I don't believe there's any sort of cover up because there is no evidence to support that conclusion. The evidence we have seen is consistent with the official story.
The White House is in a position where they cannot win. If they release the pics of the corpse, people will claim they were photoshopped. If they release the DNA evidence, people will claim it was faked. If they release the actual DNA samples to a lab that everyone agrees was impartial for testing, people will claim that the DNA does not actually prove he is dead. It only proves the feds have a DNA sample. If they release all of the above evidence people will claim all of it is faked. Look at the loons who still think 9/11 was an inside job despite there not being a shred of evidence to back up that theory and mountains of evidence backing up the official story.

yeah.. but if they had the body.. and released it to an impartial scientific community to verify... and have it verified by the family. hhhmm.....
but they dumped it asap... into the ocean... hhmmmm....
it does not help with the conspiracy theorist.

They say they dumped it. Maybe they still have it. (I don't believe that though, I believe the official story.)
Anyway, the photo would become a phenomenon over the internet, that's probably what they don't want to happen. Imagine if it was the picture of a dead American leader. It would be outrageous.
While it may seem suspicious, it's to avoid a ton of problems. Even if they released it to a completely independent scientific crew, the conspiracy people would still cry fake.
While it doesn't help their theory. What do these conspiracy people even have as evidence? Other than their imagination?
Almost all the conspiracies are different. At least the government's story lines up.

and i dont care of the sensibility of the people that would be offended about exposing pics or body of the mass murder. i dont care about the terrorist.
If an american or catholic did such a terrible crime... i would not be apposed to how they treated them... to capture.. and prove their identity

I think that the US is in a really tough position. If they did nothing and he got away, the US would get bad press for failing to apprehend him and Bin Laden's followers will rally as well. Now that the US killed him, some feel that there is a threat of reprisal.
The immediate ramifications seem to be US relations with Pakistan. The relations between these two countries did not seem that good to begin with. The US strike within Pakistan without Pakistan's knowledge makes Pakistan either look either incompetent and/or appear to be aiding Bin Laden. Either way, relations will probably be even more strained.
What this operation seems to accomplish to me is raise the moral of the US. Bin Laden is considered to be largely responsible for 9/11. No doubt people in the US are rejoicing over his death at least in the short term.
As for the long term repercussions, I don't know if anything will really change. Extremists followers of Bin Laden will probably continue to target US and probably other western interests. That probably would have continued regardless of whether Bin Laden was killed or not. I would expect the organisation structure of al-Qaeda is such that if a leader is killed, there will be others who would take over and continue. If any head of state is killed, the country doesn't just stop. Others will ascend to the top position and keep things going. Already, I hear in the news about Bin Laden's successor and what his moves may be. The US may have won this battle, but I do not believe that the war is any closer to being over.

Some news outlets are now filing freedom of information act requests to get the photos and videos released. Obama might have planned on this. That way, the photos get released, but he can say its not his fault, he was against it. Best of both worlds. (if the requests are approved, of course)

It just pisses me off that there are conspiracy theorists who STILL believe that Osama is alive. Feds say he's dead. Pakistan says he's dead. His family says he's dead. al-Qaeda says he's dead. Conspiracy theories claim there is "no proof." Idiocy like this is what is wrong with this country.

Ok wheres your proof that he is dead. Just becasue our govenment say he is you are going to take them at face value. The same people that are in charge of doing the right thing and not screw up the country. I am not saying he is but the Conspiracy theorists are correct in one thing. There is no hard proof that he is dead. We are told there are pictures but we cant see them. We have video but still we cant see it. We have a body but they dumped it overboard. A DNA test was done but how do we know it wasn't a sample they had for awhile.
So everything the Government has done is a Conspiracy Theorists wet dream.

Now, I can see where Pakistan and the US might lie. There's no reason why Osama and al-Qaeda would. If Osama is better off as a dead martyr than a live leader, they'd have claimed he was dead a long time ago. The guy is dead. The mountain of evidence points to the guy being dead. There is not a shred of evidence out there contradicting the Feds story and there are accounts from our ENEMIES that back it up. What motivation would our enemies have to back up our story?

Then why didn't the family and al-Qaeda lie years ago? They could've easily claimed that Bin Ladin died in a raid or bombing attack. The US wouldn't have any way to confirm or deny it. Why lie now?

simple he was the face of al qaeda. he was defying the west and thats like the uncle sam posters many years ago to get people to join the military. they can say he is getting old his health is really bad. so they saw this as a opportunity to give him a rest.
