Questions you would like answered.

No I'm not Mr Ed, but if they did on the S3 I can't see them giving the Note 2 the benefit of the doubt. They will probably just sell an unlocked one on Samsung.com just as they are w/ the S3.

Verizon’s Galaxy Note 2 To Have a Locked Bootloader? We’re Not Surprised
Added: this article just posted :

How does one know that the phones being sold on samsung.com would be unlocked? I went on their site just now to look at the SG3(just for a comparison sake), and didn't see anything about it.

I've got the Grandfathered unlimited data plan with verizon, so I will have to pay full price for this phone(but I will get it to replace my HTC Rezound). Just would hate to deal with that locked bootloader... :/

It was announced a couple weeks after the S3 launch that the unlocked bootloader Verizon edition S3 was only being sold there. Never really looked into b/c I already had mine.

Found this article from July 10th as confirmation: http://m.cnet.com/news/new-verizon-samsung-galaxy-s3-has-unlocking-bootloader/57469880?ds=1

Someone posted the Odin tar on xda for the Verizon Note 2 on Tuesday here.

If someone knows anything about these, you can see if there is a locked BL or not.

You can put it in your cart and apparently pre-order now. It's showing back ordered though. That is progress though as I do not believe the BUY button was there last time I visited the page. Hopefully the Note 2 is offered this way also. I would rather do this than use some unapproved hack variety unlocking regime that gets found and I have grandfathered unlimited so will be paying full price from now on out anyhow.

Coming Soon! Samsung Galaxy S

Is that a sign that Sprint's version is likely for October?...Oh man, now I'm debating if I just bite the bullet and pre-order this beast or still hold out to see what the Eclipse looks like.

Only thing I'm scared of is, what if for some miraculous reason, Sprint does decide to bring over the Asus Padfone 2! That's being announced mid-October...ugh, decisions, decisions.

In the article it says "holiday season" :(

Just read the article.

Holiday season could still be, Halloween, Thanksgiving, so don't assume the worst.

And there were other articles saying Fall, so that rules out December.

I just want the Eclipse to release first because I wouldn't pre-order that.

I was hoping to see release first week in oct so I can buy it while I am in Vegas lol

Lol...i feel ya. I wouldn't have any problems with an October release, if I weren't still slightly curious about the eclipse...and even the padfone 2, even though logic tells me the padfone 2 will never be sold through a us provider.

I posted in the other thread that if Oct it would probably be Oct 21, if Nov it would probably be Nov 11.

Of course, Mr Ed has final say lol

TS

Ts, why those particular dates?

Any ideas what the notification led will be like? Hopefully like the gnex. This red yellow green sh*t don't cut it when you're colorblind.

I'm 99% sure I will sell my Evo LTE and take my upgrade with this bad boy. The innovation and features are blowing me away. My only quip about it is that it is getting last years A9 Exynos, but quad. Why not a new chip? I don't understand it.

Oh well, its as close to perfect as a phone can get right now. NO PENTILE!!!! Who hoo!

It doesn't say "Sprint" anywhere on that device. Is this really Sprint's version and not the international one? I can't imagine that they wouldn't put "Sprint" on the phone...

ETA: It is Sprint's version, but I know they are gonna put their identifier somewhere...HA!

Did they stamp the back cover for the sprint version of the sgs3? I'd imagine they'll mimic what they did for that phone.

Isn't thatthe titanium grey? I wouldn't have minded if they kept the dark blue. Oh well, I'll likely be buying a custom skin anyway.

Yes..to your grey question. The S3 pictured is in the Pebble Blue which is what I have now, really a cool color. I was soo hoping they would have the Note 2 in Pebble Blue, but the grey looks neat too. You really have to see the Pebble Blue in person to appreciate it, I'm hoping the grey Note 2 is the same way.:D

For the most part all carriers US carriers had some type of branding. At the top Sprint, T-Mobile, etc. etc. And at the bottom Galaxy S III. Here is the Verizon version which is what I have. Once available I am going to pickup a non Verizon back cover for the Note 2 just as I did for my S3. The one I have now just says Samsung on the back.
