade fee?

I've only been on Verizon for 2 years (since OG Droid) so not sure what fees are associated with upgrading. When I (finally) get the SGN, I should only pay $299 + tax correct?

I read somewhere activation fees on upgrades are waived.

Note that you pay tax on the full retail price, at least in California.

FWIW Salesperson at Costco thinks they will be selling them tomorrow. She could easily not have the latest info though. She didn't know if they had received inventory yet as she "only works part time."

I activated my girls rezound this morning. I casually asked about the nexus. The rep said he knows nothing but did offer to look it up. He said it isn't in the system.

He did say the number of calls he has personally received about the nexus is 10 to 1 over other phones.

So, as I normally do each day, I dial *611 to get a rep on the phone.

"Hello and good morning to you, how are you?" I start with a friendly greeting.

I then told the lady I wanted to purchase the Galaxy Nexus, "Oh that is a great phone, the best phone on the market, or will be when it comes to the market, I have played with it and it is great! I too am excited for this phone".

She then goes through and verifies me, my eligible upgrade, gives me the price, takes my shipping address (not going to my house to sit at the door all day until I get home) and....

"Hmm, it's not letting submit. Let me get someone to help to see if I can complete".

After this her lips were tight when she came on the phone and informed me to go to the website and sign up for the email sign up to be informed about any further information. "Currently we have the RAZR and 4s available." I tried my best to get more information but I had a feeling she was being monitored and I didn't want to get her in trouble.

I share, because I have a good feeling about this coming out tomorrow...or if the 4G coverage rumors are correct, then once that is stable. For me, where I work and live I am on the outskirts of 4G so it doesn't matter to me.

So just spoke to an internet relations manager on the phone. I had emailed him earlier in the week and asked him about bumping my upgrade... anyway long story short, he told me that despite the delay reported, the phone is launching FOR SURE tomorrow. He seemed pretty adamant.

Anyway, take it for what its worth, grain of salt, blah blah.

For all those that think this has to do with Google Wallet:

Statement from Jeffrey Nelson, spokesperson for Verizon: Recent reports that Verizon is blocking Google Wallet on our devices are false. Verizon does not block applications.
Google Wallet is different from other widely-available m-commerce services. Google Wallet does not simply access the operating system and basic hardware of our phones like thousands of other applications. Instead, in order to work as architected by Google, Google Wallet needs to be integrated into a new, secure and proprietary hardware element in our phones.

Based on this, Verizon doesn't really have a choice. It's not a software issue, it's a hardware issue.

I have a hard time with Mr. Nelson's statement. So let me get this straight, Google has their Wallet working on the Nexus S, they design a new Nexus phone and neglect to include the necessary hardware? "Oh crap! We forgot to put in the framus which enables Google Wallet!!! We are so screwed! What are we going to do? I've got it, let's blame Verizon!"

I don't think so. One party is talking out of their ass and since Verizon is supporting a competing technology, my logic dictates it's them.

I just hung up with a Rep from my local Verizon store. I called and asked if they are going to be selling the Galaxy Nexus tomorrow? The Rep said, "Hang on a second". He returned to the phone and said, "Yes, we will be selling the Nexus tomorrow".

People posting stuff like this, I don't think you're lying or the person yo'ure speaking to is lying, I just think it's the usual not-knowing-what-they're-talking-about by the rep. There isn't going to be a Nexus available tomorrow. Verizon hasn't made a huge deal out of the Nexus but they've at least mentioned it enough in their PR that they're not going to simply drop it on stores at the last minute.

Sucks, and I wish I could go buy one tomorrow, but without a single word from Verizon it doesn't matter what any rep at any store says.

Guys can I get my $50 loyalty credit from a place like costco or best buy? Or do I need to go to vzw for that. This will also ne doing an alternate upgrade from my wifes line. Can a third party handle that?

I'm also a little worried about my unlimited data.

My rep still hasn't called/texted to cancel my appointment tomorrow morning at 10AM central. I just texted him to make sure everything is still good. I'm hoping for the best, but fear for the worst.

Hopefully the theory on soft-launch tomorrow is correct. Stores might be getting word that they can sell the phone tomorrow.

Verizon still might wait till next week to make it official.

Has Verizon ever let a phone go on sale without announcing it?

Wow, after two full months of being an optimist, I finally conceded to my doubts this morning that we would not be getting the phone tomorrow.

And then the good news starts flowing...

Its almost noon and not one press release by Verizon. COme on, let the first one out the gate be the one!!!!
