Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

The last few 'AI Bots' scamming message I had was a year or two ago and it was MMS spam. They showed up as email addresses but equally badly formatted but they were being sent as MMS messages.

LWP might be having a similar issue that Xwidget did. Has your phone gotten Android 12+? When an S20 FE I was playing around with for a year got that, it exhibited similar problems, and that included widgets that no longer updated their info (weather/battery widgets) and no update was released to fix it. Phone also ran quite warm and battery life halved.
Nope still saids 12, current version:S1PB32.41.10-17-3-4 hmmm....

If only our body would move that fast, honestly why not stop and smell the roses for all enterinty? Seriously I think that rest of "plan ahead" it is really doomed for me and probably a few million others.

My theory of why time seems to pass more quickly the older you become: Each day is a fraction of your existence. The longer you exist, the smaller that fraction of the whole becomes.

Out of the blue my windows ten anti-virus is disable, but using dos to see if I can get it back online.. That is what is griding my gears at this moment.

Waiting for the person in front of you at the market while they run back through the store to get a box of xyz while everyone waits.
I understand it's a change of times, but waiting at a checkout while someone writes a check has become annoying. Cash customers counting out their change bugs me too. A couple of decades ago, neither was a big deal.

I am with you on that one Olbriar, why would they need to run back in line to get that something? Seriously remember to have your list at the hand. Please do not hold up the line for us either, either remember that thing when you are at the lanes, or get out of our way.

There is also the person that questions the price or their coupon doesn't work. I'm not in any big hurry but come on man.
Truth there man. Truth there. Also why would you want to put your wallet in your back pocket, why not get one of those layards that has a wallet and band snap, like I do, and wear it around your neck?

Great example of the worst:

In a huge long line at the Petsmart, literally one checkout open out of four (why build four? that's like three jobs you can hire! And everyone complains about not having enough jobs.) and more than 20 minutes in, as I approach the checkout lane finally, they then open the second. Wow. That would have been super convenient like 15 minutes ago! They ALWAYS wait until I'm finally at the counter and open the other one, instead of just opening it before the line is out the door.

This same anomaly also happens at Kroger, Walmart, anywhere. They always open the second lane the instant I've finally waited and arrived at the counter. Heck, why does Walmart build 18 of the damned things and only use 4 of them? That's another 14 jobs they can open! Seems it'd make sense if you build 18 or 4, to use them all!

Our Kmart would always have their 3 open anytime. I miss Kmart so much. It really seems backwards that Walmart somehow is the survivor despite all their ethical issues and employee treatment while the better Kmart dies off.

My local grocery store has their tobacco products in an employee only area. If you are checking out behind someone needing a pack, the checker must go get it for them. Often they return with the wrong brand of short instead of king size or whatever which requires yet another trip for the checker. Meanwhile, everyone waits. Last week this happened with two customers in a row. The guy behind me verbally said F this and walked out leaving his basket full of groceries in the line.

Yeah only been up there, Kmart once ever, was with my family and a friend of mine, who decided to fall out of the world. I guess it was never meant to be a friendship over itself, we did not talk about much these days. Still it was a horrible waste, to see the lanes fully open, at our local Walmart there is ten lanes that are always open, and double in the front and back, like there is a normal set up for a lane, also a reverseable counter that is on the other side, they are always a nice store to shop with.

Yeah same here, a few people always walk out and say that outloud behind my ears as well.

Almost every few screen shots my phone goes into flames, and having my fingerprints feel like they are on fire..
:\ Hopefully soon enough I will get my pixel.. Jeepers had this for almost three solid years, since August eight of 2021..

Walmart here (we got two of 'em) has like a total of 18-20 checkout lanes and six self-checkout lanes. They only open 4-6 of the regular lanes, and only two out of six of the self-checkouts at one time, often even less open at the busiest times. Makes absolutely no sense. Why even close an automated self-checkout? do robots need breaks too?

Best thing about Kmart is that it was small, and stayed the same forever. That was perfect for someone like me. Walmart has gotten so impractically large and has the worst, bright, white clinical design and lighting that going there actually triggers migraines. The closest I get to a Kmart today is one of our vendor malls that has their layout pretty much mirroring Kmart and uses Kmart shopping carts. They even got the 80s-90s music going (sadly without Kmart in-store announcements/jingles, although I did find a collection of Kmart cassettes of their in-store music that I put on at work)

Here's another rant. You can't use paper coupons anymore at stores like Kroger or Target. They have gone digital and need you to use a SMARTPHONE APP.

I'm going to start shopping in Beech Grove, KY from now on. That place is literally going back to the 1960s and none of this modern crap happens there. I swear I was born in the wrong era. I belong in the 50s-60s. Not this dystopian future where you 'will own nothing, and be happy' and have 'digital IDs' and all the camera surveillence.
