Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

I never like talking on the phone when I drove until I got my new truck. It connects to my phone via blue tooth and uses voice commands. I press a button on the steering wheel to answer the phone or open my contacts. If I am calling out, I just say "Call xxxxx" and it dials. I never put much value on having a bluetooth enables stereo until I had one. Now I won't live without it.

Better than the alternative. Case in point:

The way Apple users call my Galaxy S4 an "iPhone."

Not exactly a rant, but it would take three hours to say everything negative I have to say about Apple, from the time of the Apple IIGS, onward.

I really wanted to like apple. But they lost me when they started sucking and simply living in denial about it.

Trying fruitlessly to get into your hotel room with the wrong card.

#FirstWorldProblems.
"iPhone" = genericised trademark referring to very much any smart-phone.
"iPad" = generaricised trademark referring to very much any tablet computer.
"iPod" = generi......

People who confuse your, you're, their, there, they're, then, than, farther, further, e.g. and i.e.

People who say I could care less when they don't care about something.

People who think atheism is a religion.

Those stupid commercials with pictures of abused animals.

When I buy beer and show my ID and go back the next day and the person that sold it to me the day before asks to see my ID.

When you rigorously have to keep informing others about your limitations due to your disabilities and they still either play dumb, are clueless, and or simply ignore what your limitations are.

When individuals disrespect you based upon your disabilities.

What, are you so special that the cashier should remember you over the other 500 people they served yesterday?

Feel lucky that you look young enough that you have to be carded in the first place.

@mikedt:

Yeah I get that.

I just find Apple disgusting and I wish people weren't using "iPhone" as the generic term.

Much like Puffs probably hates that people call their greatly superior product, "Kleenex. " Kleenex isn't even half as good.

Former cashier here, can verify.

I got busted for selling cigarettes to a minor because I could have sworn I had seen and carded her before. Turned out it was a sting by the utah bureau of health.

I once had a guy come around the counter and threaten to kill me for asking his GF for ID.

So basically, you start to not give a sheep's anus whether or not you may have already carded somebody.

I'm not special and I don't care why they do it. It pisses me off, regardless of their reason.

Target cards everyone regardless of age. I've been in there with my mom who is in her 60s and they card her. Beyond that, they enter your birth date into the computer. I find that an invasion of privacy. Have stopped buying alcohol at target. And after their IT department disregarded security risk which enabled hackers to get 70 million people's credit card info, have shopped there much less frequently and only with cash, which limits my purchases.

Our policy was to only card people if they looked under 30 and we didn't already know their age. It's not a huge inconvenience, get over it.

As far as entering the birthdate, our computer had the function, but I always just entered my birthday, as long as I saw that they were old enough.

Its a minor inconvenience to have to drive back home to get your ID so you can drink? Or did you just assume I carry a wallet because everyone else does? Only thing I keep in my pockets is cash and my phone, anything else is too much. I don't know why I have to explain this, or why so many people feel the need to tell me how I should feel about it.

Basically this thread is, in my utterly humble opinion, to get some of our chest. No one is asked to convince another to see it in any other perspective, or to object. You can come here to rant about your thruth, without any discussion or arguments. Just to vent what you weren't adrem enough to respond in the real life situation.

Ricers. "Truckers" (the guys with the lowered trucks that think they go fast). And people who own domestic cars and rub it in your face. I hate these people.

I think foreign cars are much more reliable than domestic. The one and only American car I ever bought (and I didn't want to) had a steering wheel shake problem (very scary) 2 years after I bought it. It was a known issue and recall problem in the previous year's model but Chrysler refused to fix it for me. I traded it in at a ripoff value because I just wanted out of the car. No more American cars ever!

At one point - foreign cars were much more fun than domestic. Look at British Leyland. MG, Triumph. I had a Spitfire and could outcorner any muscle car back then. Now I'd have trouble buying any new car since I don't like the extras. I drive stick and don't like auto, don't like air conditioning and electric windows.

I've had one American truck (S-10) that should have been recalled for a carb problem. The carb would shift somehow where it was mounted and the truck would stall. It had power assist brakes and on hills, that was a no-no. No real fix but install another carb. The Datsun I had and the Toyota I have now have been far more reliable.

What do you mean by Ricers? Japanese bikes or crotch rockets in general? We had a Kawasaki 1500 Nomad. Preferred it. I hate the Harley mystique and wouldn't ride on one.

BTW - my truck is a 4WD 4cyl. single cab sport truck. It handles very well. It will keep up with highway traffic. I don't care about how fast it goes in a straight line. How it corners interests me more.

Ugh ... my cousins are really grinding my gears lately. It's bad enough that they send me an invitation to their kids' graduation party a week *AFTER* the r.s.v.p. is requested, but they schedule it for the same day as my son's fiancee's bridal shower (to which they were invited and are obviously not attending.) I'd love to know what I did, didn't do, or inherited from a past life that has made me a second-class citizen in their eyes.

TBH, the only foreign car I've owned, built by Toyota, was an utter pile of garbage that never worked right.

Loving my Ford now.

My rant for today is TMJ. Not a fan.

Ricers generally refer to Japanese cars. Some people mean all japanese vehicles, while I prefer to limit it to a certain stereotype....you know, the kid in your neighborhood who has a Civic with stickers, a pointless spoiler, a loud(and utterly useless for the application) exhaust that races around like he's Paul Walker.
