Root [Release] Android 2.2 Froyo for the Droid X

Uh oh, I installed it too and strapped the recovery...haven't rebooted yet though. Shouldn't it delete the files upon one unsuccessful boot and boot back into Android?

Nope  the eye comes ups then the word droid then repeat.

Damn now I have to run get a cable during lunch

I just did, after I got stuck like you I rebooted into recovery and wiped data and cache then booted into bootloader then it worked:)

Booya! Confirmed! Just reboot into recovery holding home button and power, press search key, scroll down to wipe user data, and boom! Back to 2.1

For all those having problems using Koush's recovery method, check out these instructions on Alldroid.com.

I kept getting an error using the instructions in the first post of this thread, but had no problems following the directions on Alldroid.

Hope everyone gets it without issues!!!! This is a great day to own a DroidX!!!!

Sweet. Averaged around 7.5 Mflops on linpack pre 2.2 Now I'm averaging around 14! :D Average quandrant score is 1400!

Also lovin the new Gmail enhancements!

Same boat, I went ahead and uninstalled (prior to rebooting). I rebooted and it went fine. Definitely REMOVE the bootstrapper prior to your first reboot to be safe!

Thank you both, I wiped before I did the sbf, should have tried after as well.....thanks again, can't wait to get rooted and on 2.2

A couple of questions. If this gets hosed and you have to go back to stock 2.1 using sbf, you lose all of your data, right? If I'm backed up with Titanium, shouldn't be too bad to restore?

Bigger Question though - If this isn't the final release, what's going to happen then the final release comes out? Might we have to wipe our devices to get that to work?

I'm dying to do this, but I really don't want to have to go through a device wipe/full reconfig at any point.

It looks like the overclocking does not work now. I reinstalled everything and did the command lines. When it try entering "overclock.sh 1125000 50" I'm getting:

insmod: init_module '/system/lib/modules/overclock.ko' failed (Exec format error)

Mine is looping. It looks like they may have patched the exploit.

I removed Koush's recovery, and used the steps at Alldroid to rename logwrapper.bin to logwrapper.

Rebooted just fine :)

WHEW!

Looks like it needs to be recompiled for 2.2?

Personally, I will not do another leak after what happened with the Eris. Thats just me though. Awesome stuff here guys.

sorry for the noob question and sorry if its been answered already I just couldn't find it: Will we still be able to update to the OTA once its released for the X?

Let it keep going. I've read the reboot can take a while (5-10 minutes).

Wow, I had to swallow hard and follow my own advice. I think I was "stuck" on the Droid Eye for about 15-20 minutes. But it did finally finish doing whatever it was doing and booted into the desktop. But I'll admit it gave me a little scare there......
