Root [RECOVERY] TWRP 2.8.1.0

I used flashify and it worked perfectly for me. I used to have backup/restore issues with CWM, such as the weird dates. No problems with TWRP at all so far. I've been switching back and forth between stock and CM11 using this recovery, and it's great.

Had to try twice with flashify but that may have been an issue with mediafire. (Second time I used the androidfilehost file) outside of that small issue it works perfectly!

I had tried a few themes that were ported to 960x540 with no problems.

Where do you find your themes? I would love to know.

I've only found one, which I love, but there are a few things that are kind of frustrating about it. I found one that makes TWRP look akin to Android L, and it's beautiful but I can't change the color from orange to anything else. Personally I don't care for orange, but I do like red. Also, I wanted the play edition, not the dark edition, but I don't know how to port the theme.

Cannot stress how awesome this is. I'm totally blown away by the work going on for this device.

Slightly off topic, but the xda threads never get me results. ;P

Installed TWRP, made backups, awesomeness all around. Want to finish up and flash zv5, but I got a little click crazy and deleted my laf.img file that I had backed up. Everything is working in fastboot mode, but I am getting nervous with mentions of no un-brick without the original download mode provided by laf.img.

Does anyone have a copy they can send me, or post here?

Thanks in advance!!

Edit - I found this helpful piece of info in the rooting thread:

bg4m3r:
Use fastboot mode to flash a radio img. That will restore download mode.

Giving it a try now. Thanks! Edit -- And it worked like a charm. D\L mode is back. :)

And finally, the TWRP Volt v2 download here:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/a9575d62p8tngk3/twrpvoltv2_bumped.img

or

https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95897840722647509
for those that have problems with mediafire.

Find something wrong? send me bug reports. Just post em up in this thread. Good ones are dmesg and adb logs.

I've flashed TWRP from your link using Flashify but every time I try to do a backup in TWRP under Select Storage it won't allow me to chose external SD card. It shows: external_SD (0MB). I have a 64gb card with two partitions, one Fat32, the other ext2. Any ideas why I can't access the SD card?

Is there a flashable zip version of TWRP for this phone that can flashed from CWM recovery? I am stuck in a CWM Recovery bootloop and I want to see if TWRP can get me out of it. The only access i have now is ADB through recovery, but I can get a zip file on the external SD card if I can find one that can work!

Thanks in advance!

Can someone give me a step by step quick guide to using Flashify to install TWRP 2.8.1.0 on my rooted Volt? I just want to install TWRP for now no ROMs yet just want to be able to backup for now. Flashify has many options I dont want to brick it. Just give me correct items in Flashify to hit installing TWRP then what to do to run a backup. Thanks

Hey guys, quick question here. I just bought a new volt (v5) and I'm just going to root it, make a backup and then delete bloat. Just wanted to know what would be better to use, this version or the lollipop version of twrp? I'm looking for the more stable version. Thanks

Both versions are stable and if you are staying on stock then either version will work. The only issue with the Lollipop version, is it takes a while to wipe system and cache partitions. If you ever want to try CM12 you will definitely have to use Lollipop version.

Before updating to the newest version, the install screen had the option to install img files as well as zips. Now I've found, most unfortunately, that this option seems to be gone. I think I had the Lollipop version before, now KitKat. Why is this option gone? Having to wipe my phone cause I can't get the stock kernel installed. :/

Hi just rooted my new volt on zv5 with DP Tools, now I got Flashify waiting in the cut for me to find out which recovery to use! Please could someone tell me which one is my best bet, I'd be most appreciative!

TWRP is pretty much the only choice. The lollipop version will work with lollipop and KitKat. Just be aware of what I mentioned in that post you quoted.
