Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

Dirt is our friend, friends! We grow our food in it. Bacteria exist inside and all over us, helping us to digest food and remain healthy and happy.

Yes, there are a few microbes out there that are not good for us, but if we maintain a healthy biome of beneficial germs in and around us, the bad ones don't have much of a chance of hurting us.

Germicidal soaps, overuse of antibiotics, and such are what breeds so-called 'super-bugs' which are making more and more people sick.

Be not afraid! Eat that cheese, yoghurt, and sauerkraut. Follow the 30-second rule with pride. Live healthy.

Well, I've done it now. The LG F3 (LG720) phone is frozen in the LG screen logo, due to my inadvertent system upgrade, which had been hounding the phone's screen for a couple of weeks. It's the only phone we have. I am desperate to find answers; I've been PM'd by people in the know, and I still don't see how I can unbrick a 'soft-bricked' phone without a working USB connection, and a working recovery program - which the phone doesn't have, because my fiancee made it very clear to me not to screw this phone up by adding anything other than Saferoot. My rant is toward myself; I was a confident Android flasher back in the days of Gingerbread... however, as the operating system gets more modern and more developed, it becomes just like an iPhone. If there's anyone out there who can walk me through the process, you can PM me here. Desperately, LW

Being too poor to qualify for certain types of help. That is worse than frustrating, it seriously destroys your feelings of self worth.

I had Sprint for YEARS & switched to Verizon 6 months ago. With Sprint I had unlimited everything for about $80 a month, but had tons of dropped calls & no data service in some places where others had it, so I finally decided it was time to switch.

My service has been good with Verizon but I HATE them. I'm limited to 2GB of data a month or else will pay overages (I'm 3 days away from my end of billing cycle & close to going over this month, because I watched 2 Netflix movies when my power was out, so no wifi). About a month after signing with Verizon, I heard there was a "secret" plan where you could get 2GB a month for $60 instead of $75. I've tried a few times to get on that plan, but can't get it (there are limitations which I don't actually meet, but my daughter-in-law doesn't either & was able to).

A couple weeks ago I went on the Verizon web site to see if there were any other plans that would be better for me, a rep started an online chat with me but they apparently can't do much except to tell you to call Customer Service - so that was a waste of time.

Last night I stopped in an actual Verizon store (not a reseller) to ask if there are any other plans that would be better for me, & the very unfriendly  lady I talked to looked up my account & then insisted I've gone over my 2GB limit a few times already (I haven't) & that I should change to a higher priced plan. When I also asked if it was possible to change my billing cycle date so I won't go over this month, she said I have to call Customer Service if I want to change that. If I have to call Cust. Svc. for everything, why do they have stores?

I like the fact that I actually have service, but I already hate Verizon more than I used to hate Sprint, & I've only been with them for 6 months now. :(

That attitude was why I left 7 years ago. Just paid the ETF on one phone and ported the others. TMO might not have the coverage, but the service has been much better.
I've had a couple of European phones that they helped get on their network, rooted phones, and mostly phones I don't buy from them. They put a PAYG flip phone on the family plan. That's what the Vulcan wanted, and that's what he got.

I won't defend VZW as I have plenty of gripes with them myself. I will speak highly of calling customer service as opposed to getting help in a store. The CS on the phone has always been friendly, professional, and I have usually been satisfied with the resolution. The stores, not so much. I won't step foot in one.

They did the same to my boyfriend he actually upped his data plan and now for one line pays 160 a mth! That to me is crazy! He has been trying to drop his plan as well but they tell him he's always getting close to his data limit. He's actually looking into switching! 160 for one person is just too much!

Good to know, I guess I'll do that from now on if I have any questions or issues. When I had Sprint (not that they're better, just that my experience with them was better) they were always able to help me if I stopped in a store with a question or needed something. I didn't have a lot of issues, but if I did I was never told I had to call CS to get help, although it's possible they do that in some situations too.

Make sure he's monitoring his own usage online. I was shocked when she showed me her screen that showed I'd gone over a few of the months I've been with them, because that's just flat out WRONG information. I don't know if that's their sneaky way of fooling people who don't know any better, to increase their plans? I've been paying a lot of attention to how much I use so I knew she & her screen were wrong - but if that's their normal business model - lying to customers to get them to increase their plan... that's SO not cool.

Yea he has never really just paid attention. Smh but I have been getting on him to start. So we have been trying to watch it and see if that is something he can lower. 160 is just too high

Cellcos might be doing data like voice. They always rounded up to the closest minute before connection and the last minute after.

Wireless Industry Defends Billing Practices

If data is handled this way, your usage and theirs won't jive unless you use the same method.

True, but I look up my account on their website so I'm seeing exactly what I'm being billed for. I haven't gone over my 2gb yet, not even close, until this month - and that's only because my power was out & I watched 2 movies on Netflix over mobile data.

I just got home from vacation .. Traffic sucks.. I'm kind of freaking out cuz the guy who was here babysitting my pets let cats out this morning and I'm calling them but they are not coming I have a cat door so I'm not even sure how long they have been outside today but I think the stupid movie people may have spooked Oliver when they dropped there stupid set into the pool last night and maybe he's scared to come back .. Malcolm isn't afraid of anything tho so maybe I'm just over reacting and as hubby says I'm sure they are just doing there usual neighborhood visitation rounds and will be home at dusk like every other normal day... But...... The stupid movie people are coming to film in about an hour .. And they will be here all stupid night:/ so I'm a little worried now
Ugh.... I'm hissy I know ... But I can't help it!!!:/ hubby says be nice and I'll try .. But
Ugh
I told them they can set up hair and make up in my garage
I figure that's nice enough:p
I'll take some pics of the shoot
But my plan is to sit here on my front porch with a six pack and not budge till Oliver and Malcolm show up
And I told the director not to park in front so they can see I'm here
Long rant I know
My apologies:)

Stupid stupid everything:(

And now it's raining and against my better hissssment I said they could come in.. So now I have like 20 plus movie people all up in my house and more and more keep pulling up
still no Oliver either.. Really??? Really ?????

Yeah!! Oliver is home:)
Ok here is a bad pic of the shoot :p

Glad he's back.

I can go just as worried if I can't find the Meez in the house. Since she's a Meez, she's liable to be anywhere, because she can. She doesn't come when she's called, either.

We've missed her sitting on top of a bi-fold closet door!

Reactions: huh
Yes they both came home:) Thank you for asking
I wasn't that worried about Malcolm because he is such a social butterfly and fears nothing..the entire neighborhood adopted him about a week after we moved in..everybody knows who he is ...in fact I met a man when I was on a walk about 2 months ago ..he was out for a run but stopped me to introduce himself saying "OH..you're Malcolm's Mom..I wanted to say hello!" haha! he also has occasional sleepovers at my neighbors house a few doors down..( with my permission)he is a widower who recently lost his wife who was allergic to cats..but has always wanted one.so now he says he has the best of both worlds..an awesome cat who he doesn't have to scoop the litter box! although he does keep treats and a couple of cans of Malcolm's fav food when they hang out ..he lets Malcolm sleep in his favorite chair during the day sometimes too...

anywho I'm rambling

I wanted to apologize to everyone for being so witchy in my rant thread...:o I'm actually a nice person...I was just having a day and venting...( why yes...there is more to the misery day too! but I won't go into it...now:rolleyes:)I really wouldn't be mean to anyone on purpose honest...OH! and the shoot turned out pretty cool...poor things didn't finish till about 8 this morning! talk about water logged!

Migraines... I can barely function.

On a lighter note, my laptop is fixed and shipping. I may see it on Saturday, but more likely Monday.

Here's something funny that happened at work today...

My coworker called the manager to know when is the next time he is working. Of course because we don't email schedules we tell them the first day that they work next.

So he works on Friday. Manager says bye. He calls back and ask the manager to tell him every day of the week that he is working. The schedule for the whole week. Manage says she's busy and says she can't do that. Says bye.

My coworker has his mom call up the manager to complain to her that she needs to tell him every day he's working this week when she already told him one day that he will come in and he can check it himself.

He has his mom call. What a child. Grow up and don't have you're mom win your battles for you.

So we were all just laughing at the kid.

Dammit, Toshiba! What the hell did you do to my laptop?

... okay, in their defense, it is just as likely Windows playing games because it wants to update-- even though I have other operating systems installed, it still insists it 'owns' the computer and may be locking me out until I let it do all its updates.

Hopefully that one screwy update isn't about to break things even further.

Still... I'm going to blame Toshiba anyway. :p
