Here's how I got it working with root in 2.2
1. Flash the .SBF to make /system stock
2. use universalandroot found here:
http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-droid-x/151214-app-universalandroot-1-click-root.html
3. moved /system/bin/su to /system/xbin/su
4. reboot into stock recovery
5. apply the update.zip
6. Froyo w/ root![]()
So if I want to run the sbf from 2.2 back to 2.1 what exactly do I have to do?
Wipe data/Factory reset before and after flashing it?
Well I am flashed and good to go! Nice work guys on getting around the Koush bootstap deal. Worked like a charm.

Okay, I am about to try this following the steps above, but I want to make sure of a few things before I start. I only want to do this if I can also be rooted afterwards, otherwise I might as well just wait for the official OTA update. Anyway, here are my questions:
1) I am not currently rooted, so I should not have to do Step 1, right?
2) Rooting seems pretty straight forward. I will make sure not to change anything after rooting.
3) This is the part I am unsure of. Do I have to plug my phone into a PC to do this? I have Astro installed right now, but I am not seeing a "su" folder or file when exploring the /system/bin or /system/xbin folders. I'd prefer to do the move right from the phone because I'm using a Mac.
4) After moving the su to xbin, do I need to do a normal reboot first, or should I just reboot into recovery right away?
Thanks for any help!

For everyone who is successfully running 2.2 - is this vanilla Froyo or does it come with MotoBlur and all the other bloatware?
did anyone just copy and paste su or do we have to move it
wipe before you flash
I just moved it from bin to xbin using root explorer, I don't think you want to just copy it and leave it hanging around.
Does anyone know if they fixed the streaming audio problem in Froyo with this build? Specifically, aps like Mog and Pandora supposedly sound like crap with Froyo because of a change Google made to the media framework. Google has already fixed it, but the fix has to be pushed out and I was wondering if this build has the fix in it?
Here's a link describing the problem:

oops. I used the moved function and I maintained root.
Using Last.FM it sounds just like on 2.1, however it lags/has audio skips when scrolling around screens unlike 2.1. Gonna unload a few widgets and reboot.Does anyone know if they fixed the streaming audio problem in Froyo with this build? yeah you are write cuz I don't have root.
Okay who truly has root
Yes the superuser.apk is installed and when I open it up all the permissions are there
But when I open up any root app it says that no root detected
yep happened to me too, not a major issue though.
