Wait..I purchased the Inc on my husbands NE2 line. I was going to activate it on his line...then call and switch it over to mine. That's ok, right? If I receive a $500something bill a few months later I will die
That will be fine. They don't care who's line it ends up on as long as 2 things occur: you pay the bill for the phone(what ever your cost ends up being, 99, 199, etc.) and you fulfill the 2 year contract. Other than that they couldn't care less who's line it goes on since the database still shows that you owe them for a phone and that you owe them 2 years. They get their pound of flesh, trust me.

Yea, but I ordered on the 19th which was supposedly before the promo began. So the CSR I talked to said they couldn't apply the discount to my order retro-actively. Instead he refunded the cost of the red/black gradient case I had ordered earlier today.

It didn't recognize that the card was a rebate card. It just accepted it as a regular debit card.

If I'm reading you right, you bought the phone on one plan and maybe got an NE2 discount, and an on-line $100 discount. All that's OK. You need to activate the phone on that plan.
From that point forward you can do what VZW calls an assumption of liability, which means you agree to accept the phone on a line under your plan. Its easy, aside from the usual forms. You can do it in the store. Not sure about online.

I would leave it on his over the weekend, then switch them out via the web site Sunday.. I am doing something similar. I got the TP on my Mom's account because she was not going to use her NE2 credit. I will drop her back to her old phone Sunday and activate it on my account. SHOULD work for your example for sure, I give mine a 99% chance.. I have never had any issues switching phones around via the web interface. If I run into a problem, I will just return it and get one on my account and skip my NE2 credit..
I spoke with a CSR and she said it would take about 5 minutes if I call to switch it to my line ...then reactivate my hubbys old phone back to his line. He needs his phone on him every second because he's on call 24/7 so there would be no way for me to play with it till he was switched...frightening thought waiting for more than 10 minutes to have control of the Inc!

Just gotta say that I am in LOVE!!!!!
I had to go down to the Verizon store with my wife to get her palm pre plus replaced ( i know, I know). When we got there we were greeted and asked if there was anything they could help us with, of course before my wife could answer I spouted off " do you have an incredible I can play with?!" of course the CSR said "no, not until Thursday", deterred I grumble some nasty words under my breath and let her help my wife. So I'm wandering around the store eves dropping when I can to try and deduce which of these people is the manager, after about 5 mins. I figure out which one she is and I go in for the Kill.
As I approached her she gets off " anything I can help you with?", I think to myself "lady you have no idea!" So I ask her about the incredible and she responds "yeah I have one in back, let me go get it for you". Really it was that easy? NO teeth pulling or water-boarding? Just when I get the suspicion that it's a trap she's comes out and calmly hands it to me...... I have no clue as to why but my hand were shaking like a leaf in chicago, maybe because it was the final step in this long journey but I was about to hold the very thing that I have been stalking for so long. At first touch this phone feels very very solid. Not cheap or plasticy at all, this is an amazing build and I can tell you that the talks of it feeling cheap are wholey unfounded. The phone is amazingly fast and the speakers are actually pretty damn good, one of the employees installed the lightsaber app so I was able to play around with that. I was able to play around with just about everything I could think of ( over an hour of playtime with it). THe Camera is another area that I thought (from reviews) would be a little lack luster but let me tell you that the camera Rocked!!! The phone IMO was worth the wait and lives up to the hype now I just gotta wait another day, which is a lot more difficult knowing what I'm getting now!!!!

After work today I went straight home, picked up me pre-order gift card, printed outmy $25 in reward zone money and rushed over to Best Buy. I told them I had called and was told I could come in a pick up my Incredible. She checked the system, found zero in stock, and asked who called me. I told the girl, No I called you and was told I could pick it up anytime today. I got the manager to find out WTF and appearantly the girl I spoke to misunderstood. She didn't work in the phone dept but asked someone that she thought worked in that dept, but actually didn;t and was just filling in. So in the end what I was baing told was that I could come in and PRE-ORDER a phone I had already preordered.
Anyway, the manager called the Verizon rep and was told that they will not have them until Thursdat the 29th for sure 
. It was also explained to me that they will call me to set up an appointment for acitvation and I should just be paitent.So, sorry to anyone who's hopes I peaked and have now smashed. I will be deleting the qupoted post so as not to feed to demon of impatience any further tonight.

I've never heard of a plan like that on a single line. Most likely, they were quoting you on the new plans + $30 data for the Incredible.

im sure its a application/software issue. On my mytouch 3g, the web and gallery are the same way. However, i downloaded another third party gallery and i could turn it either way. Interesting.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the Moto Droid was that way as well. But that could be do to the slide out keyboard, if you twisted it clockwise the keyboard would rise from the top and be upside down. Not sure on the Eris as I only used one for about half a minute.
I'm pretty sure that if you're both on the same family plan you don't have to activate it on his line first and then switch - you can just activate it on your line. At least that's what customer service told me last week. Apparently they got tired of people calling to do this, so now the activation process allows you to enter the phone number you want it to be activated on, instead of it automatically activating on the ordered line.Wait..I purchased the Inc on my husbands NE2 line.
