[Official] What Changes Have You Noticed After Updating to 2.2 (Froyo)?

I found that the mic button from my old iPhone earphones at least partially works now. You can use it to pause / start music in media player.

I noticed the Calendar entry is white.

I also noticed that after setting my security method to PIN, you have to double unlock now (swipe then enter PIN) when before all you needed to do was enter your PIN. /dislike

You can't double tap period to type a comma anymore.

also theres a pretty ugly slider button to scroll through texts now. it bugs me. hopefully it can be changed somehow

My guess is this will be the update that is pushed out, everything is working great, but if there are any changes we will still get the OTA

As a shafted Droid eris user, i gotta disagree with you on this one. We eris users were on crappy 1.6 for the longest time and waited as htc/verizon made promise after promise of "2.1 ota is coming, it's going to be this date", "no, not the last date. I misspoke while on a crack high. This date!" We got fed up and loaded a couple leaked 2.1 builds and not even a month later the official ota came and the leakers were left out. The network would do OS checks before it updated and it say we already had 2.1, so it skipped us. So i'd say update at your own risk. Patience pays off in the end

Is there, as of yet, any way to disable the vibration when "sliding to unlock"? It's loud and somewhat obnoxious.

Also, I've noticed that the Contact recognition software on the new 2.2 Voice commands is different that I expected. Specifically, I can't seem to get it to recognize ANY of my contacts.

Perfect Example: "Send text to John Brown hey buddy what's up"

Pop Up Window-

To: (blank)

Message: John Brown hey buddy what's up

Is this feature working for anyone else?

On my Droid 1 I installed a leaked 2.1 and still got an OTA update. Maybe that is just more of MOTO being better than HTC

Well with the Droid 1 Android 2.2 Leak which happened to be the same that Verizon just released via OTA you could download it via a update.zip file or wait for the OTA I don't see this being any different with the Droid X update, even this leak was a update.zip file.

The universal search button for me no longer looks through my contacts, and the universal google search bar is totally broken. When I use it once, it locks to the top of my screen and accepts no input and glitches that entire homescreen. Had to restart to remove it.

Edit: I take back the first problem. Contact search was under settings.

fixed part of my pixel problem, but I still have a red line from top to bottom on the left 1/3 of my screen and videos...I guess my X goes back :(

I have the same problem. Called Verizon, and a replacement will be here Tuesday.

Do you think they would be angry that you updated to 2.2 and sent it back?

Alright, I have not read this anywhere yet but it was the first thing I noticed when I updated. When scrolling through homescreens, a little animation was added that is similar to what you see in launcherpro where the screen kind of kicks back a little once you swipe to another homescreen. That is usually all good except I now notice that the static wallpaper image kind of flashes and it appears juttery now when scrolling through homescreens. The effect seems worse on lighter color wallpapers such as the gray stock one. I have confirmed this effect with one of my friends who just updated so I know I'm not crazy lol. So while scrolling through homescreens is smoother, I found it to appear more juttery/flashing. Otherwise... froyo kicks ass.

1.) Loading pages in dolphin he seems faster.
2.) My motorola weather widget isn't working.
3.) I can finally select text and copy/paste in gmail. I can't believe they didn't have that before. Hmm. Just noticed the keyboard must be a little better as I haven't made a mistake typing this. So I guess that's #4

I use appalarm to wake up to Pandora. I used it for my nap today and when I hit dismiss alarm and kill app I got a popup that said this was no longer allowed in froyo. You have to hit the back button to manually kill the app

Update - Tasker will not kill an app either

my htc keyboard apk doesnt work anymore. this sucks ass. no t9 texting. anyone running htc_ime able to fix this? i'd rather be able to text fast than watch flash :(

Anyone else give the new voice commands a whirl? I can't seem to get the text and call voice commands to recognize any of my spoken contacts. To be clear, im talking about the new functionality of the google search bar (or the long press of the search button).

Also, my flash no longer seems to sync up with my camera shutter. It'll light up, and then turn off right when he shutter closes. This happens with both Auto flash and Flash On.

Could someone else test these and report back?

I was actually surprised his well it recognized what I was saying and my contact names, I have a pretty thick southern accent so I was impressed.
