Personal Preference: Which keypad do you use? (Android, Samsung, or Swype?)

Swype here... it's really amazing. I waited a few days before digging through the settings to enable it, but once I did the first thing out of my mouth was "Holy Shit!" I was and am totally amazed by this keyboard. I'm still getting used to it - I haven't gotten to the point where I can type words in rapid succession, but it's still waaaay faster than even a physical keyboard.

The only problem I have is sometimes the "cart" gets ahead of the "horse" so to speak and I try type the next closest letter rather than the letter that actually comes next :x
 
It's funny because I am typically a very fast typist, whether its on a phone keyboard with thumbs or a real keyboard on a computer. For some reason my first reaction to swyping around to spell words with one finger was "what the... where the crap is that letter?!" even though my thumbs would find it by second nature.

Hehe, this was my initial experience as well...
 
I've been using swype, I'm not sure that I'm faster on it yet, but I'm near the same speed with one hand instead of two which sometimes is a big plus.
 
didn't like swype at first, but it grew on me and now i think its amazing....doesn't work so well when drunk though :)
 
I've been using swype, but honestly, I REALLY REALLY wish you could set your portrait and landscape keyboards separately. I hate the swype keyboard in landscape, but love it in portrait for thumb typing. I was always a landscape typer on my iPhone and sometimes I wish i could go landscape with the android keyboard.
 
Samsung Keyboard for me. I tried Swype for a few days and didn't really like it. I liked Android because it wasn't too slow, but the auto-corrections killed me. I'm still not fully used to the Samsung Keyboard because its prediction software pales in comparison to iPhone's (yes, I do admit that I LOVED the iPhone prediction software), but with a customizable dictionary, everything seems to work fine.

its a shame that most people wont discover it if they buy the Captivate since its not enabled by default. (On the Samsung Vibrant, it is enabled by default)
 
I've been using Swype since I got the phone. Now that I'm pretty used to it, I think it'd be hard to go back to a regular keyboard.

Settings > Locale and Text > Samsung Keypad Settings > Enable XT9 Predictive text

(After you enable it, there are more settings that become available directly below it, "XT9 advanced settings", you might want to check out what's in there)

Hope that's what you're looking for...

Switched from Samsung to Android. Tried swype, but I find i'm faster just typing it. Love the mic button on the Android keyboard as well.

Were do I download road sms. I cant find samsung apps
 
Definitely the Swype. I'm coming from a BB 900 Bold so I was worried about going back to non physical keyboards since the iPhone but it is so fast and easy. People told me there was a learning curve but it didn't take me more than 5 minutes to get used to it. Feel bad for Swiftkey because I downloaded it but haven't even tried it once.
 
I love the swype keyboard. I didn't realize how much until I had to test something on an older ipod touch with a standard keypad.
 
Anyone not using swype is wasting his time. Anyone who won't switch to virtual keyboards because they think physical ones are faster need to check out swype.
