I haven't checked android centrals twitter at all, no clue. I usually just stay here for the information I need. But I see some things on people I follow and I click on names that they retweet or reply to and see if I can get a clue as to what is going on.

DX2 pix. No biggie.

can everyone please stop feeding into the drama on Twitter.
Nothing has been proved or unproved.
P3 is causing drama and everyone has seen him go at it with multiple developers and Android websites. Its getting a bit ridiculous that people can't come to Androidforums and not see all the dev drama. If and when multiple sites and developers can finally conclude anything, that's when we should worry.

Till then, I think we can all agree that tethering illegally should be avoided and everyone asking where and how they can achieve illegal tethering should look elsewhere.

"Since certain people aren't explaining, VZW tested Washington DC for 12 hours. 2/3 of the amount of data was coming from people that were tethering and do not pay for the 3G mobile hotspot."

Does anyone else think this sounds absolutely ridiculous? Two thirds of all the VZW data in DC during a 12 hour period was by unauthorized tethering? Come on! Do you really think that there are that many rooted DX users that also use tether? Sounds very fishy to me.

I thought the numbers sounded high...but it wouldn't be just DX users that tether...essentially anyone rooted can tether without paying

I agree.

No matter who it includes 2/3 is a lot, each phone probably has a similar percentage of rooted users. The only way that would make sense to me is if they were to say 2/3 of data from rooted phones, but even that would be a stretch for me to believe

What it really comes down to is. If you need tethering, pay for the service. If you use it for work it is a write off or you should ask your boss for a really embursement. Its not really rocket science but i couldn't care less either way what each person does with his or her phone/plan.

Its ABSOLUTELY ridiculous. If the "rooted users are such a small community" comments that get thrown around are to be believed, then 2/3 of all the data in DC comes from rooted Xs using unauthorized tether is completely and totally unrealistic and cannot be believed. If there IS any truth to the DC comment, then it seems like its gonna be your normal android users that have bought a 3rd party tether app and people on mifis sucking up that bandwidth and Verizon just can't tell the difference.

I'm starting to lose faith in anything P3 says, but not his work. He's starting to sound like he's gonna sport a tinfoil hat while he's working.

Beesley Tweet. I thought of this before I read his tweet and tend to agree with his thinking:

I was just thinking (yes i know, dangerous) But no wonder P3 is shitting his pants tonight. He was charging ppl for an app to unlock VZW data throttling and tethering. Wouldnt be surprised if thats a felony. Can you imagine how many GB's that app has caused people to use? And to top it off, he got the idea from this post here ( Howto: Rootless 3G Mobile Hotspot - AP/Infrastructure Mode #Free4All - xda-developers ) and then took it for his own, and had the audacity to charge people for it. Not trying to be a white knight here, cuz I def used the app when I had an X, but I have a feeling since his TBH app has been ripped from the market, that he's probably (and better be) lawyered up.

His tweets tonight seem more like damage control to me, than an attempt to actually "save" ppl who are using "his" hack and/or gingerbread radio.

Anyway,Droid X users, Get that hack off of your phone ASAP, at this point you definitely aren't the shiniest piece of chrome on the car if you're still using it.

Good luck to all, including P3. I have a feeling he's gonna need it.

Ahhh, Steven...that makes perfect sense to me and thinkin about it, that sounds like the most likely scenario. He and his Moto / Verizon / whoever contacts might be getting too close a stpeping on some pretty friggin high dollar toes, or have already gone waist deep in dook and sinking fast.

Edit: Just for good measures, I'm flashing to the new Liberty. Don't use tethering, but can never be too safe. Using completely unreleased and likely "stolen" Gingerbread code might be as high on the list as stealing their geebees of bandwidth.

I think someone has hacked P3's twitter account, is making all these outrageous tweets, and is laughing his ass off watching all of his followers scramble around like cockroaches on a kitchen floor when the light gets turned on.

Awe frak, I guess I was wrong! Should have taken his tweet seriously. I didn't remove the patch, and my phone just imploded, caught fire, burned through my $1500 dollar oak table, and branded the Verizon logo in my carpet...

Looks like 'Big Red' means business!

Wait...

You have an oak table?

Pics?

That actually came across my mind last night. As well as GB ran, I've had enough of the drama (whether true or false). I've flashed back to .340. I may try Liberty again, though past versions didn't work too well with my system.

I will probably end up heading back to GB at some point. For now, I am going to sit tight and see what else is coming down the pipeline. Who knows if we will get a tweet that says "Get rid of GB ASAP" or something like that. I am sick of reflashing and SBF and total redos of my phone. Lol!

I agree with you, I just got GB to where I like it a lot. So I don't want to SBF back to froyo and have to set up my apps and launcher all over again.

I can't get the unpatch to work on my phone. I downloaded the unpatch from the TBH app, installed, went into recovery, installed the file from SD and rebooted. Connected to the 3G Hotspot with my Xoom and it still gets online like before. Tried again...same thing. Downloaded the unpatch file from MDW and get the same results. Not really stressing, as I've used it (3G Hotspot with the patch) for about 15 minutes total but wondering what gives.

I can almost see how this would be believable with z4 one click. I'm sure a chimp could figure out free tethering.
