Personal Preference: Which keypad do you use? (Android, Samsung, or Swype?)

Swype is without a doubt where its at. When I fist saw it demonstrated it looked kind of gimmicky but it is really a slick interface. Playing with it on my phone convinced my wife to return her new Dingleberry Bold and grab a Captivate.
 
Swype here. It has a short learning curve, but the more you use it, the better you get.

Go through the tutorial - it helps. I feel like texting has become more fun with Swype, as it's sort of a game in itself to link the letters into words.
 
I've been using swype since the 2nd day I got it. It has its quirks, but it works for most common texting so I'll be sticking with it for that. I just hate inputting symbols..
 
I wish I could use a different keyboard in landscape (swift or android) and portrait (swype) modes. :(
 
I tried to use the swype keyboard but I just personally could not get used to it. I had to go back to the android keyboard. I am just glad that we have the three choices.

Ditto...I liked the Android keyboard the best...
 
I'm currently using Smart Keyboard. I sure do miss the stock Android keyboard though. When I flashed to the I9000 firmware, I lost it.

Anyone have a link w/ instructions to download and install the stock Android keyboard? It would be much appreciated!
 
I didn't know Swype was so prominent!

Anyway I stick to the old traditional keyboard, I've tried a few but the HTC (which I'm dying to try) port and the Droid X port.

For some reason the HTC port is always force closing on me before I can even use it.

I'm about to try the Droid X one.

From the ones I've used, this is how I rank them to my liking:

> TouchPal
> Better Keyboard
> SwiftKey
> Android (would be a spot higher but for some reason it's very prone to lagging for me)
> Samsung

Anyone else have trouble trying to get the HTC keyboard to work? If it does, could you be so kind to link me to the .apk file you used? The one I tried installs fine, then force closes each time I choose to use it.

I'm loving the Droid X keyboard!!!
 
Starting out, I switched between the Samsung and Android keyboards. Both were pretty fast, but I loved the XT9 system on Samsung. For a while, I tried Swype, but I just couldn't do it. It wasn't meant for me, though I believe the concept is pretty good. I tried the Droid X port and it was nice, but I still didn't feel comfortable typing on it. I currently have the HTC IME and the Swiftkey keyboards on hand. My preference order is:

Swiftkey
HTC IME
Samsung Keyboard

Samsung would be a tie with HTC IME because of multitouch, but it lags and I have an issue with how it deals with punctuations on its layout.

If you liked SwiftKey i would really recommend you try the TouchPal
 
Swype for me, and I don't see myself changing any time soon. I'd really like to see voice-to-text implemented as soon as possible.
 
I s using the stock android keyboard for a while then swiftly beta. I have now settled on the Samsung keyboard. Its multitouch enabled which makes typing a lot easier than the others. I never got into swype.

And for those times when I feel like writing in Spanish?

Swype.

Which brings me to a point... there should be a faster, easier way to switch languages on the fly.
 
Android but I move over to swype every few days. Dunno why other than its cool and I am getting faster with it.
