Root [ROM][4.0.4][BETA] CM9 for Virgin Mobile and Sprint 10/3/2013

Mmm I I thought it was an issue with my music and is anyone else having difficulty making on screen selections
 
i really like this rom. i noticed that the 9/17 build seems to work better for me than the 8/30 build. but there's a few problems i'm having that prevent me from using it full time.

the biggest problem for me is still the radio. i just don't get good reception with this rom. i've detailed this problem in other posts in this thread so i won't rehash it. the long and short of it is this rom is typically 2 bars lower than the stock and sleipinir. so much so that i can't even get a data connection outside at work. we have wifi inside so that's not a problem but outside data is poor to spotty at best.

the second problem is that i just can't find a browser that works for me. they all seems to crash or freeze. when it's working it's way faster than any other rom i've used. page loads are wicked fast. but typically i only get about 10-15 minutes of use before i have to kill the process and restart the app. stock browser dolphin opera firefox. all a no go.

since about 90% of my phone use is internet between the data and the browser issues it's a deal breaker for me.

everything else works great. camera mms etc. and it's fast. like way fast. it's weird because i never have the problems that seem to be common i always have these one off issues. lol.

I have the same problem with browsers. I've tried a half dozen or more. All are very sluggish or will load pages for a short time and then become sluggish. The best performing browser, for me, is the stock Google browser, believe it or not. I don't do a lot of internet on a smartphone browser, however, when I do, it is job related and has to work. If it doesn't, then I wait until I have a computer in front of me. Not an optimal choice.

If you don't mind my asking, are you still running noop and nova launcher? I haven't run them before, it will be fun to read up and try something new.
'm going to install the update on my wife's phone tonight, and I'd like to try to get it dialed in while I have my hands on it.

So far she's really happy with the ROM, the only issues she's having are general laggyness, occasional app-crashes (buggy apps like FB and various zynga games), and occasionally it will fail to wake and either reboot, or she'll have to pull the battery. I think someone mentioned having this problem a few pages back, and the diagnoses was likely an app problem. If it persists in the new update, I'll post again, but I have no trouble believing it's an app - she runs more than a few apps that are known to cause problems.

Its not an app. I did a clean install and did not install apps and i still have the fail to wake reboots
 
Can we add the dirty flash steps in the OP? I know not to format data, but only wipe the cache and davlik? Do I need to do anything with the gapps?

Yeah I was thinking about rewriting the op but never have time and you do not need to reflash gapps when updating to a new build any longer but you need to flash gapps when coming to cm9 for the first time.
 
I just updated from the 5/24 build to 9/17 (9-20130915-UNOFFICIAL) and it went smoothly. Everything is working nicely for me so far. Nice work phenomx4!
 
My dirty flash produced a perpetual boot loop. Oh well, full wipe and reload for me. I was on the 8/16 build...

I find that chrome is unstable but dolphins seems alright.

I found that my phone would randomly heat up and use up the battery on 3G. I just updated to the new version so maybe that will fix it? I might just install a battery saving app that disables data when its not needed. No issues on wifi.
 
I actually have been using chrome for the last week or so with nearly no issues other than the ammount of ram that it takes. I can't use it for too long before I need to just clear it out and restart it.

Agreed I've found Maxthon a nice compromise for this device. Chrome even gets laggy on my Nexus.
 
Try a mini browser. Have you tried Opera MINI or Dolphin mini? Stock browser gets unusable after a while, Chrome disappointed me and Firefox was actually decent. So was dolphin. Both HD and Mini.

Dolphin MINI is alot smaller smoother and still has tabs! But Opera seems faster and stabler.
 
why does this rom lag so much with my phone there are times that i get random force close on apps and the screen doesnt respond after 3 mins does any body have this solved if so plz send me something app or zip watever

I have the same issues, although I notice there is less lag with each new build that comes out. I too would be interested in any such app, flash able tweak or special settings to help kill the lag issues...
