There is an app apn back&restore you can use that too to get your apn details. Check out this thread.

As mentioned previously, the Go SMS seemed to fix my problem in terms of forcing pictures through, but I think this thread with changing the APN is has actually fixed the initial problem. I can now send MMS through my stock messenger too! I appreciate both of your help.

The good news is I now have a bit better understanding of a few things, PLUS i have a new messenger app instead of handcent. :)

Sorry I dissappeared, it was 3am at the time and needed some shut eye before work today!
I think there might be a setting option that you need to disable in gosms to prevent the failure message.

i did the tacoroot on my evo a few days ago, but i my mother in law wants it done on hers. i came back to this tutorial and now when i click 'show' i get %1$s instead of directions. i tried FF and Safari and i cannot get the directions. Can someone perhaps copy/paste them to me in a PM, or send me to where i can find the tutorial?

Yeah, that "show" thing is getting worked on. I dont have a copy anywhere, sorry, but the show issue should soon be resolved!
 
I have a htc evo 4g and I followed the directions and got my phone rooted. i even checked with the check root access app. But for some reason I can't flash roms from my sd card.. It says "/Can't open /sdcard/name of file.zp
(bad)"

What does this mean?

could be a bad download. what rom are you trying to flash?
 
I also hear trying to download a rom with your phone instead of downloading to computer, then transferring to sd card could result in a bad download.
Besides, its faster download when done with your computer :)
 
Hello I am just rooting my phone now. The link for the VR Superwipe does not lead to a file. Please let me know where i can download that.


Also... i'm a little bit confused about the recovery. does it matter which of those methods we use??

Hm, you are right cuz I just tried it, however, you really don't need that as it is a script that helps wipe before rom/kernel flashes. I personally wipe 3 times manually and have no issues. There are other wipe scripts available if you would like me to find them but like I said, I don't use them.

It does not matter which recovery install method you use. I've used the PC36IMG and the Android Flasher method both with no issues.

And by the way, we all welcome you here :)

Thank you! Ive been wanting to root my phone for a long time but never did. My texting would lag to the point where i wouldn't even want to use my phone, so i figured its a good time to see if it solves the issue.

I have another question. When saving the custom rom onto my sd card, do i just make a random folder and extract into that folder? Or do i transfer the zip file into that?

When you put the rom on your sd card, it can go into a folder because thru recovery, you can navigate to any folder on an sd card.

btw again, rooting will be the best thing you ever did to your phone.!:D

Thanks! Sorry im a noob, do i copy the .zip folder into the SD card folder... or extract all the files from the .zip into the folder on the sd card?

If you desire to be totally s-off, Either do the HTCDev method, then the Capt method, or, the Taco root method.
If you desire just to unlock your bootloader, the the HTCdev method will suffice.
You will still be s-on but you will be able to still flash roms/kernels etc.
As far as unrevoked or revolutionary, that will be done at the end of using the Capt method to be fully s-off.
I assume you have the 5.something update?
Then just follow the guide in this thread.:D

Thanks, I was going to do it today, but that pesky show button is not working so I might have to wait.

No, really, there is a mac guide somewhere, however I am almost sure that htc sync can be used with mac, but don't quote me

Hey thanks!

Im trying to flash the MikG v3.11 [3/9/2012]... But nothing will install from zip on sd card..

I just tried the whole unlocking process again.. And im still getting the same issue..
