Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

Played a gig last weekend. Great attendance, but, parking is a pain, like in most capital cities. I had to move to a parking garage, or risk being towed due to a valet service. What a pain. I drove to what I thought was the correct garage, and I ended up exiting a hotel across the street from my gig. Talk about confused internal GPS. Thank goodness the same security company handled all the nearby garages, or I would've been hit with an exorbitant fee (it was free, but the security guy got bribed by a pizza I was supposed to take home - I hope he liked gluten-free). What really grinds my gears? When parking is free after 5 pm, and you have to move your car because of a valet service that was sponsored by a Lexus car dealer... the Focus is definitely not a Lexus, but, why should my parking rights end where a glorified Toyota's begins? Grrrrr...!

I loved being in my choir(still in high school I am a senior) all 4 years. Then the 4th year I wasn't elected president which I don't understand, I have the most experience and have gone the farthest in auditions and in contests. Now everything has gone to shit, the person that was elected and everyone with her just complain and make it unbearable for me. I don't even want to sing anymore, I've done it for so long, yet its ruined. I have to deal with them every day.
 
Spartan: Life's full of setbacks and disappointments, get used to it/them. The key is how and when you learn to deal with them. Getting mad about them and "pouting" about things accomplishes absolutely nothing. The people who learn to adapt to adverse situations and still try and promote progress are the people who shine and succeed in both their careers and their personal lives.

As for singing, I agree. I was in chorus, choirs, and plays throughout highschool. Had a blast even though back when I was young it wasn't an "in-crowd" thing to do. That morphed into playing keyboards and rhythm guitar as well as being lead singer in a band in the 70s-90's. Had a REAL blast throughout those years... (most of which I remember. :D ) These days I still have my Les Paul and play but only for my own enjoyment. Music though is something that will probably stay with you for life. Don't let petty situations fowl that up. In the grand scheme of things, not being pres is really a nit.

I hate how terrible they make movies on tv by dubbing over all the swears...
first of all, kids are already saying worse things at school..you're not "saving" anyone by filtering out swears...
second of all, how about letting parents be parents and monitor what their kids watch instead of ruining movies for everyone...?
also, why do I now sometimes hear "a##hole" on tv but they're still blurring out the middle finger?? Its a finger for Pete's sake
 
Censors in Singapore used to just chop things they didn't like out of movies - that were shown in theatres - with zero consideration of the affect. I once saw a Hollywood movie with the following scene:

Guy sitting in bar
Cut to two guys walking in
Cut back to original guy who is now - miraculously - riddled with bullets
Cut to two guys walking out

Note: no sign of any gun anywhere in the scene .. well, unless you count the bullets in the body

Bit of dodgy dubbing pales in comparison, IMHO ;)

The ion Network in the USA. The 'a-word' expletive in one of their syndicated hour shows, and their movies - became "jackhole"... While I believe in relevant decorum for television programming while kids are watching - and, yes... it should call for editing and dubbing. Yet, it all comes down to what parents allow their children to experience while watching TV. I fully realize that that the Federal Communications Commission stateside has a job to perform in the interest of the general public; yet, I see kids younger than ten recite lyrics from hip hop that I consider to be offensive. It all starts at home, I suppose. Different strokes for different folks. While I may not be a huge fan of hip hop, I learned a long time ago that one person's trash may be another's treasure; and, as a musician who performed in a cover band many times in my career, I understand what freedom means. I may not like some of the music, but I loathe censorship. Many times my stomach would turn over during performances, because I would witness some of the audience bringing their children to watch a band that performed "Baby Got Back". Oh, well (that's a deep subject). Or not. I hope everyone here is having a nice weekend. I got booked again to play March 14th and 28th. Wish me luck. :-} My lady was moved from the ICU to the physical therapy unit at Vibra Hospital in Thornton, CO. She's recovering. I may be lonely, but I'm much happier. What a road this has been for all of us. Once again, I'm grateful to everyone here who has provided me moral support these last two months.

I have been feeling very unhappy lately... I dont think it is a good idea to ask me.

I feel like taking drugs it is a down rught horrible feeling this - i feel like escaping and tghere is no way out.

I am starting to feel like ending it all again.

I need help.

I sometimes wonder that nobody can help me I am so unhappy.
 
@stinky...as someone diagnosed with clinical depression, I know the feeling well. Please see a doctor. Not one who shrugs you off. I don't understand why people will take drugs for "physical" conditions, but not this...

It is a chemical imbalance in the brain. It is real! I went through 4 different meds until my doctor and I were satisfied. Doing much better, but I CAN'T go off the medicine. It keeps me "balanced".

Please speak to a doctor. For moral support, you can always come here... Or pm... There are people who care.

You can do hiphip without adult lyrics, look at Toby Mac for example.
 
There are no good flashcards apps that meet my requirements. Looks like I'll be using a pen and paper. Sometimes I wonder. Android has over a billion apps in the play store. How many of them are actually that good I should start my own company and build my own apps. But that's a lot of work.
