Root Problem

did a search found lots of bootloop problems but nothing that really fit here. I think if you are able to get into recovery you may want to flash a new ROM. Not sure if you could flash another recovery to get you out of the loop or not.

Has your phone ran hot lately? this could have caused this issue. As far as an SBC I dont know guess its possible.

Sorry I wasn't able to find anything more useful.

My wife's old pc used to have a prob where it came up to some screen or other and just sat there.

I called for help and they had me unplug the pc from power and then push the power button on for at least a minute. Capacitors in the electronics can hold a charge and doing this can let them drain. Circuits can be set and latched and need to be reset. I think draining the caps drops voltage levels to where they can be reset. Just removing power, battery, doesn't do this.

it will only take a few minutes to try anyway, be a miracle if it works but give it a shot?

damn!!!!!

well hopefully either the 4.24 or 4.53 stock rom/recoveries will work.

Tried the 4.53 stock, it updated as normal in hboot, changed my hboot to 2.16 then I tried to reboot, same thing:(

no worries. hope it works. keep us posted.

Thanks for the links:)

Yea, no recovery at all, I can flash the stock rom via hboot, both froyo and GB and still an endless bootloop.

As far as the sbc kernel is concerned, not sure myself

Nope nothing:(

So after doing a few different things, no dice. I believe the phone is fried. Not sure what the cause was but, me personally, I will never flash a sbc kernel again. It may not have been the cause of the phone getting fried but I have no other idea what happened.

Oh well, I will be flashing a stock sense rom on my old Hero and going to activate that today.

Thanks everyone for your help, I will probably be around every once in a while since my wife has MikG running on her phone.:)

that is messed up. Glad you at least have a phone to go to.

Hope you are around, need you to still help bail us out over here.

interesting that you were able to change the hboot but yet you still having bootloops. and i'm not too sure that it is because of the sbc kernel, but who knows at this point. sorry we couldn't get your phone up and running.

Could it be a radio issue instead of a rom issue? Maybe your radio got corrupt. It seems to me if it was a SBC Kernel then you wouldn't even be able to get to boot if it screwed someting up. Even if it does then its a memory issue. Are you able to go into amon ra and wipe everything? just start at the top and work your way down the list?

not quite sure if it is the result of the sbc kernel. i have my doubts about it. it could possibly be the radios, but really it is hard to say at this point.
From my understanding he can't even get to recovery
yep no recovery. only wish it was that easy.

sorry andy:(

Hey Andy, I just realized you were having problems.
Were you by chance using or flashing a cm7 based Rom?
I have heard of folks getting into this bootloop situation with cm7 before. I'll try and find a link on xda I read a while back. Apparently this happens to a very select few when messing with cm7. The only way I've seen to fix is obviously get a new piece, or it had some kind of process to wipe the nv and radios, then reflash em, or something along those lines. Let me see if I can find something.

Edit:
Andy I can't for the life of me find that post. It showed the same exact symptoms you're having, and this guy had a fix that everyone was saying would brick your phone. He was getting flamed like nasty hardcore for even posting it. The guy swore up and down it would work, I just can't find it. :(

Try this
[q] help! Evo stuck in boot loop :'( - xda-developers

and this
xda-developers - View Single Post - [q] help! Evo stuck in boot loop :'(

Thanks guys, that is the guy who posted the original method I read a while back. Those aren't the original thread I read though, seems this method doesn't help the cm7 bootloop. :(

At this point Andy it might not hurt to try it. If it bricks your phone, at least hboot won't show S-off. I'm sorry my friend, I just can't find that post.

Wait, I'll do a search of cutthroats posts, it should be in there somewhere. If you can wait I'll look after I get home from work tonight.

Thank you to all giving help and guidance to me. I really appreciate it:D:D:D

Just to give you guys an update, I needed a phone and fortunately I still had the Hero. As it's still rooted, I loaded a stock sense rom to take it in and get activated. Fortunately free to activate:D

Well, I go to same Sprint store all the time here in Columbus, check out new products, phones..... and I've become a regular there. But I usually only deal with one person. He recently was able to get and test the Photon before it was released to the public. He had an Evo before so I asked him about it. He was trying to sell it and asked if I knew anyone who wanted an Evo, to let him know.

Well, I am going to buy his Evo this morning, so hopefully you guys don't mind staying around these parts. I'm sure I'll have it rooted later this evening and be back on the flashing train, so...........:D:D:p

So, again, thank you to all with your input. That's why I like this community, people helping people, friends helping friends:)
