Root Ready to Jump to my 1st AOSP ROM..but which one?

I don't have 4g in my area so don't care for it at the moment. I'd like everything else working on it though. can you guys recommend a good AOSP ROM? I apologize I have to ask but i never thought i'd flash an AOSP rom and yet here I am . :o
 
yeah tiamat all the way!!! great kernel for a lot people here. you may still have to do the gps fix. it is pretty much the same as cm7 except kings optimizes the rom so that it is very zippy. i just do not like the theming, however. if you want more aosp roms and kernels, checkout my sig ref#2.
 
how do i know what tiamat kernal does what? I see the download link to a bunch of kernals but i have no idea what each one does.

kings GB also is a good aosp rom as well. [KingsROM][ACS] NEW KingsROM Ultra BeatDown GB-R4 [GBKUB]-5/5/11] " BRUTAL " - xda-developers

just make sure that you wipe well.:Despecially going from sense to aosp. use Calkulin's_FORMAT_ALL.zip in addition to wiping.

I have been very happy with CM7. I used to love Sense ROMs but once I got into AOSP it felt more like this is the way its supposed to be. I got very annoyed that Sense would keep restarting after I killed it and Launcher Pro and ADW just didn't seem to get along with the sense rom. You have to tweak a few things but overall I am much happier with AOSP.

MIUI is also a great AOSP rom. It's very fast with the right kernel. It does have the IPhone look and feel but overall performance is very fast
 
+1 to tiamat, and you may actually want to use cm7 if you don't want to do any fixes, it has a couple more built in then King's does. I would try the latest nightly.
 
Thanks guys! I fell in love over night with AOSP. Never thought i'd like it. In fact never even bothered to flash a AOSP rom because i was against it. well I went out and purchased a Nexus S I loved it so much. Thanks for the help guys!

Sorry I have seen your troubles with WiFi lately but have been too busy to address long issues. Anyhow I have seen that error before and I may have a fix. I will get it to you soon I have to modify the script a bit and test it myself...

Anyhow, yeah just flash on for now ;)

Re starting the launcher should bring back the dock bar or a hot boot.

I saw these questions the other day in a diff thread. Again apologies...
