I would like to compare screen sizes but am having a problem not knowing the width measurement.

The 5.5 inch dimension is diagonal, as it is with all screens. I'm no math whiz, but I believe the Note 2 aspect ratio is 16:9, which would put screen size at 4.8 x 2.69... works out to 5.5 diagonal.
 
Thanks for the quick answer but i believe that is the "total" dimensions of the phone and not just the screen???????????

I was awful at figuring out "unknowns" in math, but based on hovercraftdriver25's values, if we plug those in, they match up pretty darn close (btw, I'd love a brief explanation of how you got the unknown values, as a refresher.):

Formula = Pythagorean Theorem (a^2+b^2=c^2)
c^2=30.25 (e.g. c=5.5)
a^2=unknown (plug in 4.8 as "a")
b^2=unknown (plug in 2.69 as "b")

I said I was no math whiz, lol...used the 5.5 screen size and 16:9 ratio and an online screen size calculator...used your formula to verify though, did remember that much :D

What's interesting is, Tuesdays aren't a typical release day for Sprint, but all things are pointing towards the Note 2 being available either immediately after the event on the 24th or 1 week later.

For Sprint, their "typical" days for release are Fridays or Sundays. With superphones, I've seen pre-orders start on a Wednesday with a "guarantee" of delivery on the day of release. So, for those of you that are trying to pinpoint the "likely" Sprint release dates, I'd say 10/26, 10/28, 11/2, & 11/4 are all fair game. Anything later than that would be really puzzling (unless, of course, there's a delay on it due to court injunction like there was with the LTEvo and SGS 3).

I will say that I'd love for the "official" pre-orders to start on the 24th, for early release (pre-orders only) on my birthday (10/26)! That'd be amazing timing, for me.

I thought typical release dates for sprint were on sunday. I know VZ has a hardon for thursday releases, so I would say Nov. for them. I seriously doubt they would drop it next day.

You're correct. Typical release dates are on Sunday, for Sprint...but, there have been exceptions for their "top" phones.

LTEvo had an odd initial release date (5/15-Tuesday), but it got delayed due to the Apple injunction, so people started "officially" receiving their pre-orders on another "odd" day (5/24-Thursday) and the general release was on another "odd" day (6/2 - Saturday).

SGS 3 was scheduled for another odd release day (6/21-Thursday), but got delayed due to Apple injunction and had the "official" release day on a typical Sprint release day (7/1-Sunday).

So, it really all depends on how big Sprint sees the Note 2 sales being. Considering they already had a press release well before the phone was going to be available, I'd say they think highly of how well it will do and would benefit from an "early" pre-order release, with a general release on a Sunday.
 
Makes sense. I never really followed Sprint, but I just remember many of their release dates being Sundays. The sooner the better. Hell, let the enthusiasts get an early crack at it for their loyalty!
 
I once read that the s3 had a camera feature that lets you scan docs and converts it into text.does the note 2 have that too?
 
I just want to know if Sprint doesnt make good on their promise of improved data speeds and lte in my area can I take the phone to another carrier?

Nope, your phone is tied to Sprint. Although I have heard that Cricket wireless can do some finagling to get a Sprint phone to work. A couple of my sons friends have asked me if I'd give them my old phones.

S Beam is essentially Android Beam on any other NFC device. I have used it on my Nexus and it's pretty cool. I have transferred contact cards and things with other Nexus devices and my friends S3.

As for reliable, it works every time. Haven't had any issues.

I see, so that'll work across any android device with nfc? Is it faster than Bump... I mean, is that what makes it more reliable than bump?

Enhanced stock based dev rooms typically still had it

I would expect the same

If I were rich I'd be willing to bet on how many people will STILL root THEN complain about the lost s-pen functionality. If one is willing to loose that function they'd be better off with the SG3.

OK I thought I had read somewhere that the Sprint version would have multiple bands that you could use on different carriers. Oh well

Interesting. You might want to research this some more just to be sure. Have you called Sprint?.....scary I know; but give them a shout. You may actually get someone who knows what they're talking about. It might take 20 calls though. :p
