Official Release Date Rumor Thread

As of right now it's just a rumor. I don't see them putting out two versions for one carrier not giving the others the option too. I do see them throwing a Galaxy Z (R) are way or the Galaxy S 3D which both contain no keyboard

Well, it's all rumors at this point including the keyboard one. None of them is official. Being leaked out a little ahead of all screen one doesn't make it any more credible. It's not only the Android Central one that all screen one was leaked. There were couple of all screen Attain photos leaked a few months ago already. It can turn out either way. I'm 50/50 on it.

Agreed. Other than just photos, nothing on spec, date was confirmed.

Good grief, I hope it's all a horrible lie. I have zero desire for a physical keyboard and no money to import an unsubsidized European phone. If this does happen, I may have use my upgrade for a slider, ebay-it for cash, then use the cash to get an import. Pain in my rear ...

I'm betting that if AT&T is getting two versions of the phone, one version will be one of the mid-range variants that have been popping up all over. I really can't see them trying to sell two keyboard variants of the exact same phone.

That is what is rumored to be happening on sprint.

Mid range epic 2 with single core and slider and the sg2 within without slider

time will tell

just speculation haha

Yea, its pretty silly.

I don't know if the rumored mid-grade iPhone 5 (4s?) is in response to the mid-grade droid phones or if its the other way around.

Either way, there is a fair chance that 1 of the 2 SG2 variant phones will be a mid-grade phone.

This is fine, just don't pick winners and losers in your customer base by sticking such a polarizing feature on THE phone to rival the iPhone 5.....especially after all the HUGE success the phone has had internationally.

I can understand that AT&T wants to look out for THEIR own market mix of phones and would like to have a top of the line keyboard phone, because they are lacking. Just release a keyboard & non keyboard version then.

What's ashame in this is that Samsung is the one having to compete with Apple....not AT&T. Yet if the rumors are true about AT&T pushing for the keyboard on the SG2 due to their own market mix.....then AT&T will be the one hurting Samsung's sales.

If it has a keyboard, I'll still buy it, especially if it's thinner than my Epic. I would definitely prefer that it NOT have it, but it's not a deal breaker for me, when it has such awesome specs.

Just to clarify...the only the "We think the best things often come in 4...
" part is what Samsung posted. I totally misunderstood your post!

What annoys me is one of the big "selling features" of this phone is how light and thin it's supposed to be. I just can't figure out why they think adding a bulky (and generally useless) keyboard would be a draw.

Did anyone else notice that there is not one lick of AT&T branding on that slider phone? And I doubt they put a slider on it. AT&T isn't big on slider smarphones... and for a reason look what there is the crossover and the flipside and thats about it.

to be fair look at the bezel... there isn't even room to put samsung on the front of the phone. plus we haven't gotten a good look at the back.

that's one way to look at it, another way is maybe they felt they were weak in the hardware keyboard sector and decided to do something about it.

Hmmmm.... even if the Attain does have the QWERTY kb...is it really such a bad thing? I ask this because I've never had a phone with a QWERTY. My last two phones have been a Motorola Razor and my current Iphone 3G...(as you can see i keep my phones for a long time). If the Attain has the new TouchWiz 4.0 and the Exynos processor, and you can still type on the touchscreen......is having the kb THAT horrible? I'm coming from the Apple like i said....never had an Android phone... but I'm hoping to find out all I can before i buy... I'm down to the Attain (when it's released) and the Infuse. I don't think i'll wait around for the new Iphone...

Slide out keyboard is not necessarily a bad thing if designed properly. Some phones have bad key layout, bad key shape, too loose or too tight. But there are some excellent ones like new Droid 3, MT4G slide, which are reasonably slim.

keyboard is almost a must for me. (it's a lot easier to drive and txt without having to look at my phone.) So that's actually a plus for me since I am almost constantly on the road doing a million things at once. Supposedly this phone is still incredibly light even with the keyboard. If you don't like it, then dont pop it out :P

and what state are you in, atx84? I want to make sure I'm no where near the roads you're driving on if you're texting and driving.

You know Android has the you talk it types feature out of box, right?

It's better than the people i see texting on an iphone while driving. I can watch the road, drive with my knee, and text all day long. The exact same thing millions of people do (and have done) for other 'task'. Oh, and I'm from Austin, TX ;)

Yea, but i dont feel like rolling up a window, turning down the radio, having everyone hear my text message, have to look down to make sure it got it right. It is something I would like to try out, but my previous experience with voice commands isn't up to par where it should be. Google listened to every single google411 and took millions of voice samples, i mean c'mon, it doesnt get much easier than that. Maybe the Attain will magically work better, and if so, great. Might be time to invest in a really good bluetooth with that 3.0 it has

OMG I just want some sort of announcement with a release date...be it QWERTY or not!!!! I've been holding onto my Iphone 3G since '08 and dealing with the crashes ever since I updated it to IOS 4.0. I've even almost pulled the trigger on the Infuse but held off once I heard a GSII variant was possibly coming in July (which obviously wasn't the case)... and now the Thrill 3D is coming out too.... Geez!!
