Root [ROM][4.0.4][BETA] CM9 for Virgin Mobile and Sprint 10/3/2013

You know what would SUCK? If the ICS update came out for the Elite the day this finally got the camera working, and all major bugs out. Honestly, I don't know ICS will ever officially happen on the Elite, anyway.

Also, is there a way to get a notification when a new update for this ROM comes out?

Actually it would rock. Because then they'd likely release the 3.X kernel source code and some real awesomeness would happen Lol.

It wouldn't suck, but it will also never happen. VM/Sprint have no intentions of releasing another OTA update to this (in their eyes) outdated phone. This phone has essentially been sent to the grave yard by them.

What is that md5 for? The entire Sprint build ZIP file? If so, the ZIP file you have is not complete. It should be 2858f14742214ed5266663a143c1274c

If that is the md5 of the updater-script file, then I'm sorry, but I can't help. If you posted the contents or a copy of the updater-script file you were trying to use, I would have checked it for you.
Its for the entire sprint build zip file

Never got in as a Dev on goo.im?
No. I just looked at the requirements and it looks like I need this one.

"You are established on RootzWiki, xda-developers, or any other reputable source as a recognized developer"

So does that mean that, we're always stuck with a modified version of the stock kernel, unless they were to release an OTA update?

does anybody have an idea why I get stuck in a boot animation loop?

Did you wipe the trinity? Data, cache and dalvik? Also I know its an extra step but I always mount system prior to a flash, I also format the system partition when moving between GB, ICS and JB.

This is a beta release of CM9 for the Optimus Elite so please don't expect this to be 100% stable. You may get random reboots and lockups or you may not. Before flashing this rom I recommend you make a NAND backup just in case.

Is there some app or some way to get the camera and flashlight apps to work untill its fixed?

Is there some app or some way to get the camera usable untill its fixed?

In short... no. The camera and associated drivers which have to be written from scratch or back ported in order for the stock apk to work or any market camera as well. Oh and FYI you don't have to quote the whole post. It clutters the thread. :)

Bummer...for some reason I had this feeling I would see "[ROM][BETA] CM9 for Virgin Mobile and Sprint 06/03/2013" this evening. The OE is my daily driver and although I want Google Now and other goodies I can't part with my mediocre camera.
phenomx4 - Thanks for all your efforts, I was beginning to wonder if the OE was a lost cause for advanced ROMs until I read everything that you have accomplished. My fingers are crossed and hope you figure out the remaining hurdles! Thanks again for all the time you've devoted to this...

First off, thank you for all your work on this ROM. Its a great upgrade for a phone that likely won't see any additional updates from the factory. My one issue, aside from the camera, is the amount of RAM available, with just the basic apps running. I find most of the time I am dipping into double digits of remaining RAM and it seems to get pretty laggy when opening new applications. (I frequently get that message if I want to wait for the application or force close)

What are you all seeing?

R.

Working on it.

Hello everyone,

I've been reading through this thread and am uncertain whether or not my phone is capable of this CW9 method. I have a Kyocera Rise from Sprint. If it does work for this phone can someone repost the links to the files I need? It says that they will download and never download so when I click the "click here if download does not start automaticall" button and all it does is reboot the page but the download never starts. Thank you

Roms are device specific. You need to look in the Kyocera Rise forum. But tbh I think I've read the boot loaders are locked on your device. Good luck.

The.bootloader is locked so you cant really do anything with it
.
And as he said ROMs are device specific so flashing a incompatible ROMs can really screw up your phone(the updater script might flash it to the wrong partition)

The boot loader is locked. Any mod to /system could end up in a boot loop. And do to the lack of no CWM or TWRP it cannot be fixed.(I have had that phone)
