Phandroid and Androidforums.com's New Look!

Theme request -

Is there a main background? Or do i have an add blocker or something amiss? A bit too white for me

I find it too bright. Won't save much battery with AMOLED screens.

Like others have said... can there be an option for a darker background. Even with my laptop screen dimmed, it's still too bright. Larger font size would be appreciated as well. Don't mean to nitpick but the brightness is hard on the eyes. Just reading these two pages and I'm needing a break. Thanks, for considering the input.

I agree, for night viewing, S/AMOLED(+) screens, or just because, an alternate dark theme would be nice for a lot of folks.

Another enhancement request on the buttons -

When multi-quoting, the tint change on the button is barely readable.

Can has color change, plz?

(I recall multi-quotes discussed earlier, apologies if this is a repeat.)

~~~~~~~~~
And if you really want to go downtown, make the multiquotes turn into numbers, showing the quote order - but that is really low-order and out there. Definitely last on the list, so more a "nice-if" - below "bug" "enhancement needed" and "enhancement desired" or whatever the ranking system is.
Just logged on for the first time since the change. Not read others' comments, nor tested in detail. First impression is positive though - light, bright, open. Will let you know later if I find useability problems, but general look and feel is nice.
Whether blue + green works better than say two-tone blue, I've not yet made my mind up on. Makes strong contrasts between different elements, but are they too strong?
I think after viewing for a while that I would like the outside edges some darker color myself. Even the original blue that they were before. I love everything else though.
Yup, I like both the new format and the "Like" system. The Like system needs to be differentiated from the thanks IMHO.
I think an darker background "skin" would be nice for some folks, me included. ;)
Also when I hover over the phone tab in the navigation bar, the "Like" count is overlayed on the popup. It's a white bar across the whole image. I'd post a screenshot, but for some reason my feeble mind isn't capable of such sorcery this evening. :mad:
I'd also prefer a darker theme (or at least the option of it). My eyesight is pretty bad and the brightness is making me strain and giving me a headache :(.
I like everything else though. :)
I just experienced something odd where I was inactive for a bit and so I got singed out, but when I signed back in it singed me back out again and then I tried again and the same thing happened.
Thanks and like are basically the same thing, except one keeps a tab at the top of the thread highlighting the top clicked. Which is useful.
I fail to understand why one might choose "thanks" instead!
To me, ""Like" means you like the subject matter or the individual post, whereas "Thanks" is an indication of merit for the individual... two entirely different things. If anything should go away, it should be "Like" IMHO.
The Forward/Reply buttons in a Private Message are not skinned correctly.
Haven't read too far past the first page, so I'm just going to say how much I like (love!) the new look :).
Not only does it look nice, but it looks and feels faster...I think the clean look that it conveys, whether real or imagined, lends to this.
Wonderful job and thanks!
:)
I think it's great, but here are a couple things (some of which have been said already):
  1. I dislike the black bar at the top. (It's not so bad: I can hide it by modifying the CSS, PM me if you want to know how. ;))
  2. Get rid of the like system. Or at least, remove the "Thanks" system and place the "Like" button right where the "Thanks" button currently is. "Like" is confusing because of Facebook integration on so many websites, so rename it "Thanks". :p
  3. Don't use pixels for font sizes, use em (or another relative unit) for accessibility reasons. (The default is 16px = 1em).
  4. Get rid of the "new" smiley faces. What's the point of getting a new design if we have crappy pictures everywhere? Even better: remove the original ones and design your own set.
  5. Don't use the "web 2.0" buttons suggested before. They're horrible. :p
  6. I don't mind the white background much, but a darker alternative would be nice. I prefer it darker.
  7. Report button might need a little boost in size (and "report" on it).
  8. Updated mod buttons. Please?
  9. A delay before the pop-ups from the blue ribbon appear (HOME, CARRIER, PHONES, ...)
I do like thread links turning green on mouse-over. Overall, I like the change, which is quite unusual coming from me. ;)
EDIT: Here's what the website looks for me after I modified the CSS. You can PM me and I'll send you the few lines of CSS that will work with the Chrome extension I am using (on a PC). I blurred out a couple things.
thanks for all the hard work, change always takes getting used to , the green really stands out (i try to remain positive) but you could color this forum baby crap yellow and i would come, its the content that keeps me here!! Thanks again for all you do!
I agree with this also, at least the option of a darker color that would be easier on the eyes.
What (he) said.
I'm sure if everybody gets their wish - the site would end up back to its original state. And we don't want that -- do we? Obviously, there are things that need to be tweak, adjusted, and change. Hopefully when things get done, we won't end up with the same old look we had before.
★Below is a list of my likes(✔) and dislikes(✘) ★
● Enhancement to the site. ✔
● The blue and green color. ✔
● The bright white background. ✘
● New buttons. ✔ Shape of buttons (square). ✘ I think they could look much better. ✔
● Removal of the share button. ✔
● Spaces on both sides of page. ✘
I'm sure there are many other members who have their "likes and dislikes" as well.
WAY too bright :( Can we get a darker theme (at least for the edges) as an option??
Also, quite a few buttons (edit, quote, multi-quote...) appear to be blurry and not crisp/clear like one would hope.
Looks clean, slick and simple. Two thumbs up. Great job guys!!! Still my favorite site and forum. Great people in this community, love everything about it. Keep the wonderful job.
Text is pretty small in chrome, as I have poor eyesight this is a problem for me. The site loading speed seems ok. As mentioned, it woulld be nice to be able to change the theme to something with a little less glare. Overall, I Like the snappier look.
