I also called to get the $30 discount on the phone. I dailed 611 and they said that since it was an internet discount they couldn't apply it, so I called the Internet team. The girl there said that they could apply it once I activated the phone.
I called again and spoke to an older woman who seemed to have a little difficulty understanding what I was saying, but I wanted to make sure that they made a notation on my account to apply the additional $30. Finally, she said that she saw it and she made an additional notation that she also agreed to do so.
While I was talking to her, she kept saying that she didn't see any authorization for a new discount and the only one that was showing up for them was 10% off the phone.
So apparently, they are authorized to take 10% off. It's worth a shot if you can't get the $30 off.
